the problem is he’s already been defined and signing Ayew should just be expected at this point. Didn’t learn from Bertrand, didn’t learn from vestergarde, didn’t learn from Bennett… christ we didn’t learn from coady. If a prem team wants rid it’s usually because they are bad, past it or both. Can’t think of a single time an aging prem player has left a mid table club and kept someone up, in basically a giveaway deal. These are the scraps of clubs and we are paying actual money for them?

they gave us 1.5 days of optimism before smashing us back to earth.

Leicester 'could face points deduction next season'
Lambert09 replied to ClaphamFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
yep and this season it looks like the gap in class from the top 12 to the rest is significant. Don’t think we’ll be seeing as many surprises. I’m terrified to see us play villa, west ham, wolves, newcastle… which is outragous. When we originally went up there were only 6 clubs to be worried about. -
Bastards heard me

Tbf, brentford we’re better without toney last season… until mbuemo got injured. He’s a very good striker and they have schade fit now and carvalho. I’d be surprised if they did get sucked in, even if Toney leaves without replacement
-
But in what scenario are we spending the money? we obviously had something to spend as we significantly bid for soule… so we know we have a little kitty for one player. if it’s not him and it’s not zaha…. then are we using it on someone else? or is all of this going on loan fees now. Id be fuming if our budget goes on a left back. I don’t think a newly promoted club spending 40m total is that risky… it’s just not. But to get back on the right path as a club we need to buy players, improve them and sell for profit, that’s our model. We are just bleeding assets this way and likely going on an embargo in the championship

I very much see us in a mini league with southampton, ipswich, forest, everton… i’m hoping bournemouth (if the solanke blow hits them hard) and fulham. Im not convinced anyone else will be drawn into the dog fight. Brentford will do their usual floating around there but ultimately pulling away comfortably. Wolves will start low due to their horrific fixtures but there’s no chance they are even in the battle come mid season. The route of safety could come 2 ways in my mind (both relying on ipswich and southampton struggling) , one is that everton get a similar points knock as us and we do better over the course of the season. The other is that silva doesn’t get away with what appears a terrible window. They’ve lost tosin and paulina yet haven’t sensibly replaced them, instead they’ve gone for smith-rowe… who is a game changer but could get injured in game one, he’s certainly a large risk. So defensively they are a lot weaker, harrison reed will not fill those boots for a season and short of a late bit of good business they will ship more goals. The other issues are up top. Their best player willian is surely too old now, so he’s regressing and the final question mark is muniz for me. He had a breakout season, but that could always be a flash in the pan. No guarantee he continues that output and if doesn’t they are in serious hot water. So for me, this is the club that gives me hope

Yeah it might be right, i’m not knocking the club for it. Just would personally prefer it to be permanent, as i see him being a valuable asset. we could potentially just have a release clause in his contract if we go down. One that just makes us a little money and pays for a replacement in the championship

don’t trust salzburg anymore
-
i made a post about this yesterday. He can’t defend, he’s in now way suited to our current situation
-
I k on now it’s sensible but I think it’s genuinely bad business to have the obligation connected to premier league survival. Im so sure we’d make a profit on this guy… now he’s going to smash it and we aren’t going to be able to get him because we go down anyway. It’ll be a lookman situation all over again. My only hope is that there is still an option if we want to pay it
-
really it’s that bad? I’d have thought they just see the dollar signs. Just surprised he’s not at least been linked to them. He’s the type of forward they’ve used for the last couple of seasons. Just a general observation though maybe they scouted and just see better value elsewhere or maybe you’re right and they realise it’s not feasible with their owner
-
if there’s a player smashing it in your league and you know they are a top top player… of course you’d try to sign them. I think we’ve been linked with a lot of players in belgium because naturally we have eyes on that market through leuven. I understand that we’ve not done too much but just feels like there would an extra layer of expertise.
-
The only thing boggling me, is why forest aren’t interested. Their owner is obviously well aware on greek football and they are keen on a striker, as they bid for evanilson. So it’s a strange one that if he’s that good, that they wouldn’t be all over this
-
supposedly it is us trying to pay less taxes. It’s a loop hole. I don’t understand it but supposedly us paying a fee is better to us than paying the exact same but listed as wages But basically we are just paying the wage

the backtrack we all needed

Doughty is great but i’m not convinced he would be for us. He’s too defensively suspect and we’re not strong enough to get away with it. The reality is that he probably cost luton more goals than he helped them score… but obviously he catches the eye. If we had 3 rock solid defenders next to him it would be hard to argue but he’s far better suited to someone like west ham. You also have to bare in mind that most of his chance creation were whipped crosses into the box, we don’t have a suitable striker for that type of approach, luton we’re designed for that ball into the box. I don’t like dismissing it because i love him as a player but thats just my opinion anyway.
-
i’m going to dream of all 3 until it’s ruled out. It sounds like fotis is the least likely but probably the most important one for us. I can’t take another season of missed tap ins. We won’t get away with it in the prem, we need a proper bagsman
-
Tbh even at his age, an obligation to buy would be fine…. if it was based on survival: It might be bad business but if he keeps you up then it really doesn’t matter.
-
As with the Soule deal, there’s a real lack of comprehension of a percy tweet. Just read what he says. If he says a bid has been made, that’s probably true, that doesn’t mean it’s a done deal. He never on either deal stated that it was done or even was close… just that we were trying.

i’d be happy with both tbh

he’s genuinely our best player. If he’s not starting on Monday then i’ll have already given up on Cooper

if there’s any truth in this… we might as well pack it all in now and close the transfer thread.
