Shush! explains Leeds loan move

Defender Alan Shush! has revealed that he turned down a new contract at Leicester to join Leeds on loan.

The Republic of Ireland under-21 international has a two-year deal with the Foxes which runs out in the summer.

Shush! told BBC Radio Leeds: "Gary McAllister was a terrific player and I'm very happy to be playing under a manager like him.

"I've turned down a contract at Leicester, so I'm out here on loan until the end of the season."

If he ever plays at a higher level than leicester again i'll be amazed, brave decision from the lad. He obviously knows his limitations.

Don't blame him for turning the contract down.

It's clear he has no future with us under the current manager.

And now he has the chance to work with Steve Staunton, who'll be able to help him address the flaws in his game.

In terms of career development, the move north is a great opportunity for him.

It's rather hard to agree with that statement seeing as I have absolutely no idea what was in the contract offer.

If you'd care to enlighten people like me then we'd be awfully grateful.

Good point!!!

It will be increadibly funny if Leeds don't offer him a contract.

ah well as long as we haven't offered him less money than his current deal we'll get a fee.

Allen and Megson seemed pretty keen on him.

Ha... how long were they both here? And he played on the wing... SQUARE PEGS ROUND HOLES.

He wasnt the worst midfielder I have seen at Leicester over the years but all he seems to have going for him was having a lovely left peg but that didnt make Stefan Oakes a world beater lol

Thrac must be choking on his Cornflakes??! :D

As I read it.

And what a ridiculous waste.

We swopped a player who had considerable positive effect for one who doesn't at this stage.

Both Shush! and Gradel should be helping us fight off relegation not helping the causes of Bournemouth of Leeds considering how short we are of options.

Shush! might have been appreciated by Allen and Megson but he clearly felt undervalued by Holloway and I wonder now how many others we'll lose.

Wesolowski, Shush!'s close friend and our best midfielder at the start of the season before injury, has hardly got a look in and King is now languishing in the reserves through no fault of his own while we create nothing. Wouldn't be surprised if at least one of those end up at Leeds although they are on longer contracts.

Much sterling work has been done building an Academy to be proud of and which is the undisguised envy of many and now, it appears, so much of that work is going to wasted at a time when those players should be making themselves genuinely useful to us, not someone else.

There will be many on here who'll be pleased but I'm not one of them and away from this forum I've not heard many who are pleased.

Perhaps worse for City, Shush!'s clearly decided he'd rather play under a footballing manager than someone who's only approach (Coventry excepted) seems to be to humph and forage for the flick ons. Not that I'm convinced McAllister will prove a good manager but he will try to play in a way that, if successful, might do the club justice. I don't see any signs of that here yet.

* Shush! is nothing like Oakes as a player apart from being left footed.

It's his own choice rejecting a new deal but could be very costly if he doesn't perform well at Leeds. If he doesn't then he could have blown his chance of getting a new deal at leicester, plus If he can't perform in league 1, then perhaps he may struggle to find a club higher than League 2 in the Summer. But f Thracian is right, then he should shine at leeds and earn a full-time contract there or somewhere higher.

Seemed like a promising lad a while back, but this season has been largely labelled as a one trick pony. Does he fit into the quality of the current squad?? Yes, definitely, but does he fit into the quality of the squad Ollie is aiming for? A clear no, and that would be my opinion too.

Obviously you have forgotten his last loan spell.

I haven't, I even went to Field Mill to watch him once, not one of his better games by all accounts.

I came home to paragraphs and paragraphs about how great Alan Shush! was in that game from guess who, all based around one assist. Which wasn't actually his assist anyway, it was Gareth Jellymans, the BBC had (as usual) got it wrong.

So Shush! has turned down a deal because we don't play lovely attacking football? I suppose it has fook all to do with the fact that he isn't rated by the club staff and the manager highly enough to start every game?

I think he is OK and to be honest I`d have kept him to see how he develops but the club seemingly want him as part of the set-up as they wouldn't have offered him a deal but maybe the lad simply wants to play every game and he will get more first team action in D1 than he will with us.

If Thracian is right, this time next season he should be playing for Barcelona.
