  1. Not much mention of this so far, even on the BBC website. Local girl I see. Blue Peter, such a big part of many child's life growing up.
  2. Send an SAE* I was given some old record singles the other day and one of the sleeves had a note stamped on the sleeve asking for you to send a SAE to the address below, for a complete list of their stock. * Stamped addressed envelope.
  3. Holiday Question: We fancied a short break over in Norfolk, so Googled the dates and area we wanted and all the sites came up such as Booking.com. We found something on a site called Vrbo.com and booked a cottage. First time really using one of these sites but all went straight forward and we received a confirmation. The confirmation said the owner would be in touch with further details, such as access and so on. This was 4 days ago now. Although we dont travel there until 20th, should I have expected some contact by now, other than just automated ones?
  4. I think there will be some discussions behind close doors along the lines of; we'll get a max 6 points deducted if we agree not to appeal, thereby saving the league further embarrassment.
  5. I know Russia doesn't do open, free and fair elections, so this is probably a non starter, but if Zelensky offered an election in the captured parts of Ukraine, so the folk could decide if they wished to fall under Russian rule, it could be a compromise? This vote could be monitored by the UN as well as Russian and Ukrainian officials to assure fairness. Putin reckons they are ethnic Russians in those lands he occupies and that was one of his reasons to invade, (I know I know) so let the people decide if they agree with him. Reading that back before posting, I can see that it almost certainly wouldn't happen. However, peace won't happen either if all sides dig their heels in
  6. It'll give folk an extra 15 mins to express alarm at the starting 11. In fact, to save people typing often used comments, just copy and paste these useful phrases below. WTF. FFS. Marti out. Soumare, Skipp really! Where's the yoof? Look at that bench. Faes, Vesty really! Is Top there? I see the Happy Clappers are out in force. Vardy not even on the bench. Is he injured? And, if we go a goal up and/or win HMS Piss the league.
  7. Are you their publicity agent? Looks like a few on here are now interested after your post.
  8. I see your point but I also feel you are showing respect by being competitive throughout. If we should be winning and winning well however, I don't think we should hear any Olay, Olays from the crowd. That would be out of order. Anyway, this is all academic, Sheff W will be up for it and do their fans proud I reckon.
  9. Today is the 8th and Skynet becomes self aware on the 29th - not long now.
  10. Indeed. Our first house, bought in 1980, would now cost £56 000 if average inflation over the intervening years was the only price pressure. Instead, they are now selling at over £200 000
  11. Could solve a lot of problems. As an aside however, re the text I've highlighted: If you substituted the word elderly for immigrants, blacks, Asians, refugees, gypsies, women and so on - even in jest, the s4it would really hit the fan. For some reason, older folk are fair game.
  12. Sir Geoff Hurst was asked how he thought the England team of '66 would have fared against the Lionesses. "I think we'd have won 1-0" he replied. "Only 1-0?" questioned the reporter. "Yes," said Geoff. "There's only me left now and I'm 83."
  13. Interesting. 4 hours since your post and no one has asked for any context. Speaks volumes.
  14. So many seem to think this thread is doomed, imminently. Can't see why myself, unless someone mouths-off of course.
  15. Not much of an explosion when it fails to lift off. Had they actually put any more fuel in it?
  16. Bins on pavements are unsightly and an undoubted obstacle, especially on narrow pavements. However I, and I'm sure others too, have not had their bin emptied because it was not correctly 'placed' out on the street. My elderly Father in Law's was quite literally a couple of feet back from the pavement and was not emptied. PS. Not everyone have driveways btw.
  17. It won't let me watch it. Apparently, it's that sexy, I need to verify my age.
  18. I have never needed to turn away or look away from the news before, even if they warn you of distressing content. Tonight though, I couldn't bare it. Children shot dead by the IDF in Gaza. Just too upsetting. What the bloody hell are they thinking?
  19. No, no, no! Soumare. An out of possession principle is NOT to walk slowly back to your position.
  20. We've missed an opportunity there. We should have offered; Buy one, Get one free.
  21. Where's your location when you try the retune? It could be you are in a poor reception area when you carry it out. A radio of mine would skip a couple of stations on auto retune, though I could get those stations if manually tuning. That was on FM. I don't think that should be quite the same with DAB, in fact, it could be the opposite. My DAB radio will save stations on an auto retune but won't actually play them because the signal is too weak!
  22. It's seems to be the news channel of choice for my brother but not for me, at all. Not necessarily because of any political leaning it may have but that it seems a bit 'tabloidy' to me in presentation.
  23. Elizabeth Rizzini. BBC weather girl. Everytime she does the forecast, I realise I haven't listened to a single word she has said.
  24. I wonder if she does that weird run-up before leaping into bed?
