cjslcfc Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 James will be off and without him Drinkwater will be a shadow of what he was last season. Nugent will be another year older and so less effective than last season. Fair points. Although IMO Nugent isn't really old enough for that extra year to mean he's less effective.
Bayfox Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 did any of these clubs receive 100 million dollars. for finishing bottom tho?
SecretPro Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 People on this forum have definitely said things along the line of 'Keep Pearson, do another year in the Championship and when we get promoted he will have hopefully learnt from his mistakes and make a better go of the Premier League.' Nobody has said the Championship will be a complete walk in the park but honestly, some people on this forum only see what they want to see, there have been plenty of 'we will bounce straight back anyway' remarks banded about.
roger the dodger Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 Nigel Pearson is a GOD! We will bounce back with style. Guaranteed! your talking shite pal

There have been much more comments in the realm of "we'd have a much better chance of bouncing straight back up with Pearson at the helm" than anything else. You could probably count the amount of people who claim we'd go straight back up regardless on one or two hands.
CosbehFox Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 Not GOD. You mean DOG. Never expected DT to paraphrase an Inbetweeners quote.
Neil_LCFC Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 If we get relegated then our last 3 premier league seasons will have all been relegation seasons. The last time we would have managed to stay up would have been Taylors first season in charge. Pretty awful statistics compared to a lot of clubs of similar or smaller size who have been promoted during the same period.
Swiss_tony Posted 25 February 2015 Posted 25 February 2015 we could do a west brom who went down and came back up stronger. but as others have said it depends on retention. some of our better players will leave, that much is obvious. and then what do we get to replace them? we have average players like King on a four year contract nothing is cut and dried, for every west brom there's a leeds or a wolves. i guess that means i'm on the fence.
chapero82 Posted 26 February 2015 Posted 26 February 2015 How many teams haven kept there manager that got them up to the BPL got them relegated and kept the manger for the next season? I would like to see if it works cos I know not many managers that have took over when in BPL or after the relegation have gone on to be promoted.
Leicester_Numan Posted 26 February 2015 Posted 26 February 2015 Can someone please find one example of this (that wasn't said as a joke)? I don't think anyone has said it will be easy! People, myself included, simply think we are in a far better position than a lot of previously relegated teams have been. I don't think that's too wide of the mark either. It's been repeated over and over again but my initial points, a while back, were that it's likely the core of our squad could stay together (having got us up last time), our manager is likely to stay (again masses of Championship experience), we won't (hopefully) have the mess of a panic appointment towards the end of this season causing us problems at the start of the next season and overall we are debt free and hopefully the wage budget is sensible (rumours of 30k cap, haven't overspent in prem, new contracts possibly contain relegation clauses etc...). My opinion is we are in a stronger position to bounce back up than many other teams have been. No one is saying we will easily do it. As fans we have too much experience of the Championship to know how hard it is!! Exactly
CosbehFox Posted 26 February 2015 Posted 26 February 2015 and then what do we get to replace them? Place trust in one of the greatest scouting set-up's the club has ever had. Regardless of who leaves we will have the basis of a decent Championship which requires a tweaking to make it better. Every player at City whose signed a deal with the past 18 months will have a relegation wage reduction without a doubt. Similarly if we stayed up, they would be entitled to a bonus and wage increase.

Curbishley at Charlton did. There are a few which kept their manager and then made the play-offs only to fail there.
