I must admit, Ive gone through all the stages of grief with this club but right now its just empty nothingness. There was always the feeling that we could make the right decisions and get back on track, Enzo briefly made me believe we could still achieve it. But right now, I think it’s time to accept, it’s over. There’s no bounce, no recovery, this is now a complete scrap and start again scenario. when did you truly know it was over for us? Because I can’t be the only one that this feels like that final moment of hope is gone?

It’s because nobody wants a safe option. McBurnie and Moore are proven and you know what you will get. It’s natural to want to aim for something better, I have no problem with taking a punt on someone with a higher ceiling… the issue, is that I don’t think that’s what we did. We’ve been incredibly lazy with it and found an easy no commitment deal and I struggle to believe he was well scouted, as the last time he played well was in the states. I think an agent has put him forward and we’ve gone yep, that works for us. Because I just can’t fathom how anyone with an ounce of judgement watched him play and thought he looked like he’d be a success.

For whatever reason I don’t think ruud ever took a look at him. I think we were just desperate for him to leave in Jan and probably treated him poorly because of that. it was always weird that palace actually used him that season more than us.

100%, we were getting better results than we deserved and the stats rarely lie. we’ve been performing as a bottom half championship side

You have to factor in the extra space a good striker makes for everyone else. I think it would be astonishing how much better we would look with a half decent forward.
