  1. William Shakespeare could not have put it better.
  2. Shouldn't be a valid reason. Unfortunately, bugs, germs, viruses, call them what you will, don't give a damn what culture/mindset you are/have. This is especially important in a clinical environment where, by definition, there are vulnerable people.
  3. This will, inevitably, sound condescending, though it isn't intended as such. Couldn't you and your party try to go without a cigarette for a couple of hours? That said; the way we playing, I might take up smoking and drinking for that matter
  4. Face masks should again, be worn in Leicester hospitals. A staff member was telling Mrs. FFF yesterday, how an entire visiting family (whatever happened to just 2 visitors only btw?) refused to do so. In such circumstances, I think they should be made to leave, no exceptions, leave. I realise that a singular visitor could, conceivably, be exempt but not several members. What made this occasion worse, was one of this 'group' was coughing and sputtering during the visit. Selfish sods.
  5. Sad news indeed. I wonder what will become of the wonderful looking building? If not retail, I wonder if it could be converted into flats for individuals/small families. Or even a shop below and flats above? Unless Sir Pete sees another opportunity for yet more student accomodation that is.
  6. Saw a car towing a trailer that was over full of branches and what not earlier today. The straps he had used to 'secure' this load, had broken free and were dangling behind the tailer. Consequently, this not insignificant horticultural load, was being deposited on the road as a sped past. I retrieved some from the road but how much more was lost along the way, I can only guess. I'm sure he would have been had by the local constabulary for having an insecure and dangerous load if spotted.
  7. Does the fact that FT still has the Christmas decoration around the fox logo (at the time of posting), mean we're going to get some bad luck this year? That's all we need.
  8. That sounds great. I'll DM you.
  9. I was chatting to a guy who lived in LFE. After they built a handfull of houses nearby, he started to get pools of water gathering beneath his floor boards downstairs and, not surprisingly, damp. The cause was traced to a drainage pipe that the builders of those new houses had decided to block off! I think with the current governments relaxation of the planning laws, incidents like this will become far more frequent.
  10. Indeed. A new estate was built opposite my Dad's some years ago. In the 40 odd years he had lived there, no problems. After the new houses went up, heavy rain caused his back garden to flood.
  11. Thanks for the replies. I called the club. No paper tickets at all. They'll be three of us now, grandad, dad and grandson Can all 3 electronic tickets be on one phone, via a QR code or something?
  12. I'm taking my grandson to his first ever match for this. Is there anyway to buy a good old fashioned paper match ticket? Something he could have as a keepsake.
  13. Interesting. The motorists giving the cyclist plenty of room. Also, it appears none of the cars have their lights on, given the conditions. Neither would be the case today.
  14. Spurs to carry on with their recent poor form, until they play us.....
  15. Looks good - thanks. As far as I can see, there is no need to cancel either, to prevent assumed, ongoing subscription afterwards. No payment details are asked for when registering. Edit: Despite the website claiming its an access all areas weekend, quite a few things still have to be paid for. Still lots of free stuff though.
  16. Is it noted anywhere if Dick Rowe was asked for his thoughts on rejecting the Beatles, after they became a global phenomenon? In his defence I guess, Decca did sign the Rolling Stones, so they quickly learned a lesson.
  17. Bizarre question here. You've just got out the shower or bath and there are no towels. As an alternative, you decide to dry yourself using toilet paper! How many rolls do you think it would take? I don't know the answer and perhaps this is a question more suited to the Dull men's forum? Just wondered, that's all.
  18. As this is a TV related thread, I believe a great deal of 'box ticking' and quotas (not phrases I've created) does occur in TV land. I'll preface the rest of my reply firstly though, by stating I have absolutely no problems at all with mixed race and same sex relationships. Indeed, I have close friends and dear colleagues who are in such relationships. The absolute main thing is that they are devoted and loving to each other. I wasn't 'Swinging and missing' at anything, other than the portrayal on TV and films. It is an absolute fact that, at this moment in time, a vast, vast majority of relationships in life, are not mixed race and are also hetrosexual. But in TV land, this is flipped on its head for some reason. Why? With regard to the characters in Outnumbered having such relationships in the real world, then that is fine of course, but why was it felt that story needed to be included? As @ozleicestermentioned previously, they seemed to try and cram too much into a short show.
  19. Also some 'box ticking' The eldest lad in a mixed race relationship and the daughter in a same sex relationship. I think the original series merits were because of the script/improv and, of course, the quite extraordinary performances, considering their age, of the children.
  20. Also, those that know the person serving and start a conversation after they've paid, along the lines of, 'How's your Sarah?' It was my first public outing as a grumpy old man when this happened to me whilst waiting to be served, as I made my displeasure quite clear.
  21. Built in obsolescence and a right to repair. Legislation both here and Europe is attempting to reduce the millions of tons of 'E waste' that goes to land fill each year - allegedly. We've a long way to go as I've found out again today. The bearings have gone in our washing machine. Replacing them isn't for the faint hearted I admit, but it is DIYable and with a wealth of 'how tos' available on YouTube, worth a go. However....... An increasing amount of manufacturers, including makers of higher end machines, make repairing them very difficult and, increasingly, not economically viable. This washing machine for example, needs a £20 part to restore/repair it but they make removing the old bearing extremely problematic by having so called 'sealed drums'. The two halves are now plastic welded together whereas they used to be screwed together with a seal seated between them. Accessing the bearing is therefore rendered all but impossible. A replacement drum is available but would cost many times more. There is also increasing evidence that modern barings are smaller, flimsy and fail for more quickly than before Manufacturers are being naughty here. Yes, they would argue it is repairable but it is both at a far greater cost and frequency.
  22. I see Chris Sutton is on the wind up again. On his prediction for tomorrow he states: It seems like they (Leicester fans) felt they would be comfortable after getting promotion but that is never the case - whoever you are, you have got to graft and you have got to earn your place in the Premier League. Maybe their supporters are starting to realise that now? I don't know a single fan that didn't know that this season would be a struggle.
  23. What happened, did someone drop a microphone on his toe?
  24. Nah. 4-0 HT 6-1 FT
