For £30m surely we could get someone like Madueke who's an out and out RW? Regardless, this guy is quick and direct so would immediately offer something different and give another dimension to our attack so wouldn't be the worst signing in the world. Also he actually seems to be very good in the air for someone not particularly tall so we might finally have someone who can win a header in the final third!!

Summer 2022 priorities (and realistic options)
foxesfan98 replied to Allenho11's topic in Transfer Talk
Wonder if Liverpool would let Joe Gomez go this summer? Seems to be 4th choice for them now and is probably good enough to start for most teams in the league. He's also got experience winning trophies so would have the mentality Brendan would be looking for. Him and Fofana as a partnership could be tasty. -
This man joined the club to build a 'long-term project' yet after only 3 years he wants a massive overhaul of the squad? What does that say about how he's coaching these players and the recruitment that he's overseen? Seems to me that he's failed with what he tried to achieve and is being carried by the individual quality of the players that he's questioning.

Brendan's comments about some players achieving all they can at the club are the most baffling I've heard from a manager as a Leicester fan. Most of our squad are young players who have already shown that they can step up to this level. He's essentially just told them they're shit and doesn't want them anymore so why should they play for him for the rest of the season? They may not have the strongest mentality but how can he have the audacity to question them when he's making strange tactical decisions and subs that make no sense. Second half today we needed to get bodies forward and pin them back (which we have the players to do) and he switches to 5 at the back with Lookman at wing back and Thomas in a back 3. I spent the first ten minutes of the half trying to figure it out and it looked like the players were doing the same. How can they improve or be motivated if they're constantly being played out of position and being moved around? We have an excellent squad if it's used properly but just feels like Rodgers is getting desperate and changing things for the sake of it and has been for 2 years.

With all the talk of getting a new right winger in, I think we should be looking to sign two wingers this summer. One proper quality player to slot in on the right as first choice and a youngish winger for either side who wouldn't expect to walk into the team and who can change the game off the bench. The injury to Barnes this season highlighted how shocking our depth is in these areas, with our only other options being Albrighton, Under and Perez, which forced us to change formation and personally I think we play much better football in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1. For a starting right winger, Domenico Berardi, Brais Mendez, Leon Bailey, Moussa Diaby or Emi Buendia would walk into our team and add the creativity and attacking threat Rodgers has admitted we need. Berardi's numbers this season have been ridiculous (17 goals, 7 assists in 30 games) at a team who haven't even qualified for Europe, so he would be the dream but you'd have to assume a top team would come in for him. The options I like for the slightly less proven deputies are Musa Barrow (Bologna, loan from Atalanta) and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia (Rubin Kazan). Both predominately play on the left and would be a good alternative to Barnes in case of another injury. I know we'll probably sign Andros Townsend on a free but it's nice to dream.

If we can offload Silva, Slimani, Diabate, James, Amartey, Kapustka and Ghezzal this summer, as well as Mendy and King being released, we could save a considerable amount on wages, which could be used for 2/3 big signings. Obviously transfer fees will have to take a hit due to the current climate, but we're past trying to recoup the money we spent on these guys anyway. Don't think there's any need to sell from the main group of players we've used this season. We'll need everyone for the hectic schedule next season. Think Luke Thomas would benefit massively from a loan. He's looked really promising since coming in and would be ready for a full season in the Championship to refine his game. Same goes for Dewsbury-Hall and Iversen.

Ake would be a brilliant signing, but I think Man City will pick him up this summer unfortunately. Really like the look of Wesley Fofana at Saint Etienne for centre back. He reads the game well, is good in the air and a solid tackler. Puel rates him very highly and despite all his flaws, Claude is excellent at identifying good young players and developing them (Chilwell, Barnes, Maddison, Choudhury). Fofana is only 19 as well, so wouldn't expect to walk straight into the team and can be moulded as a long term replacement for Evans.

To me it sounds like some players that know they don't fit the new system and will be dropped next season are using their dressing room influence to kick up a fuss.

The fans always make noise when the team puts together a good attacking move or sustain pressure on the opposition's defence. Unfortunately, this only happens about once a game now. Strange atmosphere at the end of games recently, as the performances don't warrant boos but they aren't applause-worthy either.

Bournemouth (H) - What would your starting XI be?
foxesfan98 replied to AKCJ's topic in Leicester City Forum
Schmeichel Dragovic Morgan Maguire Albrighton Ndidi Silva Chilwell Mahrez Diabate Vardy 3 at the back looked promising in the 1st half at Man City so would like to see us use it against a lesser team. Albrighton showed against Stoke that his overlapping runs on the right can be a threat and giving a tricky front 3 freedom in attack will keep Bournemouth's defence guessing. -
Cedric from Southampton would be a great signing I reckon. He's a proven Premier League defender and has a great cross on him. Would be cheaper than Trippier as well.

I don't think Matty James is getting enough credit for his performance yesterday. The guy has been out for ages and hasn't started under Puel before, but slotted in like he'd been playing every week. Was really composed on the ball and showed himself to be an adequate stand-in for Iborra.- 308 replies

Where's this massive over reaction about Maguire come from? He's easily been one of our best players this season. He struggles against some of the best forwards in the league and suddenly he's crap? People need to learn the difference between a bad player and a bad performance. -

The last time I was this excited about a new signing was for Iheanacho. Fair to say I've learnt my lesson. -
Player of the First Half of the Season

Except when he was rested against Southampton and we banged in 4 goals away from home with arguably our best performance of the season.
