The Running Thread (formerly How fast can you run a 5k?)
Ric Flair replied to Sly's topic in General Chat
My training block has not started well, this time not through injury (even though I could feel i was pushing things that i'll need to be very careful with) But I've had a chest problem most of the year and having kept on at the doctors with it, its backfired as I've had a horrible reaction to some steroids that has given me full blown insomnia for nearly week now and i'm in absolute ruins. Now feel ill but not sure if that's as a consequence of not sleeping, its pure torture. Going back the doctors tomorrow but running wise I think i'm going to just do a few gentle runs between now and the end of the year and hope I can attack the training block in January and still do OK. -
Just for context, if we do get a points deduction and it's 6-9 points then that would put us 9-12 off the play-offs with 25 games remaining. To make up that amount of points over just over half a season would require us to average 2 points a game for the rest of the season. It's a tall ask, not impossible but we have shown very little consistency to manage that.

That is what we're asking for and we haven't seen that yet WITHOUT Antonio being here. Is he going to get those important minutes if Atonio comes in? Debatable. We need to be brave and committed in this evolution.
-
To be honest him and Ayew will scratch an itch I've had since the brief pairing of Nathan Blake and Dion Dublin. The question is, when do either move back to CB to help out. We are a disgrace of a football club. Sadly I was told about this a few days ago and hoped it was a joke.

Hahahaa a very good description that. Doing 20km in them in the morning. -
Yeah, the league being as tight as it is makes this unhelpful. If we are getting a points deduction, let's have it ASAP so it focuses the minds. We carry on winning/drawing/losing equally then with a 6-9 deduction it will make things get very uncomfortable at the end of the season as we'll be embroiled in it. You don't want to be on much less than 53 points.

Michail Antonio.......

Has to come back at the end of the month as we've barely any central midfielders and I don't want Winks or Soumare having to be turned to.
-
If he is injured then we are absolutely screwed.
-
As cultured and composed as he is, it's his awareness on when to get the fcuker gone that reassures me in this team. Love him.

Whilst I do think we are relegation material, the future of this club is player development. Jakub is hardly young but he's a work in progress and I'd much rather we built our team around him than favour Begovic (who is a great advocate of Stolarczyk's) Needs to dust himself down after last night.
-
And yet without him we'd probably be in the relegation zone this season. Fans seem to forget the array of very good things he does. Needs to improve though as his weaknesses seem avoidable.

Let's hope Hamza has a decent game, not had one for a long while. His last visit to Ashton Gate was not pretty either, just waddled about the pitch losing his man. Mehmeti's goal was from him being nowhere. -
Stephan actually has a respectable managerial career doesn't he? Far more accomplished than Cifuentes anyway and it is a little awkward the vast difference. 10 points ahead of this time last season.

Marathon training is underway. Did a slow 10 miler on Sunday with minimal issues after and did an 11km tempo run yesterday which was horrid. Mix of cramping thighs (odd) and running in the dark around London with one between me cheeks was not ideal. Foot is slightly aching today but nothing I'd ordinarily even register as being a potential problem so hopefully i'm ticking over OK. I have bought yet more new trainers as was recommended some Asics Gel Kayano 31s for peroneal tendonitis which someone was selling an unused pair for just £40 on vinted so was a no brainer. Will do a few of the long runs in those and see if it helps protect my foot. -

You are an animal I am a purveyor of both the Novablasts and EVO SLs and struggle to pick between the two but the Adidas are down to about £90 in some colours which is tasty. Go at least half a size up though. You on strava? -

Yes, Hamza put in one of the most half arsed displays I've ever seen as well. -
Awkward

QPR seemingly in better nick this season than they were under Marti McFly??

We'd have an air of menace about us with one of those in there, seldom seen since the days of Ali Mauchlen. -

Doesn't deserve his name pronouncing properly. -
Are you genuinely trying to make a case for we aren't that bad? Christ alive.
