Phube Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 Just a comment by Big Sam saying the Newcastle fans would rather see a 5-4 loss than a 1-0 win. Which got me thinking... I think I'd prefer that too! Obviously not every game, cause that'd be silly, but as a one off what would you prefer?
Joe. Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 Erm Phube I think you're on your own on this one. How can any fan say they'd rather see their team lose than win?

Ask anyone who went to the Chelski or Fulham games. But games at home, especially in the league, simply HAVE to be won, by whatever means.

So you'd take the 4-3 defeats over 1-0 wins against them teams?
WetFlannel Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 oops i accidentally voted for 5 - 4 loss, ignore my vote
SamL Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 I'd rather get 3 points than a higher entertainment value. 3 points and +1 goal difference over an entertaining game in which we lose 5-4 and a -1 goal difference anytime
Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 or i will say is 4-3 Newcastle away 97 4-3 Wolves away 03 Not very nice i tell dee ...
Asha Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 This is a basically a 'promotion' or 'relegation' poll. Pointless really. Yes we want entertainment but winning is what we all want.
Joe. Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 Well basically its saying, 'Win or Lose, which would you prefer?'
Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 Well basically its saying, 'Win or Lose, which would you prefer?' In football or in general ?
Hugo Sanchez Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 it depends if it was us playing If its is us, then never but i love to watch super sunday and the game is end to end. Like last sunday Spurs vs the Blues. Was a awesome second half with a great ending to it.
Asha Posted 6 December 2007 Posted 6 December 2007 any fcuking win will do at the moment!!!!! Yeah but and i wouldn't want us to lose 4-5 either...our defensive record will be shot.
Staf Posted 7 December 2007 Posted 7 December 2007 Much rather win 1-0 and 3 points are better than none

Ask anyone who went to the Chelski or Fulham games. But games at home, especially in the league, simply HAVE to be won, by whatever means. I can sort of see that to be honest. I actually enjoyed those games more than the Villa game we won this season. Would still prefer to have won I suppose but it's hard to write off the feelings we got when Fryatt, McAuley (x2), Wesolowski, Campbell and Cort's goals went in against those teams - particularly the Weso goal at Fulham and DJ/Corts' goals at Chelsea.

Ask anyone who went to the Chelski or Fulham games. But games at home, especially in the league, simply HAVE to be won, by whatever means. So you think that they were easy to stomach because they were away games? It didn't occur to you that it might be because they were CUP games against PREMIERSHIP opposition that we were not expected to win? Idiot.
DB11 Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 Why not just change the poll to "1 goal difference win" and "1 goal difference loss" or "win" and "lose" Why would you rather your team lost?
Micky Ruddle Posted 8 December 2007 Posted 8 December 2007 A win equals 3 points, whereas 4-5 defeat, means you come away with nothing. We'd score 4 goals for absolutely no reason, but it brings a positive out of the game, and can take it forward for the next match
