The best Horror Film of all time?

I always say the original Halloween is my favourite horror, It's just something about the music and the silent, creepy and unstoppable boogieman. I really liked The Conjuring too and I agree that Event Horizon is freaky and disturbing.

The original Black Christmas is good too and the John Carpenter film Prince Of Darkness is chilling.

Great films - Bob Clarke did BC if I'm not mistaken? I remember the weird video sleeve for his zombie cheapo Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things in my local shop haunting my dreams as a child.

Prince of Darkness is brilliant - awesome script and a great cameo from Alice Cooper. Plus, Egg from Big Trouble in Little China!

IT, used to scare me like hell when I was a kid, also I saw Blair Witch project at the cinema, which that film at the cinema seems twice as scary then watching it at home

Zombie Flesh Eaters

Braindead (If you can call it a horror)

Evil Dead 2 (also, if you can call it a horror)

Anything Dario Argento directed pre 2000

The original Nightmare On Elm Street

Suspiria.

Or anything of Dario Argento or Mario Bava's films.

The Italian horror films were the best. Better than the more famous American or Japanese ones generally.

all good films but out of all of them i would choose

the original nightmare on elm street

Basically, if it's Italian and made before 1990, you know it's going to be great. 80's Italian horror films were all pretty amazing, purely because they could basically get away with putting anything in them. I think the Dario Argento film Demons is probably my favourite, it's so cheesy and the ending is ridiculous, but it just ticks all the boxes.

We were quite lucky back the early nineties. The local video shop used to let us rent any films we liked if we had a note from our parents, and they were well stocked in really obscure foreign horror films that have now become cult classics.

does anyone remember plan 9 from outer space    hahahaha absolutly hilarious

they main actor died whilst they were fiming so for the rest of the film the main character walked around holding a cape over his face7.jpg

True. Their horror film scene did decline in the 90s but there's still the odd great one since.

Dellamorte Dellamore (aka. Cemetery Man) from 1994 is one of my favourite films ever and also Rupert Everett's best ever performance imo.

I'm not big on the genre but I remember watching Wolf Creek a few years ago and thought it was blinding!

it was so gory

imbd gave it a 6.2 /10

The Ring (the Japanese version) is a masterpiece as far as cinematography goes, I don't find it particularly scary though. I tend to prefer horror films that go for the gross out factor to physiological ones personally
