*Proud Dad post* Our daughter just got her A level results this morning. She got A*, A, B, and an A for her EPQ. She's also been accepted in Exeter Uni to study Maths starting next month. I've never seen anyone graft so hard for it and she's a proper geek/nerd. Despite all the challenges over the years with her OCD, anxiety, and therapy, she battled through it all with great resilience. So happy for her

At least we can just concentrate on a relegation battle now

Saw this thread was bumped and realized I've been off the wagon since Mum died in December after 8 years without a drink. Dad offered me a whiskey the night of her passing and it tasted so good. We spent the next two weeks drinking different whiskeys every night and bam - I'm back on it again. Started drinking the odd bottle of beer when the weather started getting hot and now drinking a couple every night then a few whiskeys before bedtime. All the stress of this house move/renovation among other things and feels like I'm becoming dependent again. I've had stretches over the last 35 years where I've been off and on the booze for years at a time. I can't just seem to have just the odd drink now and again. I'm all or nothing and always have been.

I can't wait for the Ashes. It's going to be epic.

As a youth, David Gower and I.T. Botham were my England cricketing hero's. During the last 40 years England have had some decent players but nobody has really made my balls twitch like those two did. Until Ben Stokes. I love everything about him (apart from being a Kiwi ) What a talent and what a leader. We'll miss him hugely when he's gone.
