  1. I did just that, this week. Always liked a baked spud, whether done in a microwave and/or conventional oven. However, the spud I have just retrived from tonights ashes was really tasty. I didn't even have a filling let alone butter with it. Just the tator on its own. I'll be doing it again.
  2. A friend of ours has been modernising her 1930s house. One thing she tackled was heating efficiency. She had new windows, heating and insulation. Because of the age of the house and her circumstances, she was able to get a government green homes grant which payed for roof insulation including Spray Foam Insulation. She is now trying to sell the house. Potential buyers are being refused a mortgage because of the spray foam! Basically, the government were offering grants to home owners that encouraged them to have work carried out that then makes the home unsaleable Apparently, the foam can cause moisture to become trapped and rot the roof timbers. She's been quoted over three grand to get it removed.

  4. Have you tried https://community.virginmedia.com/ I have made more progress raising an issue on there, twice for myself and once for someone I was supporting.
  5. There was a quote from a prominent Israeli some time ago who said in the past, anyone who hated the jews was antisemitic. He added that now, any one the jews hate is antisemitic.

  7. https://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/beatles-now-then-number-1-song-record/ I think they've passed the audition.
  8. Toast done over a small fire in the garden, followed by toasted marshmallows. On reflection, I wish I had wrapped a couple of spuds in foil and let them bake in the ashes to eat a little later.
  9. I was thinking about ads the other day. I can honestly say I take no notice of them. Ad breaks on TV can be that long these days, you can not only make a cuppa but probably nip to your local shop. Ads on the radio do not register with me at all. Ads online are ignored/skipped on YouTube. Throw into the mix that some ads I do see, are so abstract I haven't got a clue what they're for.
  10. During a boating holiday on the Thames, me and some mates went into a chippy in, I think, Henley. The looks we got when we asked for a black pudding.
  11. I recently retired and took the largest amount I could as a tax free lump sum from my pension. Perfectly happy with my choice in doing that. I sought independent financial advice on what to do with my lump sum. I was advised to look at an investment portfolio which would be managed on my behalf - for a fee. The advice demonstrated that on past performance the return, even after fees, would still be better than placing it in a building society bond or ISA. I wasn't convinced but intrigued. I therefore decided to go down the traditional route for me, and put most into various building society accounts. I did, however, follow the investment advice for 20% of my lump sum. Well, I'm glad I restricted my portfolio investment. It is, after 6 months, showing a .3% loss. I know the advice is that it is a longer term investment but if it merely breaks even after a year, let alone goes down, my dabbling in the markets will quickly come to an end.
  12. A few weeks after R Leicester began, I had a request for my 10th birthday read out on air. They refused to play the record I had chosen though, saying it wasn't suitable for a childrens show. The record was Fire, by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown.

  14. Yeah, agree. I spotted these in Costco and reckon they would last us certainty one evening, possibly two at the most.
  15. Those with log burners, how long would a box of logs like this last you? Curious, as these would cost you nearly a tenner/ box.
  16. If he starts against Boro, you wonder if there is something in the loan agreement about him starting games
  17. Please tell me that wasn't you when I clicked on that link.
  18. We have looked a bit 'leggy' too in the last couple of matches.
  19. Ahh come on, the poor woman was misquoted. She actually said that she spotted 'a mass' of paragliders over our village. Local journo misheard her and saw an opportunity for national coverage.
  20. I wonder how many opposition fans said that about us last year? Rodgers will be gone by then, they'll have a new manager bounce. We just kept on giving......
  21. Shurrup! That guarantees the 'Ever obliging.....' thread will make its first appearance in ages.
