  1. Thanks, I'm aware of what underperformance means. You were responding to me regarding it being "the most embarrassing relegation in history". I doubt any neutral would, when asked, pick our relegation as being that. It was very disappointing, a rapid fall from grace but it was not anything approaching that description.
  2. Erm we did it... that was the start of the sub thread. You have to take a historical look at things when it takes seven years to fit the criteria of the question. But if you're absolutely determined to run the club down, it was the worst moment in sporting history and we will be ridiculed around the world for eternity because of it.
  3. It was a massive under performance and fall from grace but nowhere near the "most embarrassing relegation in the league's history" . Seriously does anyone think Derby fans saw us get relegated and thought "blimey, I'm glad that monkey's off our back"?
  4. Since the war: Villa 6 seasons after winning the league and 5 after winning the European Cup. Derby 5 seasons Ipswich 2 seasons Liverpool 7 seasons Wolves 6 seasons Man Utd 7 seasons There's been another 4 within a decade and another 9 within 15 years. I dare say they'll be some in other big leagues, Bordeaux, Montpellier, Monaco, Borrusia Munchengladbach, Coruna and Napoli spring to mind but I can't remember the details.
  5. Blackburn 5 seasons after winning Prem.
  6. Ridiculous hyperbole, you think getting relegated by 2 points on the last day is more embarrassing than Derby's 11 points in 2007/08?
  7. That would make him the 3rd most expensive GK ever 😂
  8. And Allan Evans
  9. We only used to have a manager, coach and physio. It's a wonder there's any room left in the stadium for fans.
  10. That bloke is shit hot every pre-season, banging them in all over the place and the season starts and nothing.
  11. I never noticed we did it too, we at least had the decency to exclude the goalkeepers from that rule though.
  12. There were 2 groups of death in that 2nd round us, Germany and Spain in 1 and Italy, Argentina and Brazil in another. If it hadn't been for the "disgrace of Gijon" there's a very good chance we'd have won it, for me it's the 1 that got away in my lifetime. Packet of fruit pastilles for anyone who can name Argentina's no. 1 in 1982, a clue being he was very famous for playing in England.
  13. The goalkeeper in that Brazil side made Ward look like Dino Zoff.
  14. I agree, he is a confidence player though and, as in any walk of life, some people get the best out of someone where other (equally capable) managers couldn't.
  15. A new manager can do surprising things with fringe players, Vesty last season taught us not to rule anything or anyone out.
  16. There's a chance for me yet then.
  17. And Ward is **** and Rudkin out
  18. He certainly won't be free, players run down their contracts to get bigger signing on fees and pay and agents get more for out of contract players too.
  19. Sincerely hope the 2 clubs aren't playing with a young man's dreams to sort their financial woes.
  20. 9am ferry to Calais and 10pm back
  21. I'm busted again
  22. Easier to get him to drink some of it.
  23. Sessengnon makes a lot of sense with his versatility and him holding the world record for hitting both posts and the crossbar.
  24. I was stating facts! Ward was poor in the relegation season but so were the majority of the squad, my opinion is his contribution doesn't warrant 160 pages of vitriol and the typically pathetic insult of "I assume you're voting Tory too" from someone I've never met and knows nothing about me.
  25. Just a different perspective, if you have trouble dealing with that and resort to personal attacks I'll leave it with you.
