Time to man up and get rid!

Being classy in a side that is bottom is no accolade really. I'd rather have a solid, tough, cohesive team. I'm not bothered about individuals now. We need to sort this mess out as a team.

Oh dear.

How about surround him with some more class and be a premiership side, not continue with this tough battling Championship style that you seem to want more of!?

And you think that will happen? I'd love to have seen more quality signed over the summer and must have said as much about ten times. It's not been, so it's roll your socks up and dig-in time.

Unless you didn't notice, we're bottom.

Tough battling may be the order of the day in the absence of 'class'

We're bottom because we are playing championship football, and have too many championship quality players .... the one bright point is that we have one classy player, who may be able to show the class to lead the players around him, and show them the way. Why belittle that? Sticking another clogger in there to give it his all really is the opposite of what we need.

Sorry mate, I don't agree. Neither do I consider Cambiasso as fantastic as people think he is, nor do I think our team has enough bite about it. Without a doubt, we haven't signed well in the summer. I agree with you on that bit. Being tough and savvy are not attributes exclusive to the Championship. Theres plenty of tough players in the Prem.

Cambiasso is about a class above everybody else at the moment. His vision, anticipation and passing skills are a joy to the eye of the beholder. He's also a much-needed calming influence.

Name your tough players. And explain what positives they add to their respective team.

One rule: No mention of one particular Sunderland player this time around.

I just think that we need to make the journey to become a premier league side .... and we've wasted a lot of opportunities to do that.

If we are going to be a decent top half side then we need quality players playing neat football. We really have made tiny steps towards that and not quick enough .... Cambiasso means we are at least 10% into that journey .... take him out and play tough battling football and we've gone back to championship, for me!

Waller..again.. we're bottom mi old son..

With him in...

What argument are you making?

Pearson is not blame for todays result, individual errors cost us the result, the tactics were correct, we had ample chances to kill the game, the players didnt take them!!

Matic at Chelsea

Fernando/Fernandinho at City

Blind at Utd

Noble at West Ham

Jedinak at Palace

Wanyama at the Saints

There's 6 for a start. No nonsense, get stuck in ballwinners, not fantastically blessed with skill, but do a job and do it well.

Seriously, do you watch much footy? Genuine question.

We didn't fail to win against Sunderland because of Lee f***cking Cattermole. It was our ineptitude to finish chances or create them in the final third of the opposing half - already past Sunderland's midfield.

Read tomorrow's papers..

You're the moron with a stunning total of 6 posts who's started throwing the insults around. You seem to have popped up since the bad run. Your sort always do.

You're the embarrassment and more so trying to single out one person for abuse rather than come up with constructive (it's a big word let me break it down con-struc-tive) criticism. I can't hear your shouts of "Pearson out" over the sound of your knuckles dragging on the ground.

And if your brain was larger you'd know it's "toad's" not "toads" you infantile cretin. Comebacks? I'm full of them and I'd give a gorilla like you a headache. You're a keyboard warrior, plain and simple. Let's see you come on here after a win and give out some praise.

Well said except the final sentence that is a waste of screen space as we all know he won't do it.

I'm not making an argument .... I'm disagreeing with you that it's no accolade to be the classiest player in a poor side.

I think it's a higher accolade to look good in a poor side than a good one. For me, we don't have enough class, not be negative about the little bit we do have.

They had 32 chances, we had 18 .... I'd say that means we took around the same proportion of chances and 3-2 was a fair result.

How about Cambiasso and Cattermole together? With another attacking midfielder in there.

I get the defensive midfielder argument and that is the way the game is going.

I don't think it's an "either...or" situation though. To be honest, today I thought James did a lot of the dirty work well but again they dominated us in central areas at times due to numbers. This is the dilemma Pearson is facing.

I believe we had better chances, so I think 3 - 4 would be a fair result, bit it doesn't matter we still lost and Pearson gets judged on results

Most of your suggestions are in their 20ies and exceptionally expensive:

  • Wanyama: £12.5m
  • Matic: £21m
  • Blind: £14m
  • Fernando: £12m
  • Fernandinho: £34m

They are with teams who know they can afford to take the risks of such moves, because of their respective cashflow.

Can you imagine what such a deal would mean for a newly-promoted team like us? Havoc - in particular in case of relegation, where the PL wage structure (also a large element) would come into play.

Noble was brought up by the West Ham Academy and has had years to establish himself in the first team - with a manager, who's with the team for three years already, putting faith in his abilities.

Jedinak is having a good season now - he's on the up, but was he as good as this before?

Too similar mate. If good enough, you only need one DM. That way, the other midfielders are free to get forward more.

Not signing a player like Cattermole, for me, was a big mistake. With him in the side, we could have got James/Drinkwater/King into far more attacking positions. Cambiasso is not mobile enough for the role I was advocating pre season. And we look disjointed.

The final point was actually my main point over Cambiasso during the pre season chat. And it went all stupid. Not that he isn't quality, but that hes past doing what I'd have liked him to do for us. Be a DM.

Subjective mate, but from an informed view if you went to the game, the 32-18 and 3-2 are factual .... I have no view either way as i didn't see the chances.

I've always quite liked your argument that we could do with a blood and thunder midfield enforcer. I like that bit of steel a ball-winner brings to a side, and I'm well aware that under O'Neill we had more than one player who could give us that.

I don't think this was the reason for us losing today, in isolation. I don't think that such a player would have defended set pieces for us, though I think Ulloa might have defended that third goal had he not been taken off. And I don't think he would have helped Vardy take his chances or the full backs close their men down or Mahrez track his man, or whatever.

But I see your way of looking at it, including the Cambiasso thing - though I tend to think he's the least of our worries right now.

I suppose what you're saying is that a player can look perfectly good without necessarily giving the team what it needs most. Sort of like Corica and Joachim at the point when O'Neill moved them on - they were among our favourite players, but we were better without them. In fact, there are plenty more examples of midfield / attacking players who have looked like they're among our top performers, but were hardly missed when we came to move them on. For instance moving out Kelly and Kitson in favour of Wright and Russell up front. Or O'Neill dropping Gunnlaugsson after he appeared to play a stormer (against West Ham?) in 99. Or pretty much any time we've ever dropped Andy King.

And, not so much today but definitely in those Swansea and Newcastle games, we could have done with somebody who upset the opposition a bit more, and reminded them they were in a game. Our midfield had been overridden at times. I suspect a lot of this is to do with constant rotation, but you may well have a point about that ball-winner.

So who is there out there, potentially on the market, who could do that job in your view?

Yes..I know....

Thus, I suggested Cattermole as a 'cheaper' alternative. Not that he might be anymore?

Right, bed calls...

Your very expensive suggestions have a few advantages over Cattermole:

They are good, they are effective, they have skill and they don't tend to hurt their own team or other players too often.
