DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 DT posts about homosexuality being 'f***ing disgusting' in basically every thread we have on the subject. Even slightly more serious posters post some stuff that I personally find horrendus (Fox92 if memory serves me correct - sorry if not - posts a lot of clearly homophobic stuff as do many others). Now I think that suggests that, a) There are people on this forum who would be quite willing to openly admit they don't want homosexuals in professional football. b) As none of those posts have been removed from the forum, they aren't 'unacceptable' by the standards of the Foxes Talk administrators. They may not be popular views but no one is stopping anyone from posting them. In reality it's not about homophobic posts being unacceptable, it's about people worrying about being judged for their views. And I don't see how that is any different to me posting my dissaproval of homophobia. I know that a lot of people who are homophobic are going to judge me negatively for what I post just as I'm going to judge them when they share their homophobic views. Anyone who decides not to answer this survey is not doing so because their views are unacceptable, or because they're not allowed to, they are in fact actively choosing not to. If people are afraid of sharing their views because other posters are going to judge them then they need to pluck up the courage to do so (or in terms they may be slightly more comfortable with, they need to grow a pair). If you're that convinced about your moral views then surely you shouldn't be ashamed of them whatever other people think? It's your prerogative of course Matt, but do you mind me asking why you haven't replied to the survey? I have never said that being a homosexual is "disgusting". Please show me the post. You are forever misquoting me, which shows how much you must read posts. If you want to criticise, then post, relating to the FACTS. I have nothing against a person being gay, and have a couple of friends who are, and a step son who insists his nephews and nieces should call him "Aunty", which I find dreadful. I have posted that I wouldn't personally wish to be gay, and got a ban for saying that they were flawed, by nature, a view which I uphold strongly, and backed by logic However, I am not going to be goaded into another argument. What I have also stated is that I don't like gay parades, and that it is wrong for them to be able to adopt children.
Mark_w Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Does also Irk me a little that people are either trying to reinvent a new meaning for the word Homophobia, or just dont't understand the meaning of the word. Not suggesting thats the case for purpleronnie just for some people in General British Dictionary definitions for homophobicExpand homophobia /ˌhəʊməʊˈfəʊbɪə/ noun 1. intense hatred or fear of homosexuals or homosexuality No intense hatred or fear from me. Infact no hatred or fear at all. Yet i'll get labled with being homophobic for simply saying im more of a Adam and Eve than Adam and Steve kind of person... What on earth does being more of an 'Adam and Eve than Adam and Steve kind of person' even mean? I'm heterosexual, does that make me one of those people? I tend to make my judgements of people based on what they say and do, not whether they put their penis in a consenting man or woman, don't you do the same? There are lots of different ways people have defined homophobia, the one you've provided is nowhere near definitive.

It's all nonsense really that just has the intention of the one spouting it being morally superior to the one (same as all the others now, Islamophobia, Xenophobia etc, buzzwords that are basically used with intent to silence or shut down an alternate opinion without having to discuss it), the term was actually coined by a German psychologist whose openly admitted in later years the term was created to try and defect the mental opinion of what he was talking about at the time i.e the mental health of the homosexual. Classic tactics that have been used more and more over the years as the much of the public have fell for it and above all it works, we've seen it used here by people with regards to anything from gay pride to having a debate on immigration. Of course as usual with any word like it, it's been taken on and ran with to describe people far removed from what it was actually intended for, like people who won't put a pro gay message on a cake.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Well that second sentence certainly supports your 'People aren't going to read what you actually write when it comes to things like this.' theory. Ha! Just found this. See above!

God help this crappy world we live in these days! but you didn't use the word disgusting it would seem. Sorry.

It's your prerogative of course Matt, but do you mind me asking why you haven't replied to the survey? I'd like a few examples. I don't hate or dislike gay people purely because they are gay. Not that I'm one to judge but you seem to come across as one of those that is easily offended by anything.

Not that I'm one to judge but you seem to come across as one of those that is easily offended by anything. I think you're probably right I am more easily offended by things than the average person seems to be. Here's some examples of the posts that I have an issue with anyway as you've asked. I voted no because I personally don't think it is right. Also, if a person really wants a child (ie Elton John), he should have married of woman. I don't think God intended on the same sex to be together, hence why you can have your own children if you marry the same gender. It denies a potential child either a father or mother? Don't know really, but the old statement of 'I just dont think its right' is for me... It has turned what was moral wrong into a civil right, and what's stopping people from marrying their immediate family now? Surely that should be made legal because of equality?
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Well there was no need for the "sorry if not" bit then. That was a quick find (is that thread in your favourites?). I've got nothing to back up, I know I've posted stuff like that before. I don't agree with people being gay, big wow, but like I said I don't "hate" people just for being gay. Alan Turing was gay and he's a hero... Brian Epstein was gay and he managed my favourite band...

We're straying a bit from the point but, I didn't acuse you of hating gay people I said you'd posted things that are 'clearly homophobic' and personally I think not agreeing with people being gay falls into that category. I said sorry if not because at the time I wasn't sure, in between posting that a couple of days ago and now I've revisited those old threads to refresh myself about who thinks what so that if you came back to me, as you have, I'd know where you stand.
Buce Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 . I don't agree with people being gay.. This is probably the most idiotic thing that I've ever read: it's like saying, "I don't agree with people being black/tall/left-handed..." No offence.

SystonFox Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 What else don't you agree with then? If John Lennon had have been gay this wouldn't be an issue would it?
MPH Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 What else don't you agree with then? If John Lennon had have been gay this wouldn't be an issue would it? Cant imagine! He was definitely living for today...
Xen Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Fox92, out of interest, what exactly is it that you don't agree with?
Fox92 Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 What else don't you agree with then? If John Lennon had have been gay this wouldn't be an issue would it? It's not an issue at all. As I said above, I don't dislike someone for being gay. Brian Epstein was gay, he managed the Beatles, so what? They're my favourite band. It would make no difference what so ever if John Lennon was gay (I can't actually believe I'm having this conversation) because he'd still be one of the greatest rockstars of all time, and no doubt still my favourite. Someone brings up "oh yeah Fox92 he's homophobic" and now it's all this. There's no issue at all. Shame really. Mark_w defends literally anything so there's probably loads more "offensive" posts by myself if you want to look. Fox92, out of interest, what exactly is it that you don't agree with? I'm not getting into it because it'll only be used against me.
Mark_w Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 Mark_w defends literally anything I don't defend homophobia.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 I can't see where this thread is leading. PS - I heard Humpty Dumpty was gay, and we all know Andy Pandy was.
Strokes Posted 26 March 2015 Posted 26 March 2015 I really have no problem with anyone being gay, I'm not overly keen on camp people as they make me feel uncomfortable, the two can be linked but not exclusively. The personality of a footballer doesn't interest me, what he does on the pitch does. So basically, no shit gays, no shit hetros pls.
