eunmac Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I know the goaly debate is in every thread, but Schwarzer's stats across the three games are impressive. I'm not sure why we're not giving him a bit more credit? Service from the back is underrated and both Kasper and Hamer are not strong in those areas. Surely he has to be first choice for the rest of the season? Stats link here:
anotherharboroughfox Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 you can't seriously claim that after 3 games? When Lloris has played 25
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Only game he looked comfortable was Palace, mainly because they barely got in front of goal.
cityfanlee23 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 I think the point to take from this... is that so far he's our best keeper on stats, And until he drops below hamer and schmeichel over a period of more games, surely he shouldn't be dropped? He talks more than both of them put together, and I think with Huth, Was and Wes potentially infront of him, they will hopefully be more organised than say kasper or Ben
eunmac Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 Yeah but he's made two mistakes in 3 games None as bad as Kaspers howler against Liverpool!
cityfanlee23 Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 Comparing the stats - Passes per game - Schwarz 23 Schmeichel 17 Ben 19 Successful passes - Schwarz - 12 Schmeichel - 8 Hamer - 7 Pass completion - Schwarz - 54% Schmeichel - 46% Hamer 38% Average Pass length Schwarz - 45% Schmeichel - 53% Hamer - 55% Ignoring clean sheets based on games played Goals conceded (semi ignore this because of games played, but this is average over 90 minutes in each game) Schwarz - 2 Schmeichel 1.86 Hamer - 1 Saves Schwarz - 2.67 Schmeichel - 2.14 Hamer - 1.63 Distrubution accuracy - Schwarz - 58% Schmeichel 48% Hamer - 41% Catches Schwarzer - 4 Schmeichel - 2 Hamer - 1 Schwarzer - 6 Schmeichel - 0 Hamer - 2 Statistically, Schwarzer is the better keeper SO FAR How he fairs after 8 games and 14 games (played by ben and kasper) will tell us more, however is it worth dropping him??? or to counter that, Is it worth us risking that schwarzer will be better for the remaining 13 games?
Stadt Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 The Arsenal and Man U mistakes were very basic errors, it puts the experience myth to the sword too, our most error prone players have been some of the most experienced.
DennisNedry Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 In two consecutive away games he has palmed a shot straight to an opposition striker. Neither were awful mistakes but both were costly.
The Horse's Mouth Posted 11 February 2015 Posted 11 February 2015 None as bad as Kaspers howler against Liverpool! They all resulted in goals so that is irrelevant
eunmac Posted 11 February 2015 Author Posted 11 February 2015 At least Hamer statistically has the longest beard per game: www.footballbeardstats.com

He's made several glaring mistakes in few games. Hamer should never have been dropped and I said that before the Arsenal game.
Fox92 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 He hasn't played as many games as Kasper or Hamer or even Lloris (who is one of the better, if not the best, goalkeepers in the league).
eunmac Posted 12 February 2015 Author Posted 12 February 2015 Are you kidding? A couple of stats about his distribution and amount of saves? He's made several glaring mistakes in few games. Hamer should never have been dropped and I said that before the Arsenal game. 59% of all Hamers passes end up with the opposition. In total he's made 271 passes and of those 172 didn't go to a city player. He's made a total of 9 accurate short passes (yes that's 9 out of 271 total). Teams with the best chance of winning are the ones that keep the ball not give it away. I like Hamer. I don't like the fact he gives the ball away constantly. So no. Not kidding.
Pearson Nigel Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Bearded boy best shout......Peters Boy Casper is petrified of crosses, Aussie Mark......not up to it. Aussie: Experienced.....but Old, Slow reflexes , Struggles to get distance on kicks Dane: Good at shouting and some great shot stopping, kicks are very good, really does struggle with crosses which cost us......never comes off his line on set pieces. Bearded Boy: Young yes..... But good stature, good shop stopper, rarely makes an error (Spurs game at home only one) can only get better.....kicking needs to get better......... For me he is unlucky and should be playing Come on Supa Nige get BENJI BOY IN!!
Soar Fox Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 What about Conrad Logan? By all accounts he had a great loan spell earlier in the season picking up a couple of MOTM awards. He's waited patiently for 10 years to be given a proper go. Come on Nige get him in.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 I think this issue should be put to bed now. Statistical analyses on such a small pool of data are more or less worthless. It's impossible to draw any meaningful conclusion based on the few games each of our keepers has played. But by any means guys, don't let facts and reason get in the way of the Hamer jizz fest. And certainly don't let either of those things get in the way of accusing those who point out your incessant bullshittery of the sort of cognitive dissonance that you champion every day of the week on this wonderful forum.
cheshamfox17 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Stats can be very useful but not so much for goalkeepers, if you use Squawka for saves then all the keepers down the bottom of the leagye would probably be above all the ones at the top because they face a lot more shots. I still don't get why we dropped Hamer, he is the only keeper to keep a clean sheet this season, To be honest there are great things about the three of them and bad things about the three of them so really I don't mind who plays
cheshamfox17 Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Teams with the best chance of winning are the ones that keep the ball not give it away. That's true however teams whose goalkeepers don't push the ball back to the oppositions strikers also fair a lot better
cc_star Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Only game he looked comfortable was Palace, mainly because they barely got in front of goal. Didn't have a shot across his body which he'll obligingly set up opposition forwards like he did in the other two games Despite seeing how he needed to do better in one or two instances our defence looks safest with Hamer behind them, this is borne out in stats too Facts are Hamer's made mistakes but we got results, Schmeichel's weakness put the defence under all sorts of pressure and we concede goals galore, Schwarzer has made a couple of pivotal errors and we've lost a couple of points as a result
narboroughblue Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Personally I don't get the Hamer love in some posters have. His distribution from balls passed back to him is truly woeful, I feel nervous everytime we pass to him. As was seen on Tuesday when we had centre backs comfortable on the ball our keeper will need to be more involved in this area of play. Hamer has good traits I admit but distribution and footwork are two very important traits and he is our worst at both imo.
Arriba Los Zorros Posted 12 February 2015 Posted 12 February 2015 Hamer's distirbution is so poor I want him nowhere near the team. Stoke was a real low
