  1. Love him already. Can't wait to see him fight for a place in the team next season ?
  2. Andy Goldstein (still uses 'MBE' in his Twitter handle after beating Steve Davis at pool once - and therefore taking all his titles, apparently) and Jason Cundy. Absolute pair of reprobates.
  3. I just completed this quiz. My Score 10/100 My Time 131 seconds
  4. Definitely needs a run-out against Leeds in the form he's in. He deserves a crack. I agree that blooding him in PL games is a risk with the way we're playing. But if he has a blinder against Leeds then he might give Shakey a headache and he could be the shot in the arm we need. Could be.
  5. Bit miffed we can't do elaborate pitch designs anymore. That looks quality.
  6. Have to agree with most of this, especially Hamza. He looked solid without standing out, although there was one dodgy moment where he almost got caught dwelling on the ball as the last man. The impression I got from Thomas is that he isn't a winger. For me he looked far more influential after we went 4-3-3 and he was on the left of the midfield 3. His set pieces were poor by and large though, which is disappointing as he's clearly a designated set-piece taker. Gordon did OK I thought and won a surprising amount of headers. But it did sort of seem like we were forcing the players into a 4-4-2. Granted we scored all 3 goals playing that formation but for the first 20 minutes or so West Ham's kids were keeping the ball very well and frustrating us. It was nice to see Iborra and Huth get 90 minutes but really frustrating to see Kelechi hobbling off. I think you might be right in suggesting he just has some time off instead of continually aggravating the injury. I thought Wood did very well actually. He got forward well and he recovered well when we lost possession. Decent delivery as well with the odd one being a bit too easy for the keeper.
  7. Good tekkers from Kelechi. 4-0 though! I remember when Nigeria and Cameroon were the powerhouses of African football. It would've been nice to see Maguire start for England but seeing as he's been carrying a knock since the Sheffield Utd game, I'm quite pleased he's not in the matchday squad for this one. Hope Vardy gets on and bags a goal or two.
  8. Our owners made the mistake of letting Pearson go - the first time that is. Yes Mandaric was technically still chairman. They brought in Paulo Sousa who wanted to completely change the identity of the team and we struggled massively. Then they went balls out, brought Sven in - and a ton of new, relatively big name players (Yakubu, Gelson Fernandes, Darius Vassell, Michael Johnson, etc.) - and that didn't work out too well either. Our owners have learnt a lot from being owners of a football club and they're bringing that knowledge with them to Leuven. The key is stability when new owners come in. Fans might want tons of new signings and money pumping into the club straight away but that could result in catastrophic failure and a lot of money spent in the process. It sounds like the owners will consolidate the club's position this season and in a year's time you might start to see a bit more of an ambitious approach. It took 6 years of their ownership for us to go from around mid-table in the second tier to top tier champions, which might sound like a long time but is a meteoric rise in reality. Leuven will be fine. And if you win the top division in 6 years time ahead of the likes of Club Brugge and Standard Liege, you'll be as deliriously happy with them as we are.
  9. West Ham signing Hart and Arnautovic is making me chuckle. Chicharito less so. Such a quality performer. Still, even he might not be able to save them.
  10. I don't think the PL and Championship academy experiment worked last season and I can't see it working this. Let L1 and L2 have their trophy. I work in Cov and know people who went to the final last season and absolutely loved it. Having the Prem teams in there devalues the competition and I don't think it actually benefits the academies anyway.
  11. Butland MOTM. Could've been (even more) embarassing for us if not for 2 outstanding Butland saves. This second half has been atrocious.
  12. What a season he's having! Shakey said if they're good enough then they're fast-tracked. It'll be interesting to see if what Barnes does pre-season will lead to a place in the first team squad next season or if he's off on loan to the Championship instead.
  13. I just made the short journey from junction 21 to junction 22 on the M1 and saw LOADS of cars with Huddersfield flags on their windows. It was brilliant to see. It reminded me of the unbridled joy of our own playoff victories, League Cup wins, and of course winning League One, the Championship and the Premier League. It's great to have Huddersfield in the Premier League. Having grown up in the 80s and 90s, they're one of those sides who, when I found out they used to be rather good, I thought 'what, really?' It's quite a romantic story really. Best of luck to them.
  14. People on Twitter reacting like Carragher's comedy is reminiscent of Peter Kay or something. I find it boring, old news and completely unprovoked (how long ago was their 'spat'?). Hardly next-level bantz was it.
  15. Really like Son as a player so great to hear Barnes compared to him as a similar type of player. I know it's only half a season but he seema like a really encouraging prospect.
  16. We'll just have to win it for him next season then
  17. Absolutely. Keep him developing at a league club where he'll get a good amount of game time. Barnsley seem to have looked after James and Elder well this season. It looks like they'll be staying in the Championship as well. I wonder if there will be a place in their team for a player like Barnes next season. At the top end of that division (which is fairly likely), I wonder if he would get minutes at a team like Villa next season?
  18. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.express.co.uk/sport/football/788889/Craig-Shakespeare-Leicester-Yohan-Benalouane-Premier-League-news/amp Apologies if this has been discussed elsewhere. Shakey says Benny has saved his Leicester career and adjusted to the Premier League by being less aggressive! 2 clean sheets in 4 days says to me he's definitely settled down really well now.
  19. This is going to be a HUGE preseason for him. If he can keep injury-free, stay involved with the first team during the whole pre-season, get plenty of minutes under his belt and arrive at the first game of the season fully match-fit, he'll be a contender and a much needed quality alternative to Drinkwater. We may buy as well - Adrien Silva maybe - but having James fully fit and injury free will be a boost. He has the ability.
  20. I really hope he stays beyond the summer. If we get this summer right in terms of transfers in and out and the preseason preparation, we could have another special season on our hands next year. Gatecrash the top 4 again perhaps? We can but dream.
  21. Sh!tting hell!
  22. Banks vs. Pelé though Of the keepers I've seen, Kasper has to be the best. I'm old enough to remember Shilton still getting gigs for other clubs as he aged but not old enough to remember him for us. I remember loving Gavin Ward, Kevin Poole, Tim Flowers, Kasey Keller and Ian Walker. I think we've had some very decent keepers since 92 or 93 when I started becoming aware of Leicester as a 6-7 year old. But Kasper tops the lot for me.
  23. Jesus. I'm so sick of reading/hearing these opinions. If it was their club dropping like a stone towards the Championship during their Premier League title defence, I don't think their stout defence of 'loyalty' in football would last as long. These people just skim the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Ranieri's sacking. Delve a little deeper and it becomes understandable, even necessary. Sure, it's an extreme situation because of the title miracle. I was one of those calling for Ranieri to get the whole season regardless. But I understand it now, given the information that has come out since.
  24. Exactly. More than 1 way to play the game. It's not like Vardy is picking the ball up, putting it under his shirt and windmilling at defenders.
