Collymore Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 http://www.thebluearmy.co.uk/details.asp?k...722009642501231 Lloyd Dyer believes he has proved a “few doubters wrong” ahead of Leicester City's big League One clash at MK Dons this afternoon (3.0)The 26-year-old winger returns to the Stadium MK having played an instrumental part in City's surge towards the title. Dyer was part of the Dons side which gained automatic promotion as League Two champions last season, as well as winning the Johnstone's Paint Trophy at Wembley. He said: “We did well, but I don't think the chairman (Pete Winkelman) tried hard enough to keep me. “They only offered me a one-year deal but I wanted to move to a big club and Leicester offered a three-year deal. “I had a few doubters saying I wouldn't be in the Leicester team after Christmas, and that really spurs me on. I like to think I've proved a point because I've played in every league game. “Playing regularly for Leicester was one of my targets, along with my goalscoring - I got 11 last season and now I'm up to nine.” But Dyer insists he still had “special times” at MK Dons and added: “I had two good seasons there. I was talking to one of their lads on the phone while I was on my way to training with Matty Fryatt the other day. “Matty couldn't believe it because, normally, players move on and you speak to maybe just one or two people, but I still speak to most of them. “Ideally, I'd like Leicester to go up as champions and MK to go up with us in second. “I've been looking out for their results ever since I left, not just because they're up there chasing us, but because I had good times there and want the club to do well.” City beat the Dons 2-0 at the Walkers Stadium in the first meeting in August, and Dyer said: “The manager (Roberto Di Matteo) didn't have much time to put his ideas across but since then he's worked wonders. They have gone from strength to strength. ” Dyer says City boss Nigel Pearson has indoctrinated a “hard to beat” mentality among the players. “We work hard for each other and our record of 20 games without losing speaks for itself. We are hard to beat and we have players who can win matches too,” said Dyer. It has been suggested this week that victory for City would all but clinch the title, but Dyer added: “We won't be thinking like that. We can't be complacent. “It would be a big win, but there are still a few games left.” - Well Lloyd, I'm a doubter and the only thing you've proved to me since Christmas is how consistently bad you can be. I find the whole article a bit uncomfortable
Daggers Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Dyer hattrick today - left peg, right peg and the hand of Llod
Collymore Posted 28 February 2009 Author Posted 28 February 2009 Dyer hattrick today - left peg, right peg and the hand of Llod Nah, this has got 0-0 written all over it IMO
StanSP Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Hope he can prove his old club wrong. Hope he shows that they shouldn't have let him go and instead should have gave him a better contract offer. Today is the day Lloyd where you turn your recent form around!!! Score a few!
Daggers Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Nah, this has got 0-0 written all over it IMO At the risk of turning this into the alternative matchday thread - I don't see this being goalless and I don't see us losing. They've been looking good against poor teams, we're better. Dyer is either going to be toss or raise his game and I fancy the later.

I just feel that both clubs might settle for a draw (without them realising it or not) It's a massive 6 pointer. I do hope Lloyd can regain form. I'm just worried that he's gone public with the fact he thinks he's been good this year!

The mentatlity changes which causes the type of football played to change. We just need to go for the win. Simple as that
Part Of The Crowd Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 That lad enjoyed his time here and SHOULD always be welcomed back with a great reception
StanSP Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 That lad enjoyed his time here and SHOULD always be welcomed back with a great reception I'm presuming he will get booed by some though...?
leftsideoverhere Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 I've been a doubter, too, and he's been poor in the last couple of home games. However, listening to the radio commentary of the Bristol game, I actually heard the phrase "Dyer beats his man" at least a couple of times. In the previous three games I don't think I'd seen him even try to take on a defender - his confidence and/or energy level was so low, he just banged in hopeful balls from outside to little effect. If he did have a go at defenders a bit more last week, it could be that he's started to turn the corner. In which case (a) NP will be proved right to have stuck with him in the team, and (b) MK might not enjoy his return. Hope that turns out to be true.
StanSP Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Although I've said I hope Dyer returns to form with a bang, I also feel that some MK Dons players will know his tricks, so i don't think we can expect the perfect performance from him today. We can expect a good one where he takes on defenders and puts in some good crosses. But defenders will know what he's capable of, and treat it as only they know how to.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 I'm presuming he will get booed by some though...? disgusting although it is i believe he will hopefully more people will applaud, i hope his name gets sung for all the blood sweat and tears he put into this club, absolute legend, no doubt about it. Rather than Keith Andrews who once he had a sniff of going put in the laziest performances i've ever seen and gave an infamous interview on Sky Sports News saying how he was too good for us. He did look rather good against united last week though, set up Blackburn's Goal.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Has he **** proved any doubters wrong. With nine goals?
BlabyFox Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 how'd he do today guys? - i couldn't make it to the game.
Webbo Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 how'd he do today guys? - i couldn't make it to the game. Same as normal, fair to crap.
Thracian Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Dyer didn't "prove" anything of a positive nature today any more than he has for the last couple of months.
Anish Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Dyer had a good spell at the start of the season - the last few months he's been woeful and today was no different. He has to get dropped at some point - if he's our no. 1 left winger next season in the Championship we'll be in for a struggle.
Hitesh Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 Dyer had a good spell at the start of the season - the last few months he's been woeful and today was no different. He has to get dropped at some point - if he's our no. 1 left winger next season in the Championship we'll be in for a struggle. It would be good to have him in the squad - I really think he needs some strong competition. I have the feeling he is taking his place for granted because he knows there isn't anyone good enough consistently to take his place. Big positions for the summer to fill are the wingers and I feel that we will see his performance improve greatly if he has to fight for his place.
RedOnRed Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 I had completely forgot how odd Dyer looks. He's sort of looks like he's wearing an American football player's shoulder pads along with the skinny legs of a 10 year old girl and played like one today.
Father Ted Posted 28 February 2009 Posted 28 February 2009 He's been absolutely terrible recently. When we get to the Championship, I would only keep him as a squad player at the most.
Candidcamera Posted 1 March 2009 Posted 1 March 2009 It's so often the case that certain players play well together. At the beginning of the season it was Gradel and Fryatt which created room for Dyer. He has an eye for a goal but as a straight winger he looks ordinary.
