The top 10 let down players/staff of the season.

The top 10 players or staff let downs of the season. There have been so many.

1. Stephen Clemence, for me the biggest player let down of the season, paid out money for him, last season player of the year at Birmingham, for me he has performed consistently badly, hasn't inspired the players as a captain, and has only shown glimpses of his talent from last season. Im disgusted with how he has performed, and am glad he's injured for Saturday.

2. Hossein Kaebi, we have signed a world cup star, who hardly ever played and turned out to be a light weight winger who wouldn't track back. Huge expectation, no substance.

3. Carl Cort, i was excited when we signed Cort, i always thought him as a danger when he was playing against us for Wolves. But it turned out he was just useless, slow, weak, couldn't win headers. Only had 1 good performance at Chelsea and was a big let down.

4. Shaun Newton, i had high hopes for him after some good games last season, but turned out to be pretty useless with only glimpses of good football.

5. Ian Holloway, High hopes when he was appointed, but he clearly isn't motivating the players to perform well, and has made some pretty crazy substitutions and tactical changes that for me makes him look clueless. He is seriously struggling now.

6. Iain Hume, just not playing well this season, again has had some good games but has had long periods of consistently bad performances, headless chicken.

7. Martin Allen, gone after 4 games without any time, a major let down after pre-season.

8. James Wesolowski, he was one of our top players last season but just isn't in the team anymore and hasn't performed that great this season for me. Still a young talent im sure he will turn it around next season.

9. Lacsko Zsolt, an amazing opening performance, one of the best a Leicester player has had, but has been poor since then and now seems to be out the team. Still i hope we sign him, he is young.

10. Milan Mandaric, a bit too hasty in his sacking of MA, seems to have made the wrong choice in Holloway. He hasn't let us down with his transfer kitty though but we haven't managed to sign any quality players who perform anyway, so he makes it in the top 10.

Milan Mandaric:

==========

Bottom line is that he's the leader and he's presided over a vast number of mistakes this season. Some of those mistakes have been inexplicable and hard to excuse because they've resulted from lack of due diligence to coin the modern phrase.

There have been mistakes in choosing managers as well as players and the player mistakes have not just been in terms of poor individuals but the need to acquire two virtually separate teams in the space of seven months or so and all the wasted money and bad feeling that brought about. Act in haste, repent at leisure is the phrase which comes to mind.

Even now we are languishing in the most pitiful position with little to suggest we are soon going to become the sort of stable, united, attacking force which might earn promotion.

Martin Allen:

========

Whatever really caused him to be forced out had the effect of letting the club down badly. It must surely have been more than simple eccentricity. He and MM together presided over some ridiculous signings.

Ill-researched Foreign imports:

====================

Kaebi, Ferreira, Djiziri and Nielsen were a total waste of money and almost anyone could see that from day one. They simply weren't suited to the rigours of Championship football.

Carl Cort:

=======

Was rarely fit and there was no "recent form" evidence at the time that he should ever have been signed.

Ian Holloway:

=========

It is too early to finally judge his signings but some of his decision making has been bizarre - in terms of players loaned out, tactics, substitutions and team selections. Results have been poor, confidence remains low and too many players lack sparkle.

Stephen Clemence:

=========

He's the skipper and came with a reputation he's never justified. In an injury-affected season he's seemed to go through the motions instead of imposing himself and setting the all-action example expected. A major disappointment, and just as much since Christmas despite having supposedly better players around him.

Alan Shush!:

=========

Allowed himself to be downgraded, sidelineed and finally shipped out by Holloway. Yes he was offered a contract but it became quite clear he was, like King, Weso and Mattock, always going to be a fall-guy in the policy of increasing the team's age and experience.

Whether there was any chance of his preventing that I have my doubts but he didn't show the urgency and determination needed to neutralise his faults while continuing to demonstrate that he had the creative qualities that could have been so valuable to us and which have been so badly missed. As far as I'm concerned his going to Leeds was a kop out and I doubt now that he will ever fulfill his undoubted potential.

Matty Fryatt:

========

His popularity endures but, once again, he has had a woeful season as a striker. His getting deeper into the box against Preston was the first signs I've seen of any tangible improvement in his game although I wouldn't fault his efforts in either first team or reserves. Clubs like our cannot cope with strikers misfiring as seriously as Fryatt. I would love things to change but am yet to be convinced that they will.

All our wingers:

==========

Not one of Newton, Bori, Laczko or Hume has consistently shown any of the qualities required of a winger and this has been a major reason for our underperformance this season.

Gareth McAuley:

==========

Might be a stalwart defender, particularly in the air, but I've noticed no improvement in his distribution and the ease with which we give away possession from the back has remained a major embarrassment.

Home Fans:

=======

Whatever atmosphere existed and became something to be proud of at the back end of last season has virtually gone and has largely been replaced by collective apathy. There is little sustained singing and while the players must shoulder much responsibility for that you wonder if the great lift the fans provided in our relegation struggle of last season will be as strong or even there at all this year.

PR:

===

The OS just like the Mercury/Radio Leicester etc should all be vehicles for positive communication and the lifting of spirits but there's little sign of any positive energy emanating from the OS. Holloway's clever remarks don't impress me one bit.

I don't really find him amusing at the best of times but what I want from Holloway is information, genuine reassurance, signs of clever, imaginative leadership and to be convinced that he really is a man who knows what he's doing and can handle the demands of the challenge facing him.

That needs to be shown through all the media channels open to him but particularly the OS. The fans need to be rallied and uplifted. They need to be given reasons to believe because at the moment the mood is much more one of "is our luck finally going to run out" after so much flirtation with the prospects of Division One.

In hindsight I'd attribute a large amount of our situation this season to Martin Allen's appointment. I think it's unfair to completely unleash our wrath on the man himself, Mandaric and his advisers deserve as much of the stick for appointing him in the first place.

I'm still optimistic about Holloway. I think he's a builder, I think he's a motivator, but I think any manager needs time to establish themselves and being thrown onto a sinking ship and being expected to steer it instantly success is hugely unfair. Don't get me wrong, if we're relegated - or even if we scrape through on the last day - I'll be immensely disappointed in Mr. Holloway. But I'm still cautiously optimistic and I still think we're going to be safe this year.

I think, looking at what he "built" at Plymouth, Holloway needs a full season from me before I'm willing to admit he's a lesser manager than I'd hoped.

This is rather akin to picking the ten worst pieces of junk mail I've received this year, there all as bad as each other & I can't be arsed to sift through the shit!

the mistake wasn't sacking him it was appointing him

Biggest disappointment of the season? Martin Allen. Had such high hopes when he arrived, and I was resigned to a lost season of relegation dog fighting when he went. Whatever the reason for his departure; drugs, eccentricity or otherwise, I was bitterly disappointed.

In fact, there have been very few players who have not been disappointments.

Fulop, Bori? Kisnorbo?

Help me out here!

1. Milan Mandaric - Although I credit him for saving the club and his passion for the game, he needs a massive senses check after this season. His appointment of Martin Allen proved to be a terrible one and we have ended up changing the sheets of this club far too many times, admittedly some out of his control but his early 'hands-on' approach I feel has cost us and caused disharmony in the club, hopefully he is starting to learn now.

2. Radostin Kishishev - As a proven player in this country and internationally hes been a tremendous let down, I remember seeing him against Accrington and he didn't even look like he could cope with that level of football, a real let down.

3. Hossein Kaebi - Unproven admittedly in this league despite coming with a huge pedigree and world wide recognition, proved ineffective.

4. Martin Allen - All mouth and no trousers, majority of signings proved to be crap.

5. Jimmy Neilson - His hair was the only thing that brightened up the place in his presence, otherwise nothing.

6. Carl Cort - Big reputation........for being a crock, and for me, i'd sooner he be on the physio table than on my pitch, absolutely useless, Chelsea aside.

7. DJ Campbell - A respectable goal tally last season but the majority of his performances this season have left me questioning his price tag.

8. Alan Shush! - Overrated and has found his level now.

9. Paul Henderson - Learn to kick, Learn to catch, in fact go back to Goalkeeping school.

10. The Birch - Retire, please.

I'm not going to say the fans, despite how some people, me included, have a good moan at the state of the atmosphere at the Walkers, I credit each and every one of us for making it as far as the turnstiles.

1. Milan Mandaric- I'm glad he's here but he's done himself no favours this season. The hiring of Martin Allen has proved to be a poor decision in the long term run of things and we're in this mess mainly due to the shite he signed over the summer. Milan's been quite rash at times, and I've never agreed with his appointment of Megson in the first place.

2. Martin Allen- Like most others I was very pleased when we appointed him and disgusted when we sacked him. But over this season it's been proved that he virtually ruined the team this season. Half the players he signed have now been released due to his incompetence in the transfer market.

3. Player recruitment- Terrible, the main reason we're in our situation this season. Jimmy Nielsen, Shaun Newton, Carl Cort, Hossein Kaebi, I could go on. All thse players were signed in the summer and all have now been released.

4. Stephen Clemence- Just hasn't got going all season. Has the odd good game now and again but his overall level of performance just hasn't been good enough. Disappointing for him really.

5. Iain Hume- But this is down to bad management. His performances on the right wing have been awful and this is where he has played for the majority of the season.

A collective Leicester City Football Club.

What a major disappoint for the 5th season running!

Can I just say, Holloway is a tit. He's brought all his bad attributes with him like talking shit and making excuses but left his good attributes behind like being able to motivate players to perform above themselves.

I was hoping for great things from Howard, but he hasnn't looked much better than Carl Cort to be honest, he just doesn't get injured as much. Clemence has also been dire lately.

Ive forgot the most negative thing of the season.

The fact that my almost ever lasting burning hope of reaching the play offs has totally extinguished.

It just leaves me feeling hopeless, sad and angry about Leicester City, and everything to do with Leicester City this season.

1) Stephen Clemence - Remember when we signed him, was at work with a Forest fan who was way jealous. Thought he would sort the midfield out but been really poor

2) DJ- Also at work when we signed him and again Forest fan very jealous but what a waste of money in my opinion. He was suppose to fires us into the Premiership.

3) Hossein Kaebi - The lad really never had a real chance but after all that hype last summer ... Was a big let down.

4) Shaun Newton - Thought he did a really good job last season and remember signing him in the summer thinking how he was a very clever signing ...

5) Lacsko Zsolt - After the Cov game thought finally we have a real winger ... After Cov away thought he was maybe the worst winger i've seen in a leicester shirt

6) Ian Holloway - Wasn't a big fan of him when he was at QPR or Plymouth, i like the guy but just don't rate him as a manager.

7) Martin Allen/Milan - Wasted this season really for us ...

8) Steve Howard - Waste of money and past his best, wish we would have spent a million and a half on someone with a future.

9) Milan - After the forest game

10) All of them
