If you understand the context of the chant then it’s no way got any racist motivations at all. The song gets sung at almost every ground week in week out. I’d be shocked if the club wasn’t already looking at the footage and issuing banning orders this week. I think the statement speaks volumes for the way the club sees themselves as completely seperate and independent of the supporters. Supporters have been peacefully trying to have their voices heard for at least 4 years now and not a peep from anyone at the club. The second a perceived line has been crossed they find a voice. As for the statement from the combined supporters groups, I’d love to know who initiated that statement? And the cynic in me wonders who at the club prompted who in which supporters groups to make the statement.
