Mob mentality Mob mentality -- also called herd or hive mentality -- is the inclination that some humans have to be part of a large group, often neglecting their individual feelings in the process, and adopting the behaviors and actions of the people around them.

I think you'll find that intelligence would have been gathered by the police from sources such as police 'spotters', CCTV, social media ect. Then, instead of going into rioting groups to make arrests, they'll be knocking on doors over the next few days. If charged, I hope they throw the bloody book at those found guilty of any crimes.

Perhaps they should bring back the reading of the riot act in these situations? Disperse or else*. *Respecting folks human rights of course.

I do hope it isn't largely a group of a certain ethnicity or culture that is taking part in these reported riots in Leeds. If it is, there's yet more evidence for those who will dispute the benefits and integration of our harmonious, multi-cultural society.

As some others have suggested, contact your creditors. In my role with the City Council, I sometimes supported folk with debts to contact those to whom they were debted to. They often asked me to carry out the call and once they gave the necessary authorisation, I would. In every instance but one*, the company/organisation concerned would be incredibly understanding, supporting and offer solutions. Some of the repayment plans they offered were, in my opinion, incredibly generous. *Post Office. Ironic, given recent revelations.

And to rub salt in it; his compensation was to be deducted 'board and lodging' for his time in prison. Unbelievable.

I grew up close the the old AEI/Marconi works on Scudamore Road and we used to play in one of those 'bomb holes' as we called it. It is now filled in. However, yesterday I took 2 of my grandsons on to the site of the old Western Golf course and we looked at one of the ponds, caused, I believe, by a bomb on the same raid. There are 2 or 3 other surviving ones there too. I assume the raid was an attempt to cause damage to the Leicester Municipal Aerodrome and the Reid and Sigrist facility. Interestingly, they missed, instead causing the aforementioned craters in the immediate surrounding area. I wish I had quizzed an elderly lady and her daughter who lived close to where I grew up about that night. Their farmhouse, as it was then, was but yards from the site of one of the craters. I bet their house took a good rumble?

It seems absolutely unbelievable that sometime back in the 60s, a planning committee saw the plans/ drawings and for the area around the clock tower and the Haymarket in particular and thought, 'Yeah. That's great. We'll go for that'.

I was reading an aircraft enthusiasts forum some time ago when it was announced that BA (I think it was) were retiring their 747 fleet. One poster who said he was a pilot with BA, said it wasn't before time - claiming many were quite literally held together with gaffer tape.

When Suella Braverman said that multiculturalism has failed, Ashworth appeared on BBC's Question time that week arguing that Leicester was a shining example of that NOT being the case. However, every example he gave merely demonstrated that yes, all groups are represented here BUT all the examples of festivals ect that are celebrated here are very largely, only celebrated by fully signed-up members of that group - there is no integration. And now, we've had Muslims and Hindus at each others throats in Leicester over issues in India and a sitting Labour MP ousted over Gaza. I've even read Ashworth was chased from a street by a group of Muslims whilst canvassing Their loyalties and hearts do not reside in Leicester or the UK I'm afraid. I worry this divide will grow.

I think the turnout amongst Muslim voters especially, would have been far, far higher. Starmer was right; he was worried complacency amongst Labour voters due to the polls showing a massive Labour lead, could affect things. It has in Leicester South.

Perhaps not the time or place to mention this, but does the average member of the public discuss politics much, even at this moment in time? I was out playing tennis on Tuesday, during a chat afterwards the election wasn't mentioned once. Yesterday I was with 10 other folks aged between 50 and 70 for a couple of hours. Again, politics was not mentioned once.

I was listening to a Euro commentary the other day, the one where they had to come off for a while due to lightning. The female commentator was speaking like an over excited 12 year old and just wouldn't shut up. It was like she hadn't seen heavy rain before. Her voice was really grating and I felt my head would explode if I didn't switch it off - which I did.
