I always used to combine my love of Leicester with my ability to quote The Simpsons and went with "Stupider Like a Fox" Was also apt as I was terrible at Fantasy Football

Well pleased with this one

My lad goes to school in a village in North Wales. He is not the only kid in his class to have a Leicester shirt, two others do. Having spoken to their parents (who are Everton and Wrexham fans) they are "glory hunters". Delighted about this and also that my lad is a proper fan 😂

Best Goal You've Seen... Scored AGAINST Us

I remember that one as well. Richard Sneekes was great. This prompted me to look him up and I had no idea he played three games for Hinckley. -

Letting that fourth goal in straight after the kickoff from the third... eeh we used to be rotten 😂 -
Best Goal You've Seen... Scored AGAINST Us

He was well into his forties by that point I think. Oh god, so am I. -
This was something I was debating with a mate the other day. What's the best goal you've ever seen scored against us? Have tried to find it on YouTube but can't for the life of me... but one night in October 1994 we played Brighton at Filbert Street in the League Cup. We were already 1-0 down after the first leg and Stuart Munday pops up with an absolute screamer from 35 yards. I remember it being the only goal we conceded that my Dad just applauded because it was that good. The memory might be better than the reality but did wonder if any other goals stick out in people's memories.

Have we left our ‘rivals’ behind?
jimsmallman replied to FuriousFox46's topic in Leicester City Forum
As I used to say onstage "I grew up in Hinckley, which is halfway between Leicester and Coventry. So you grew up supporting one of two teams... Leicester City... or Manchester United" I really, really, really hate Cov. I used to argue with my Dad all the time about who we should hate more (him being more in the Forest hatred camp) I do miss all the local derbies though. Some great days out. -
I don't recall many seasons where we've scored so many absolute belters

From reading this topic and everyone's replies all it does is underline to me that we all love our football team a lot more than those fans of so-called "huge" teams. The joy of the league win and the FA Cup win and various promotions is only made the more sweet by countless relegations, going bust, and dare I say it, missing out on fourth place a couple of times. It is never dull supporting us. I hope my son (aged four) doesn't grow up as entitled as so many United and Liverpool fans do because we're no longer the yo-yo club that I started watching in the eighties. I mean, at least convincing him to support us isn't that tricky these days!

What caused us to not get it done today?
jimsmallman replied to NasPb's topic in Leicester City Forum
It wasn't yesterday. We lost twelve games. TWELVE! It's mad when you think about it (and yes, awesome that we won twenty). Even when we were 2-1 up we looked leggy and knackered which isn't a surprise with the size of the squad and how many games we've played within a huge injury crisis (that gets nowhere near the same amount of column inches as Liverpool's does) We're not a top four side yet, but we're going about becoming one the right way. Fifth two years in a row for a club of our size is astonishing, especially when we won the league in 2016 and essentially annoyed all the "big" clubs into trying to keep us out of the upper echelons forever. I don't think we'll necessarily challenge for top four again next season but we won't be in the relegation mix and I would have snapped your hand off for a few years of that a decade ago. -
It really is a good achievement for the bloke. Crazy stat: St Johnstone won both the League Cup and Scottish Cup with a single goal from Shaun Rooney in each final, in the 32nd minute of each game. And in winning a cup double they apparently beat odds of 10000-1...

If you want to give yourself a migraine then I suggest reading the comments on the clubs Instagram post about the new kit. Good lord. I quite like it, my son loves it, I couldn’t care less about the sponsor as long as they’re paying us through the nose.

Imagine how much we'll be buzzing now when we beat Spurs 2-1 in the last minute and Chelsea have been held to a draw at Villa. You know we're never going to do things simply. Also... if we finish fifth and win the Cup... that'll do. Some fans dream of that. I know I did when we were in League One. Yours Sincerely, A man midway through a divorce who still at least has his football team

Chelsea away, Tues 18th May (For Ric Flair)
jimsmallman replied to HighPeakFox's topic in Leicester City Forum
We'll probably get beat, but wouldn't it be hilarious if WBA beat Liverpool today and none of this matters. Then we beat Spurs anyway because they're garbage and it's funny. Although winning on Tuesday, ideally with a ton of VAR decisions, would please me in making Tuchel lose it even more. This is what you get for not wearing a suit to the Cup Final lad -

I celebrated that goal so loudly that my four year old son is now scared of football. I have watched the goal again roughly 500 times since last night. Even American work colleagues who don't care for "soccer" have messaged me to say what a great goal it was. What a player that lad is. -

FA Cup Final pre match thread (Chelsea)

Was driving back up north today and all of a sudden it hit me HOLY **** WE'RE IN THE FA CUP FINAL TOMORROW Ever take a step back and think how mad supporting us has got over the past decade? Lunacy. I love it. -
I have such an unreasonable hatred for Newcastle. Like when we beat them in 2016 and all commentary wanted to talk about was Rafa being the saviour... never mind us being on the verge of winning the league.
-
The amount of times I went to Highbury to watch us get beat... it's hilarious to see that we usually have Arsenal's number these days. Spurs have always been dreadful mind

LCFC 2-1 Crystal Palace - Post Match Thread

I was "secretly" watching the game whilst in a zoom meeting. After Evans last-ditch tackle I clearly put my colleagues on alert that I was watching something in my peripheral vision. When Iheanacho scored they absolutely noticed. Worth it- 360 replies

I wish they'd all get points deducted but we all know they won't. I remember Spurs getting a big points deduction in the nineties, and Man City getting their European ban and they just argue till that stuff goes away. Probably should be satisfied with the spectacular failure of all this but I'd really like to stick the proverbial boot in to these charlatans. Who do we reckon had the most fans who thought the Super League was a good idea? I think it's between Liverpool and Spurs from what I've seen.

Games I was at that stick out in the memory... not always the best games, but meant the world to me. Grimsby Town 1 - 2 Leicester 2002 - Chasing promotion, went down to ten men and then Muzzy scored the best goal I've ever seen. Plus I got home and found out my wife was pregnant with my daughter. Leicester 4 - 0 Leeds 2003 - That Nalis goal, plus smashing Leeds is always hilarious. Bolton 0 - 1 Leicester 2014 - hadn't been to a game for a while because of work and managed to get a ticket to see us win the Championship. Had a gig the next day that I had to cancel because I couldn't speak after singing so much. Leicester 2 - Palace 1 1996 - Good old Claridge shinned it in whilst everyone was distracted by us bringing Spider on. Southend 0 - Leicester 2 2009 - The League One season was one of my favourites as I got to go to so many stadiums I hadn't been to before, but was also the last season that I did maybe 80 per cent of games. I was working for Radio Leicester at the time and convinced them to let me host my show from Southend Beach in the morning, then watched the game sat in the press box. Was told not to celebrate if we scored, massively celebrated, saw us clinch the league one title, hugged Pearson on the pitch afterwards 😂 I didn't miss many games from around 94 to 2009, but then work got in the way and now I'm lucky if I get to three games a year. Genuinely jealous of everyone who got to see the rise and rise of the club in person, how lucky we all are to have seen these days.
