Ultimately, that's likely to be worse.

Are you blaming the Tories? I really hope so. Also, unless you were doing 100mph in a 30 whilst being chased by a police car, I doubt incarceration would be the outcome. Look forward a speed awareness course where you will be patronised for 4 hours. At least you'll get tea and biscuits.

For the older one, in short no, sadly. Younger daughter works on a zero hours contract in hospitality about 10-12hrs a week so there's some hope there. Neither have any meaningful relationships. Older daughter has cut herself off from any friends she did have and now lives as a virtual recluse. Younger daughter has interaction when she's working but other than contacts through her gaming, nothing. We're working on her social anxiety but it's long and difficult.

Thanks for this. And you're probably right but, who knows? If our eldest had been adopted by different people it could have turned out better for her or maybe not. I can say however that despite all the traumas, the violence, the MH issues and many other things that have tested our resolve, we have never turned our backs on her although ostensibly she now wants nothing to do with us, yet she still sends up to 200 abusive, unpleasant, nasty insulting, texts a day. But that's her MH. Having a child/children born to you is a lottery. In most cases it's fine and kids and their families thrive. With adoption, you do have a choice. Adopters need to think very carefully and take all the time to read file notes, understand the child's background and reason for adoption as well as any family history that's available and DON'T be pressured by the adoption agencies to proceed if you're not 100% sure the child is right for you, and you for the child. Unfortunately, that happened to us and we've had an extremely difficult life as a result. If you want, I'm happy to PM with you on this.

Slightly off topic but, with regard to having children, my wife and I struggled with IVF and then we adopted. Anxiety has been the biggest thing we suffer from and that's as a direct result of adopting. Unfortunately, due to pre-adoption trauma, our eldest (now 32) has ongoing and quite difficult emotional and mental health issues. Our younger (now 26) came to us as a 3 month old, with no trauma and was perfectly happy and well as a baby and small child. Sadly she too now suffers from anxiety and is quite socially reclusive as a result of what she experienced within our family caused by the unfortunate difficult fallout from the eldest. I can honestly say, if we had known back then what our lives would be like over the last 30 years, we would have chosen not to adopt and had a much better life with just the 2 of us.

I'd not heard of this until your post. Just listened courtesy of Amazon Music. His unique guitar style and song writing is just so... unique. Lovely to listen to and a revelation to me. The Beach Boys... enough said!

I always felt my parents protected me from the bad things going on in the world when I was young, the Cuban missile crisis, the Cold war, JFK's assassination, Russian nuclear war threats. Spy wars. I was aware and I watched stuff on the news but dear old mum and dad made sure I wasn't ignorant of the real facts and knowledge is not only power but also reassuring. There was nobody else telling me shit that was extreme or frightening or that made me anxious. Sure, nuclear war was scary but I only had 2 sources of information, the news and my parents. Now, kids are bombarded with half-truths, outright lies, misinformation, propaganda. Not to mention sexually explicit images and messages that influence young people to behave and interact in a certain way with their peers, and in some cases the expectation of sexual encounters in that, girls in particular, are objectified online and "expected" to behave like those that the lads see on porn sites. Bullying at school was dealt with pretty well as everyone, including school staff, knew who the bullies were. Now it's almost impossible to stop as online accounts can be changed with a few clicks and the once blocked individual has access again. As mentioned before, Pandora's box is well and truly open. No going back now. It's a shame that so much good that has and will come from the internet, has been hijacked, abused and clouded by those who mean ill towards individuals and the world at large.

How did you manage to transpose that figurative image of Mr Hankey onto the badge?

I just wonder if it was "white" people that did this in order to further stir up division and resentment. And we know where that leads.

After 14 years of the Tories. What did they do to put it right? Is the word "apparently" intended to suggest something else? Also, who has called him "Captain Hindsight", except you?

Music, like art and women is a subjective taste.

Thanks but I wasn't being specific, I just used her as an example of a poor return for your money.

Imagine paying that and then finding out that the headline finale is Shania Twain.

Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds are pretty dull and uninspiring IMO.

Maybe it's an age thing. When I was younger (in my 30's/40's) I didn't mind the jostling, pushing and shoving in the standing areas nor the shuffling along to get out with a thousand other people. But now it's the access/egress that is so unpleasant. 2 hours or more queueing to get out of the parking areas is a real grind. If I could get dropped in and lifted out by helicopter I'd go to more.

Music taste is mostly subjective and my own tastes can vary depending on my state of mind but right now and for some years, my top 5 favourite albums are, in no particular order: Songbird, Eva Cassidy. Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Beatles. Bat Out of Hell, Meatloaf Rumours, Fleetwood Mac Greatest Hits, David Bowie.

Like Skol, then? I know it's not really. I don't drink lager very often but when I do I usually go for this, just for me: If we have friends over I'll get Staropramen. As mentioned earlier, get the authentic Czech, not British brewed under licence. That's something I don't get, if they're using the same ingredients and brewing process as they do in the country of origin, why do British brewed lagers/beers, (and in fact, Guinness) taste like a poorer version?
