  1. If you stay with a provider, any provider, and just automatically renew, then they rip you off big time. You would think loyalty would get rewarded but not with ISPs. I'm with Virgin, have been for years. However, at the end of each contract, I've said I'm leaving and, so far, always been offered a better deal. In fact, my bill shows the discounts I'm getting are halving their 'full' price. Regarding your folks and the difficulty you are having contacting $ky, several ISP's will now handle the move from your existing provider on your behalf. Just check online those the do this and let them sort it. Here's an example. Bare in mind though, if your parents have just renewed with $ky, there can/will be an early leaving fee. That said, some providers will also cover any leaving fee - upto a point.
  2. Ned Ludd, from whom the Luddites derived their name, was an Anstey lad.
  3. A guest on Newsnight has just said what I and many others are saying, the American people voted for Trump, with most knowing full well what they were getting and the probable consequences.
  4. I've just used the bank of England inflation calculator to work out todays equivalent cost of our first house. It cost £14 000 in 1980. Todays value, according to the calculator, is just under £60 000. However, those houses are currently going for over £230 000!
  5. Vue cinema start times. If a film is advertised to start at say, 14:30, when does the actual film itself start? I'm assuming that first you get 10 or 15 mins of other stuff and what you actually wish to see begins around 14:45. Is that fair to say? I'm asking because I cannot arrive to see a film until 10 mins after the advertised start time.
  6. Think he got himself in a bit of a pickle there.
  7. I see what you did there.
  8. We've shown more fight in the last 10 minutes than the rest of the season put together.
  9. Time for Top to invite all his family for a walk around the pitch again at the KP
  10. Do Brighton have an 'ever obliging' thread?
  11. Dry verge installation. Lots of vids on YouTube, like this one.
  12. I hope the players continue to have the pre kick-off huddle. Imagine how much more worse things would be if they didn't share that brief, inspirational chat with one another. Small mercies......
  13. To think, Monga was still in nappies the last time we scored.
  14. My mistake Mr. Rudkin. Apologies
  15. Strewth! That's over 12 hours!
  16. I placed a modest £5k into an investment portfolio 2 years ago. At it's peak, it reached £5600 Currently, it's standing at £5200. Most of that drop has happened in the last week. The company managing my portfolio also take a fee, therefore reducing that amount slightly more. If I had placed it in an ISA that my local building society was offering at the time, I would now have £5400 and no fees. I'm aware of the ups and downs of markets but, perhaps, my figures above may inform other 'novices' like me, and are thinking of dabbling in stock markets, of the actual affect on your money.
  17. You would think (hope) so. With our DoF sorting contracts though, who knows.
  18. I feel nothing at all when the opposition score.
  19. BR tried something similar.
  20. I need a 'procedure' carried out in hospital. Just got back from a pre admission appt' and the staff were all fantastic. Absolutely first rate. I was curious about one thing though. The nurse said I was lucky to have the surgeon I have and lucky where the op was going to be carried out. It does beg the question though. If I wasn't 'lucky', would they have said, 'Bad luck Mr. FFF, you have a rather poor surgeon and you'll be seen in a rather poor hospital. Good luck - you'll need it.'
  21. Just becoming visible over Leicester. Mind your eyes if you take a look.
  22. I saw your post PF, it stopped me in my tracks. What you achieved in your life and the tremendous service you have given to the community since, is quite inspirational really, especially after suffering that as a child. Your profession, adopting a child, voluntary work, all brilliant.
  23. Just a bit of fun, or perhaps a chance to get something off your chest. Mine would be to my late father in law. Did you know that the 'free' grant you finally succeeding in getting, to have foam insulation installed in your roof, made the house unsellable? Your 'Owt fer nowt' philosophy ended up costing thousands.
