Nice place imo, can see Ireland on a clear day

You've been predicting ww3 and a forest europa win for months. If I had to choose which of them I didn't want to come true, obviously it's this one.

That Arsenal away game still pains me even if it didn't make a difference. Just about forgave Wasilewski, but only just.

Having lived a few years in grimy North London I don't associate their fan base with ya Ollies, ya Tobies. Which is funny because in the late 90s they were your quintessential club of the middle class nouveau fan, as spoofed in the fast show.

Come to think of it, we've never been the same since Leicester cathedral was closed for work in January 2022, the same year York started their rise back up the leagues. Somebody obviously disturbed the tomb during renovations...

How many leagues below us were they at one point? I only ask so I can shock friends down the pub when they're a league above us next year.

I love the idea of a Polish politician making his name campaigning to get rid of the Poles

I think football will go the same was as most culture in the internet age. An Americanised mush that retains very little national characteristics or differences save for whatever superficial 'fan culture' the producers want to highlight, served up in bite sized chunks to an audience whose attention span can't last past five minutes. There'll be huge, rich clubs, and there'll be no money non-league clubs, but nothing in between.

This is repeating a lot I've posted on this thread but: See - museo di san Marco, especially early in the morning. Eat - il pizzaiolo is the best pizza in the city. Covered market used to have great food but it's probably very touristy now. I used to go loads to Benvenuto, not sure if it's still good. Drink - around Piazza santo spirito and the quieter parts over the arno have some good bars. Some good places to eat round Santo spirito too. Day trips - Siena is absolutely full but still a beautiful city. Lucca is quite nice. Fiesole and Settignano two nice villages with great views of Florence.

Looking at these I may not even bother -
He's missing his true calling of being an angry audience member on question time

Wellens interview is exactly what we don't want imo. You don't see really good managers slagging off players in public unless it's Mourinho a week before he gets sacked. I realise of course we aren't in the market for "really good managers".

I'm assuming you also went for '____ note' at the start. Perfectly acceptable imo! -
Well I was wrong thank goodness. Very impressive guy.

You need to stop doing this. I thought you'd learnt your lesson after Cooper, van Nistelrooy, Cifuentes and Rowett. It's not healthy.

I'd just got back to my apartment in time for the start of the second half. I'd been teaching an evening class in a nearby town and followed the first half on the train back home. The ten minutes or so after Hazard scored were surreal. I can't really remember much about it other than I was in some kind of transcendental haze like the tunnel of light at the end of 2001 Space Odyssey. I called my Mum, who'd watched them lose 3 FA Cup finals. Thought about my grandad, who saw six swans flying over Filbert Street. Then my flatmate - probably the only Neapolitan I've met who didn't like football - knocked on my door brandishing a bottle of wine his father had called him up to tell him to buy for his Leicester supporting housemate. We got through it, then went down and bought more, and finally got to bed about 3am. The next day, severely hungover, I rolled out of bed near midday and wandered to the newsagents to buy the last Gazzeta left - with Storico Titolo per il Leicester written on the front. I sat and read it in the square with a coffee and cake, another surreal moment for someone who grew up with Football Italia on Saturday mornings. I thought that was as weird as life could possibly get. Over the next decade, life got a lot weirder. But it never got any better.

I've posted this before but I like that he talks about specific things the team did well but could also improve. So much better than the usual hackneyed crap like "I think the occasion was too big for us" that you get from a lot of the managers in the EFL.

Thoughts turn to a final day thrashing of Blackburn in 1997, and Stuart Wilson getting on the scoresheet
