  1. I guess this sums it up...
  2. I think a lot of it comes down to Ricardo being out and that we don't have anyone else who's a natural for playing that right-back/midfielder role; Hamza looks okay in midfield or in defense but seems to be easy to isolate in transition. That forces panic-adjustments from the centre-backs, which gets them back into last season's form. It really feels like it would have made more sense to have a plan B rather than put square pegs into round holes.
  3. For a slight bit of revisionist history, I've always been surprised by how people forget how many games there were left when he got sacked & how easy a ride Dave Bassett gets for having it just get worse instead of turning it around.
  4. This is a good thing - when those sorts of parents do it, they don't try and do the job they just try and con the ref really badly, fail miserably at that, then start shouting at the ref "if you're going to give me a flag why can't you ****ing listen? what's the ****ing point" and then they'll get bored, wander off, come back and alternate between yelling at the ref and yelling at their kid. (just to clarify; that's not about anyone mentioned in this thread, just stuff I've seen happen a few years back.)
  5. ł is a wl sound in Polish and the a with an accent under it is like ahn.
  6. Completely impossible to predict. https://amp.spectator.co.uk/article/rishi-sunak-s-petulant-attempt-to-start-a-run-on-the-pound/amp
  7. Wout is love, baby don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more?
  8. To be fair, I never got to vibrate with him.
  9. Newcastle went from the Champions League to the Championship in the same length of time.
  10. I dunno, I wouldn't trust people on here to spell Ward either.
  11. It can be harsh in strength, but fair as in being applied equally.
  12. Newcastle fans' issues with Ashley aren't that he's not rich enough, but more that after his initial burst of optimism ended with him falling out with Keegan his approach has been to run it like Sports Direct and tried to cost cut everything (including basic decency around when Gutierrez had cancer). They've gone way down the list in terms of commerical income, it's hardly increased while sponsorship deals and the like have skyrocketed for everyone else. It's not like it's being run well but outmuscled, it's choosing to extract value rather than allow for reinvesting the profits they make. The reason you'd describe them as 'faltering' is down to how it's been run; their previous finishes before he took over were 4th, 3rd, 5th, 14th, 7th. Since then, they've been relegated twice. I'm sure there's some who only see it in terms of not having any big splashy transfers, but the guys I've spoken to all see it as more the general malaise that comes with trying to achieve 17th as cheaply as possible rather than trying to make progress or achieve anything, and would have seen a steady attempt to get back to the top based on reinvesting money generated from healthy growth as a perfectly acceptable process and were happy with Benitez (who then quit and blamed Ashley). Wanting Ashley out is a different thing from wanting the Saudis in.
  13. I'm gutted it fell apart right at the death like that, but we've had hypothetical scenarios on here way back of "Would you rather an FA Cup or a 4th Place" and I was always on the "win the cup" side of the equation so I'm sure I'll get over it sharpish.
  14. Cursed it I was thinking about getting a new TV during the week but spent so long umming and aahing about it the one I wanted went out of stock, so 2005-vintage 720p it is. Ordered a takeaway instead.
  15. I think this one is pretty iconic by now https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
  16. This one was too, but they changed it last year so that causing a retake is a yellow card. I dunno how they'd do it if it's the kicker in a shootout though. Which just means that during the World Cup, no penalties will get retaken no matter how blatant. Nah, he's moving early, but he shuffles backward and gets a launch forward. He's not actually that far from having his trailing foot still be on the line.
  17. The statistics show that people tend to click through to them more often than top 10s. Dunno why though.
  18. Absolutely, can't blame him for wanting a new job, but pulling a sickie to go to a job interview can be a bit of a dick move if things are busy, even if it's totally understandable.
  19. On the positive side, with it being Man City, can there be a ridiculous buy-back clause for when they get bored and decide to sign another half a dozen random players instead in a year or so please?
  20. He wasn't even the worst winger in that team. Don't you remember Josh Low?
  21. Net Neutrality isn't a new concept, the changes in the FCCs categorisation a few years back that strengthened it weren't the start of this, it's always been in place and the attempts by telecoms companies to change it have gone on since about 2000, with A Series of Tubes. It's a very good thing, that's pretty key to the internet in its current form. Can things exist with a slightly weaker set of restrictions? Sure, there's traffic shaping here that wouldn't pass FCC's restrictions, where certain types of traffic get prioritised over others, but to do away with it entirely so that your traffic could get totally messed about with depending on destination... it's crazy and would cause a lot of problems for everyone. It's just a way of allowing a few telecoms companies to run an extortion racket, really.
  22. This isn't big or clever. It's a bunch of hipsters trying to be irreverrent. But it's still bloody catchy.
  23. I just completed this quiz. My Score 40/100 My Time 147 seconds
  24. It's mad that one of those was so crazy, and now if anything doesn't go 0-60 quicker than that people whine that it's slow.
  25. At the prices you're being quoted, you're already around rock bottom, which is why it's going weird; the dashcam is presumably considered higher risk of someone breaking in to steal it than the likelihood of you crashing into anything.
