MooseBreath Posted 2 March 2015 Posted 2 March 2015 So the diabetic who died didn't appeal his sanction and refused the opportunity for a hardship payment. He had more than £3 (enough to buy plenty of basic food) but dies with a completely empty stomach. This is dispatches number one example of the system not working. If you're convinced by that you'll be convinced by anything.
MooseBreath Posted 2 March 2015 Posted 2 March 2015 There we go it's not 100k kids go hungry at all, but less than 100k kids for whom a parent has been sanctioned. Bare faced lies from the churches. God will surely disapprove.
MooseBreath Posted 2 March 2015 Posted 2 March 2015 And finally we learn the other example person used aggressively rejected a hardship payment. So in summary: the kids going hungry thing was a lie, and the supposed worst victims of benefit sanctions actually turned down free money that would have solved their problem. Great show, very revealing.
Guest MattP Posted 2 March 2015 Posted 2 March 2015 Hopefully, that will be made clear in the tv programme. Well that was laughable even by the churches standards of bending the truth. Worrying for your side of the argument if that's the best they can come up with this supposed hardship.
purpleronnie Posted 2 March 2015 Posted 2 March 2015 How would you even know? All due respect but how are you expecting to reap the benefits of the recovery? Looking at the opinion polls Labour's vote is literally down to the hardcore who would vote for them if Jimmy Savile was leader so I think these masses of people suffering is bollocks. given most of the opinion polls of the last 2 weeks give a labour lead then the same must be said of Tory voters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_2015_United_Kingdom_general_election

I'd say the Tories are doing pretty well given we keep being told the UKIP vote is all ex Tories.
DennisNedry Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Labour are now mocking the Conservatives for failing to reduce net migration to tens of thousands. The hypocrisy is to be admired, I suppose. This is a party that let in 4 MILLION immigrants during it's time in power.
purpleronnie Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 Things are looking up for the Tories now Sol Campbell has expressed interest in running for them. Remember his euro 2012 comment about fans coming back in body bags?, at least he has the Tory irrational fear of foreigners
Guest MattP Posted 3 March 2015 Posted 3 March 2015 at least he has the Tory irrational fear of foreigners Have we been transported back to 1975? One minute courting rich Russians and Arabs, next minute an irrational fear of them.

Rincewind Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 i believe they get the figures by working or being involved in the organisation. Inside knowledge and all that. Before I volunteered for DNO Ihad little insight into what 'being homeless' really meant but now I have met people that have been in that situation and turned their lives around and are also volunteering. i no longer prejudge the homeless as heir reasons for being in the situation range from depression to abuse by a partner. The people that work within these organisations are not affiliated with any political party and do it because they want to help. Besides in a year running up to an election charities are not allowed to campaign for a party unless paying a vast amount in fees.
purpleronnie Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 Nigel Farage has dropped Ukip’s plan to cap immigration at 50,000 arrivals a year, saying his policy is now just a return to “normality”. UKIP = more U Turns than a dodgy plumber.
Alf Bentley Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 UKIP = more U Turns than a dodgy plumber. True, but unfortunately his political instincts are quite good, I reckon. Everyone knows that they're "the anti-immigration party" and anyone mainly motivated by that issue will already be voting for them. So there's not much to lose in dropping that arbitrary target. Instead, he can do his "likeable, common-sense bloke next door" act and go on apparently reasonably about an Australian-style points system. That's a lot more likely to attract floating voters who are disillusioned with the main parties and want to vote for a "common sense alternative".
Guest MattP Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 What baffles me how any government can set targets for things they can't actually control. I don't know how many times it has to be said, if you stay within the EU at the minute you can't stop people entering. It's pretty simple. Cameron probably knew that at the time but thought it wouldn't matter as Labour are regarded as a joke on the subject anyway. Just didn't account for the rise of UKIP and just how big an issue this has become for low paid and working people as well as the traditional anti immigration lot.
GaelicFox Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 UKIP programme C5 blind party member ..."I use Nigels vision....." Blind and deluded
Foxhateram Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 I vote for Pearson to be prime minister. He will apparently make deluded substitutions and be clueless in his job. He will play with negative tactics and set us all up to lose everything. Apart from rich clubs who will gain easy points against the poor. Hmm on second thoughts he sounds too much like a Tory. Pearson out!
Guest MattP Posted 4 March 2015 Posted 4 March 2015 Are people actually still watching these programmes where they try to portray a party by a few supporters, that's 3 of the 4 channels that have tried it in the last month. Do they not realise it's only a load of lefties watching and they are preaching to the converted? It's pathetic. I wish they would do a series on the Greens mind, that would be amusing Actually scrap that, maybe follow the Labour council in Rotherham and how they handle accusations of mass child gang rape - that would show the electorate something - and from elected officials of a party with a actual chance of power. That would be an interesting TV show.

Unless its UKIP I was considering going back to the tories as they have done a decent job but this shit just makes me want to vote UKIP out of spite.

UKIP activists make great TV , I agree with your point that these programmes about the xenophobic racist homophobic poorly educated disenfranchised ukip activists are taking up valuable airtime on issues like Rotherham , Oxford etc.....So sooner UKIP crawl back under a stone and die like the BNP , we can all hold the real fools running the country now and previously to account for the many fractures in our society Watching it is actually very very sad , it's shocking how many uneducated / ignorant people can be attracted to being activists in one party , just like flies around a big load of dog poo on a summers eve What is also tragic , Farage actually make sense on quite a few points .....but so long as they are represented by morons those point mean nothing and change nothing

Unless its UKIP I was considering going back to the tories as they have done a decent job but this shit just makes me want to vote UKIP out of spite. It's almost like they do it and not expect people to notice, I'm exactly the same, I almost want to vote UKIP on principle watching this stuff even if I was going to vote Tory. UKIP activists make great TV , I agree with your point that these programmes about the xenophobic racist homophobic poorly educated disenfranchised ukip activists are taking up valuable airtime on issues like Rotherham , Oxford etc..... Comparing the two would be like comparing the Liberal Democrats to the CPC. If you to councillor/activist level you could find anything in any party, it's a bit weird to see the attention UKIP get compared to others and it's become obvious to even publications like the Guardian that have openly criticised this now that it's not the way to do things and certainly doesn;t work. I don't agree they are represented by morons though, I mean could anyone really call Farage, Carswell or Reckless anything slandarous, they all seem to be decent people fighting for a cause they believe in. Amjad Bashir (I think that was his name) had a dodgy record as an MEP but he's now defected to the Tories.
