I know it's a way away still, but it's a big match (though the treehumpers will doubtless deny having any great rivalry with us  ) and besides, I've never started one of these threads before and I think I'm due!

Obviously after the Brizzle result there's extra onus on the team to get a result here and with Forest flying high it's not going to be easy, as much as we would like think we can breeze past them without breaking sweat. But what are the factors we need to take into account?

  • King's injury - even if it's "not that bad", surely he's going to miss this one. It's a huge loss, but a chance for Oakley to prove he's still worth his place, or for Abe to come infield and dazzle us all. It might not be the disaster it seems at first - then again it could be terrible!
  • New players - loan deadline imminent and new players promised. Looking like probably Kirkland and Bednar as it stands, but would a week be enough time to fit them into the team? What's more, who would you drop? (Ok, so in Kirkland's position, it's obvious, but up front none of them are putting it away.)
  • Home Advantage - Fortress Welfo... oh, yeah, it's the Walkers , but of late we've been good at home and Forest have been poor - we haven't lost in our last 5 home and they have only won once away in the same time.

I would love a win, but my head says that a draw would be a decent result, especially if it's accompanied by a good performance and some goals from the front.

Let the wild speculation commence!

Big game this, any win would be great, though I think it will be a draw,

Not sure about what team to play, depends on the possible loans, and who is fit or whatever.

My team:

Weale/Kirkland

Naughton

Davies

Vitor/Hobbs

Cunningham

Abe

Wellens

King

Dyer

Gallagher

Howard/Bednar

Subs: Weale/Kirkland, Vitor/Hobbs, Oakley, Howard/Bednar, Waghorn, Vassell, Berner

Team for Forest (if loans and king are availible)

Kirkland

Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham

Vassel King Abe Dyer

Bednar Howard

Get some balls in the box and we will score goals with that strikeforce, plus have the two wingers high up the pitch ready for flick ons!

I think that Vassell should do some bench warming for this fixture and give Dyer a start. I am hoping that Vitor is playing too.

I don't think that it is going to be an easy win and although I am not overly confident, I am hoping for a draw/win. Hopefully the atmosphere will be good which wil spur the players on. Fingers crossed that Forest don't score first as that would be the kiss of death in my opinion. Our players seem to lose all spirit if something bad happens (like Howards's penalty miss at Bristol).

I also sit next to a Forest fan at work and I think that I will call in sick if they win :crylaugh:

Hopefully King will be fit. It will dent our chances big time if not but yeah hopefully Abe can fill his boots. If Oakley does take his place, he needs to put in a performance.

Bednar is big, like Howard, I'm told, so get Waggy on to catch Howard's flick ons and Bednar can come to take Howard's place meaning we don't lose all height and strength like we usually do when Howard comes off. All we need is for Waghorn, Howard, Vassell, Fryatt to actually put away their chances and we'd be flying!

Kirkland; Naughton, Davies, Hobbs, Cunningham; Dyer, Abe, Wellens, Gallagher; Howard, Waghorn. Subs: Weale, Vitor, Berner, Moussa, Oakley, Vassell, Bednar.

Think this will be a very tough game with Forest beating Cardiff away at the weekend they will be coming here with nothing to fear .

My team would be

................Weale / Kirkland ?

Naughton... Davies.. Hobbs.. Cunningham

........................... Abe

............... Wellens...Moussa.

Dye........ .................................Gallagher

.................Howard / Bednar ?

We will give them a twatting of epic proportions.

They will be the ones to incur the frustration from a stuttering start to the season.

5-0 to us.

Are we that much better than them? Of course not. They are a good team, but every now and then you get a freak result and this will be the one.

Given the state of our squad, injured/ill etc... I reckon we'll have pretty much the same side that started against Cardiff.

Camp

Gunter Chambers Morgan Bertrand

McCleary Moussi Cohen McGugan

Earnshaw (or Madjewski)

Adebola

I'm hoping Anderson will be fit to replace McCleary though and that Tyson, Wilson and McKenna can at least make the bench.

2-1 to the reds. ;)

Just win. I couldn't give a shit how, just do it.

Front 3 could do with a freshen up..Lloyd is due a start, with Waggy on other side and Steve is certainly required to boss Wes Morgan who let's face it still to this day has matty Fryatt in his pocket from te 5-1 defeat.

Worried about King not playing, he's become our most important member of the team. Wellens and Abe in the midfield so we should play at least one winger, Dyer or Moussa (or both) to start.

As Tommeh said Fryatt struggled against Morgan so maybe give Big Steve a go to begin with, with Gallagher next to him.

If we don't turn up with our shooting boots on we will be in for a long night, If we do turn up and grab two or three goals it could really kick start our season

We'll smash 'em. Win by 3 goals at least.

Only thing worrying me is that Forest have scored a shed load of goals from long range so far this season and they will be even more keen to shoot on sight given Weale's recent problems in that department.

Weale/Kirkland

Naughton Davies Hobbs Cunningham

Abe Wellens

Gallagher Moussa Dyer

Bednar/Waghorn

Subs: Vitor, Howard, Vassell, Fryatt, Bruno, Oakley, Weale/Kirkland

Got a feeling Waghorn will get one if he's given >20minutes.

Come on city!! :scarf:

Naughton Hobbs Davies Cunningham

Abe Wellens Oakley

Vassell Waghorn Dyer

No Weale because McGugan will score a hat-trick from inside his own half. Oakley in for King if he's out.

No Howard because he's slow, restricts our play and can't score form open play for love nor money.

Dyer has to come in because Gallagher is shit. Waghorn is in there on merit because of the only other option is Fryatt.

In an ideal world, Sven would recall Dany and our front three would be Dany, Vassell and Dyer.

2-0 win with this team, 3-0 loss if Howard or Fryatt play.

I thought we could only bring in 1 more loan player...?

2 more - 5 is the limit for domestic players (who also have to stay at home doing the cleaning, ironing, etc) who are Cunningham, Davis and Naughton at the moment. Vitor is from Portugal and doesn't count towards the total.

This is what I'm lead to believe.
