I’ve never seen a manager this broken before playing a competitive game before. That’s the look and body language of someone who’s feeling completely fooked.

If I had to guess, it’s just that he’s a bit average. I remember Enzo even saying something along the lines of - he finishes well but the rest of his game needs some work. That type of comment screams of a striker that can’t play alone. If you’re the lon striker you need to either have unreal hold up game, or be lightning quick… I feel like he had neither. Finishing alone isn’t quite enough as it’s too reliant on others. He’s shown good signs which is why we are all more confused but I can see how perhaps in training he just doesn’t have those qualities to play alone. Begs the question of why did we buy him but it seemed like a bit of a panic but of a proven championship goal scorer. Which was a little wild when we had 3 of the premier league strikers still at the club.

I have a theory for this. I think what we are witnessing is a very tough undoing of the previous manager. I think Cooper is stuck in a limbo where the players have been successful and enjoyed playing marescas way… which means he can’t just scrap it all together and play his way. This is causing him to try to play more like enzo, which doesn’t suit him and he probably lied and said he could in the interview process. We now have a manager not fully in control, players that are confused on what they should be doing and on top of that a lack of quality due to incompetence in the board room. I don’t think we can judge cooper right now because he’s stuck in this space and it will take a while to implement his blueprint when the owners are desperate to play this way. In short and very unsurprisingly, the board have fudged it and gone for a square peg in a round hole. We either allow cooper to do what he needs or we will be playing imitation football and getting hammered everywhere we go

you’re forgetting lining up to burnley with ndidi, hamza and mendy it was atrocious at times but he did do a tremendous job in the transfer market
