Holloway and Leicester in trouble

Recommended Posts

Holloway is our longest serving manager all season. We have had 1 really good result in all those games away at Bristol City and since then apart from 1 good home win we have done nothing. He continues to play players out of position when he would be better off playing academy players. I mean Fryatt left midfield hes bad enough up front. The one good thing about Leicester was our defence and that seems to have crumbled in recent matches, and with Fulop back at Sunderland now it has been made even worse. Holloway can't be motivating the players to play or they would be winning more games. Our so called better players, Hume Kisnorbo and Wesolowski have even been poor recently. He has signed players Howard and Hayles which is the only positive but they still are yet to score. Its a big gamble signing that Hungarian. He could turn out to be another Kaebi Djezri or Hellings.

Now we are 2-0 down at half time to a team who only have 3 points from their previous 5 league matches and just lost 3-1 to a team lower than us in the table. The only good thing about this season was how we raised our game for the cup and it looks like 2000 Leicester fans who travelled for hours to the game will return disappointed today in the cup.

These are disappointing times for Leicester City and poor times for Ian Holloway so far. Will he turn it around? We will have to wait and see, but after just surviving relegation in previous seasons i can see us going down this time.

I've been saying we are going to be fighting relegation up to the end of the season for the last two months now.

Only we don't seem to be fighting.

Give it a rest!

He's had six weeks with a set of players that have had some much unstability over the last 12 months.

Holloway is doing the best he can with a bunch of bad players.

The only reason he's playing players out of position is because we dont have good enough players in those areas. The last few days in the tanfer market have shown this.

We need to give him and the team time!

I've re-read both posts and can't find anyone arguing for anyone to be sacked

But, since you mention it, if Holloway is "doing his best" then it isn't good enough.

Let's just get behind Holloway and the players. I didnt think Holloway was the right man for the job but im not going to say he should be sacked im just going to support him and have faith in his abilities. One thing to say though is that Walshy wouldnt look like a bad appoinment now.

Im up for giving Holloway time obviously, but the team has had plenty. Fryatt, Hume, Kisnorbo, Mcauley Weso i think were all part of the Levein era and have been proven not to be good enough. Fryatt has scored 11 goals in 56 starts for Leicester and one of those was in his first appearance. Thats just not good enough. Hammond has scored 8 goals in 31 starts which is just as good if not better than Fryatts record. We need to sell a hell of a lot of players in the window. If Fulham come calling for Kisnorbo sell him. We maybe even need another centre back now.

Gary Speed would have been an excellent signing, why didn't we get him before Sheff Utd?

Too right it isn't good enough. Would people be happy that Holloway 'tried his best' and we end up in league one next season?

At the minute it's looking like a reality - Holloway talks himself up so much about how he can get the best out of his players etc. It's about time he proved it, no manager should have changed the team the way he did in the first half - I agree with Matt Piper for once!

Holloway doesn't seem to be trying his best to me at the moment. Seems like rather than taking gambles with reserves or academy players, he is just taking the easy way out and throwing players in like Fryatt, N Gotty, Kenton etc in midfield

So what midfield would you have played today? There really isn't much choice!

We don't have players for some positions, so what can you do? Play the best players at the club as best you can - academy players are not our best players. Mattock, Stearman etc are the best of that bunch - a team full of those? More madness than a Martin Allen team building strategy.

It seems so far our best manager this season was Megson - but everyone murdered him before he even started.

Although I do agree we are in trouble - I cannot remember the last time (years and years and years) we looked a comfortable, confident, organised, able to win games team. I pray the January recruits make a difference.

Our reserves are shit.

What scares me is that he thinks 35 years olds and fat forwards are the future of LCFC.

Maybe Ollie is right and I will be shown up to be the idiot I am (once again) but I firmly believe that he doesn't have the motivational abilities to raise this squad and his first two signings have left me totally nonplussed.

And then there's Mandaric - a man who seems hell-bent on a mission to make us look supremely stupid.

The chairman, the manager, the squad, the Trust - a collection of amateurs playing at being grown-ups.

Why is Kish still on loan? :dunno:

He's shit but he's a better midfielder than Kenton.

We are witnessing the results of five years of farcical neglect. It will take a man of vision and quality to galvanise this club and start any revival. That man is clearly not Milan Mandaric. I fear that this hole we have dug can only get deeper with him at the helm.

How much longer do the fans have to put up with this dross?? 'Keep the bloody faith?' how long for? Southampton are a very poor side but have so far made us look like bloody amateurs - I watched some of the videos of the 90's earlier today (play-off finals etc) and the current side is worlds apart - I feel like crying xxxxxxxxx

But, since you mention it, if Holloway is "doing his best" then it isn't good enough.

People keep forgetting that he has the same players as the previous 2 managers, bar Howard and Hayles!

Anyone that is calling for Holloway to be sacked or saying he isnt good enough must not know anything about football.

I blame Martin Allen for signing total shit...it shows how bad things are when we have to play Kenton or N'gotty in midfield!!!!!

People need to think before they speak!

Shouldn't he be doing as well as if not better than them on that basis :dunno:

At least half as good as Warnock!!!...............pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I think he will definately turn things around.

People have to realise that is going to take time for him to regroup this club, 5 managers in one season is a joke and buying all those players at the same time wasn't the best thing to do either, majority turning out to be shit!

I think the signings Holloway has brought in so far have been promising.

We must nail a deal to bring a decent keeper here though, Henderson just doesn't cut it.

I like the thought of Hayles, John, Hume, Howard, Fryatt and DJ (when all on form and settled, we will score a lot of goals)

This season has been lost, it's all about building for the next few years at least.

Give it time, i'm focusing on seeing a decent solid squad being built and the start of next season.

The league cup, FA cup and promotion are all out of our hands so it's the only thing for it.

Get behind Holloway and the squad and look forward to next yr.

If nothing changes.....................................shoot the lot of them and blow up the walkers.

I've seen that or similar written for the last 3 years!

I've never been in any doubt that we will spend the rest of this season struggling against relegation. The truth is only a handful of players are good enough, and even they are not playing to their potential. Ive read that people are saying that Ollie's job starts in Feb when he has brought players in. It doesnt. It starts in July, when he has a pre season of his own, and by then a team he can truly call his own. I think next season we can start talking about the play offs, perhaps more. But this season, lets just make sure we are in a position to be aiming for that in this league and not League One.

And to be honest Olie hasn't attempting to build for the future i.e. signing old and fat strikers ...

Er, didn't we say the same kind of thing last season. Oh, and the season before that. :giggle:

We may aswell have just stuck with Martin Allen. It would be a justified sacking if we stuck with the next manager he got for at least a season but he hasn't. Now looking back sacking MA after that 4-1 win seems unbelieveable. However bad the players he signed at least he got that result and may have got more.

The MA sacking seems to have started a long chain of mistakes at the club this season.

Sadly if results dont start to improve in the next 8 league games or so, actually sticking with Holloway could turn out to be the final mistake and we may go down.

I would give him another couple of months and if we are still down there in or very near the zone we may have to make another change.
