Just a comment by Big Sam saying the Newcastle fans would rather see a 5-4 loss than a 1-0 win. Which got me thinking... I think I'd prefer that too!

Obviously not every game, cause that'd be silly, but as a one off what would you prefer?

On the road, an occasional high-scoring defeat is easier to stomach. Ask anyone who went to the Chelski or Fulham games.

But games at home, especially in the league, simply HAVE to be won, by whatever means.

Erm Phube I think you're on your own on this one.

How can any fan say they'd rather see their team lose than win?

Absolutely, I can't.

So you'd take the 4-3 defeats over 1-0 wins against them teams?

I'd rather get 3 points than a higher entertainment value.

3 points and +1 goal difference over an entertaining game in which we lose 5-4 and a -1 goal difference anytime

This is a basically a 'promotion' or 'relegation' poll. Pointless really. Yes we want entertainment but winning is what we all want.

it depends if it was us playing

If its is us, then never but i love to watch super sunday and the game is end to end. Like last sunday Spurs vs the Blues. Was a awesome second half with a great ending to it.

any fcuking win will do at the moment!!!!!

Yeah but and i wouldn't want us to lose 4-5 either...our defensive record will be shot.

I can sort of see that to be honest. I actually enjoyed those games more than the Villa game we won this season. :dunno:

Would still prefer to have won I suppose but it's hard to write off the feelings we got when Fryatt, McAuley (x2), Wesolowski, Campbell and Cort's goals went in against those teams - particularly the Weso goal at Fulham and DJ/Corts' goals at Chelsea.

So you think that they were easy to stomach because they were away games?

It didn't occur to you that it might be because they were CUP games against PREMIERSHIP opposition that we were not expected to win?

Idiot.

Why not just change the poll to "1 goal difference win" and "1 goal difference loss" or "win" and "lose"

Why would you rather your team lost? :frusty:

A win equals 3 points, whereas 4-5 defeat, means you come away with nothing. We'd score 4 goals for absolutely no reason, but it brings a positive out of the game, and can take it forward for the next match
