I know people said this last season, but I can't see us going down. We have signed so many players that I don't think we will dislike as much as the last batch, especially given that they are so new still. They don't have that losing stink on them. Yes theres some we want gone still, but as said, its not 9 of the starting 11 as before. I have said mid table previously, and I can still see that. Hope we get a run like Russel pulled off at Southampton before.

2nd this. I kept seeing his face and it popping up on news apps but didn't read any of it and the whole time I was thinking, why is this getting so much coverage... Surely not a scandal worthy of deep dives into his past and the such. Media will be deleting articles like crazy now.

Nailed on Bristric injury, out for the season within the next month

Bit too small for my liking

I suppose Fryatt was 12. I just meant as some players put weight on receiving a certain number when signing.

Does Bristric being #9 confirm he's our main striker and anyone else we get in is back up?

Sorry if it's been said - Would we be the first club to win The prem, fa cup, league cup and this if we do it?

Russell Martin - Confirmed as First Team Manager

We all want Russel to do well. Of course, him doing well will directly affect our happiness as fans (playstyle entertainment questione aside). He has said the right things for the most part and our signings, although we desperately lack a couple of strikers and a central defender, have been alright. He's a likeable guy with a very clear philosophy which is admirable. However, a massive part of me worries we'll see a repeat of previous seasons. Let's not forget, none of us wanted this appointment, not because dislike him as a person, because we're sick to death of different forms of the same old pass it to death at the back. It's an appointment that seems was based on VIBES alone and 0 statistical analysis. I was looking over Dave Challinor's stats again today and it's mind-blowing that he wasn't our #1 target, proven at this level but also proven to bring success, with every single one of his 15 completed full seasons ending in either promotion or a play-off place. A win rate of 51%. Yes some of that is lower leagues, but he got Stockport from the national League nearly to the championship. Their budget was decent but you still have to do it. I don't think we even considered him. Fingers crossed we have a great season but I'm predicting mid table under Russel. Prove me wrong and get us up please! -
Unfortunately lads I'm hearing this has fallen through. Rudkin had the transfer agreement shipped via the Strait of Hormuz. There are now doubts if it will reach us in time for the deadline.

Watching this autodubbed to English feels like a fever dream 🤣

I haven't done any research particularly but when you think Tolaj and Ballard went for less than this, there has to be many of that ilk across Europe. I'd have taken a punt on someone prolific from a league two outfit or conference. Better than square pegs in round holes we may see if we don't get two competent 9s in. Regarding budget, take your point but this search has been dragging on for years and years. If 4-5m is the difference between a much increased chance of promotion, they've gotta scrape it together imo. I suppose the linked striker ATM fits this bill to a degree but I think he's more risky than someone already familiar with English football, be that league two even.
-
We're literally desperate for what we had last time we were in league one, two distinct strikers that could finish and score goals in different ways. I'm shocked we've not just paid the £5m or so it would take to get a striker of real quality in. A decent #9 could easily be the difference between top 2 and 14th, and if we only sign Bristric, I don't think we go up.

Exciting signing, he will tear league one apart. Welcome, Ravi

Surely he signs a deal now? Should be able to secure it on good terms for us

Nothing shady about the nominal fee imo. He accepted a one year deal at Ipswich let's say hypothetically on £20k a week? We come in with a 3 year deal on 10k a week, with a promotion bonus up to 12-15k. Although it's less for him, he's willing to accept as its probably his last decent contract length anywhere and works out at more, especially if we go up, and Ipswich don't want to deny him that as he's been great for them. That's also why we've done a 3 year deal, he wouldn't have come for any less on what we can afford to give him weekly in league one. -

Everyone is slating him, but we desperately need some experience for the group. He'll really help the young members of the medical staff to improve their sports massaging ability and crutch handing out technique.

Nige has singlehandedly fought off a pack of wolves, Russel stands no chance.

He was given chance after chance and missed sitter after sitter. Doesn't matter if he goes on to score 60 goals this season, for us he wasn't good enough.
