Development/Youth Squads 2023/2024 Thread - U18/U21

Get that but the lack of coverage for the U21 seems to reveal a general lack of interest from the club in publicising the academy and its achievements Sunderland have a dedicated x account for their academy I’m guessing others do too If you were doing well for the U21 or an 18 y o in the U18, would you feel a bit undervalued by that in this age of SM ?? -

Maybe they want to protect Danny ward’s reputation in case he plays and concedes three ….. Your point sums it up They can point to child care stuff but the truth is either they don’t want to spend money on it or they CBA and if the club CBA about themselves then they can’t complain when the fans appear that way …… -

They don’t make a song and dance about the U23 either. It’s clearly a mindset within the club - you can’t complain that the fans aren’t fully invested in supporting the club and not do this imo -

Not expecting loads of photos and information but a tweet or small entry on the website noting the game and result ??. i mean the kids themselves would surely appreciate that ?? -

Presumably Ipswich won ?? -
I think it reflects standards if it’s my team then I expect players to reach certain standards both on and off the pitch. By that I mean not breaking the law. It’s not a high bar. I’m not asking for them to be mother Theresa …… if one of them breaks the law then they can expect to pay a price in the courts and I just think that them being captain of the side is a sad reflection on my club. Maybe I’m an old fart. Let’s see where we are in two months time. If we fail to win the league then people will expect answers. Hamza fully deserves his place on the pitch.
-
Point taken but then why shouldn’t people see that there is a cost in breaking the law beyond financial I’m disgusted - it’s drink driving - it kills people!
-
Vardy, Ricky, albrighton followed by anyone who is local (apart from kdh it seems which must mean he doesn’t want it )
-
Foxes hub discussed it on the restart (commentator and Elliot) and said whether it was or not, it was very tight. If it’s marginal offside then we shouldn’t have any issues with it
-
There are two things being discussed a) should hamza have played b) should hamza have been captain anyone having a problem with ‘a’ is a bit strange given our fitness issues and his previous couple of performances
-
So assuming that we won’t change the way we play (we could adjust to take account that we don’t have two eights), who is there in the U23’s that can play the role ?? We can’t limp along with kdh and younus for 90 mins twice a week ….. (younus isn’t an eight btw)
-
No issue with him playing it’s the captain part being captain isn’t about shouting at people there’s more to it - all the stuff around it - photos pre match etc - it matters. At least it should matter obvs it doesn’t to the coach that’s his call he’s in charge
-
I did if I’d realised then I’d have said so in the match thread I missed the pre game stuff so had no idea I’m sure there must have been some posters on FT with a moral compass ??

Are we bottlers and do we have a weak mentality?

The fish rots from the head where you decide the head is is relevant …… -
No issue with him playing the inverted right back role huge issue with him being selected as our captain just days after being convicted big questions about enzo’s judgement imo press should have brought it up

Saw the video and was so confused. From what I’d read I thought liverpool went straight up the other end, won a corner and scored pathetic from forest -

Why do we have to find out from a Spanish fella on x what the results were? surely the club should be doing this ???? -
Assume they thought was offside. We were high for the free kick so if no one dropped then defence would have hoped for a flag
-
Unless they go down to ten then we don’t go two up top it’s not wot we do ! missing vestergaard starting the movements whilst the lines are stretched with quick balls into feet

They are on a roll feels like a tight game to me doubt we’ll go hell for leather with an eye on Tuesday without janiick we may struggle with the sharp passes into midfield which our system relies upon those expecting a big win are relying on an early breakthrough and them losing control of their game plan because of that -
I thought you weren’t supposed to pack your bags at the checkout ? Signs say to refill trolley and pack at the area beyond where there are shelves to help you and can do at a sedate pace
