It’s turning into the season we all expected tbh.

There’s such a thing as picking a too good team. Because for me, on Saturday he just about got it right. (Don’t think there’s a winning answer at striker right now short of giving a youngster a shot) For me we looked very good in that first half… problem is, when he looked to the bench every option made us weaker and when we needed a spark from the bench there was nobody who was going to give us that. It made it impossible for us to reenergize us on the pitch because all we did was bring on worse players that have no impact. With mavididi out we really didn’t have any game changers on the bench and that’s why there really should have been an opportunity for Evan’s

He really reminds me of Barnes. Got to be said though, that defending was pathetic, worse than our first teams attempt to stop the Portsmouth goal not sure the defender wanted the ball to touch him

Really hope the deal was the barrier to him being involved and that now marti uses him.

Slot really rode in on the coattails of klopp didn’t he? Feels similar to Claudio, not quite as drastic but he worked well with what someone else had put together but the more he took control the worse they look. He’s a good coach but he’s completely over tinkered and made them worse for it. Just today, they had a cam at rb. A cb up front. the top scorer striker on the wing. Then the rb came on at rw. Just shambolic when you think about the money they’ve spent that they still need everyone to play different positions. Why didn’t they just sign the type of players the manager needed for the roles. Lunacy at its finest. They were trailing by one goal but flipped to a 424, which was a little extreme and chaotic. In pre-season it felt bold signing frimpong and kerkez, because they just didn’t match the roles for the system. It was evident they were going to ship goals but I didn’t think it would Be this bad for them. He’s got a lot to fix in a short amount of time if they want to keep up with the pack.

It was a shocking bit of play but he can’t be blamed for the goal. A striker should be able to do what they think is best and not expect that if they lose the ball a team will waltz up the other end and score. The bigger problem is that he doesn’t look like he’d score if he played 25 games. If marti has anything about him, we should be seeing a youth player in the role shortly.

Weird game because a fair number of the players went from having great games to stinkers. Luke Thomas started very well imo, I thought he was going to have his best game of the season, then he took a corner, over hit it and went to complete crap. winks was another, he was looking very tidy made some crucial defensive blocks then just collapsed and looked out of sorts

That’s a very odd thing to take from the game. Hamza delivered just about the only bit of quality at the end of the game when we needed it. While when we needed Ayew he lets one ball roll out for a throw and miscontrols the next.

Both him and daka go down far too easily. Such an easy thing to coach out of the game but we never seem to. it does come hand in hand with being useless though as it’s a way to save grace after losing the ball over and over again

I got my video working better, just had to automatically select a lower quality, rather than auto. Still think it’s them rather than my internet mind

That palace- Bournemouth game is an example of what happens when 2 good teams actually show up to win a game. This used to be more common. The modern game is ruined by managers who just play it safe. Fair play to both of them for just pushing their teams to go for it
