  1. I thought Graham's comments on recent BlueTintedGlasses were excellent, even though he got in a squabble with Anil, who I normally like very much.
  2. Your punctuation is correct as the quote is a complete sentence. Full-stop goes outside if the quotation is not a complete sentence (in UK, but not in USA!).
  3. In 2019, I had a drink at this beach bar ("Sunshine's" home of the "Killer Bee" cocktail) in Nevis (island in West Indies)
  4. East coast with a more reasonable 7:30 am start!
  5. We need this to be a jigsaw puzzle!
  6. I'm in the. US with Fox Hub subscription. I couldn't connect for the start of Bristol game, but after I restarted my computer it worked (coincidence?), so I missed about 5-10 mins of first half.
  7. I'm in the US and have a subscription. Works well. Only hitch I've had was needing to log out and log back into my account to activate video. I stream from Macbook Pro to TV - should work with any decent computer though. I actually like listening to the biased commentary.
  8. Agree with Vardy (Man U), Mahrez (Man C) and Schmeichel (Chelsea) plus Kante (various) from last 10 years. But Gordon Banks vs Liverpool FA Cup Semi-final in 1963 deserve a mention from an old timer.
  9. It's spelt differently though; aluminUM vs aluminIUM which explains the different pronunciations - for that word anyway
  10. I like moddiecoddle - i.e., the mods of the forum going easy on him for a while
  11. Agree that the post-game discussion can get a bit repetitive, but bear in mind they're just trying to fill time till Rogers is available. I actually enjoy all the podcasts and I think the new Boot Room is better without the regular BIrchenall in the pub spot.
  12. Organized football at my primary school in Leicester the mid 60s was essentially non-existent. My secondary school only officially played rugby which I was fairly good at, but always resented not being able to play football so my heart was never into rugby. I played football every day in pickup games at lunchtimes. After uni for bachelors and PhD, I moved to the US, got married had children and by coaching my kids soccer team I was connected to players in the adult soccer league in the area. So in my mid 30s I finally got to play on a proper soccer team! Since then I played once or twice a week on over-30 and over-40 teams and finally hung up the boots in my mid 50s, with a knee injury. I thought when coming from England the standard of soccer in US would not be that great, only to find teams with US college-level players and sprinkled with ex-pros who had emigrated from Europe and South America. Glad to say I more than held my own as a mid.
  13. Vival claim to be showing the game. Anyone used this before? I'm in the US. Thanks
  14. I enjoyed seeing him quiz Brendan about defensive tactics after the game v Notts C. - maybe trying to impress with an eye to getting a coaching position?
  15. Oh good to hear, I was just about to post that I thought he was impressive today.
  16. An interesting look back. The fox on some of those older ones was not very fox-like!
  17. Fascinating to read details of a change in formation after the semi-final vs Liverpool that led to, or coincided with, a series of poor results at the end of the season. Also loved the stories about Dougan, who was one of my favourites.
  18. Thanks for posting this. Enjoyed his back-story and reading about life as a pro in those days. I saw him play so many times - solid #5 shirt.
  19. espn+ in the US
  20. "early doors" what's wrong with just "early"
  21. Sad news indeed. He leaves fond memories for thousands of us older City fans, some like me now scattered around the world. I saw him lift the League Cup at Filbert Street, but the mental image that comes to mind first is a rare goal that he scored with a long-range shot that seemed to me, as a young boy on the popular side, to be about on the halfway line. RIP Colin ("Determined Skipper" - the caption underneath a photo of him from the Sports Mercury that I put in my City scrapbook)
  22. Sad news indeed. Many memories of seeing him at Filbert Street, but one recollection that immediately comes to mind was watching on TV as he came on as a sub for England and playing wonderfully - the commentator said he did not think a substitute had ever affected a game so much as Worthington did that evening (in #17 shirt I think).
  23. Thanks for posting - really enjoyed watching. They were from a couple of years before I started following, but I recognized all the City players' names though.
  24. Great to read his recollections. I saw him play in many games over the years. The memory that first comes to mind is seeing his goal in the FA Cup in 1971 vs Torquay - the ball came out to him on the right-side edge of the area and he slammed it in first time, I was in the Popular side and directly in line with him and the goal and had a great view of it hit the back of the net - maybe I remember that well as its timing coincided with the symptoms of a hangover suddenly disappearing. I remember Cross also being picked as a substitute fielder for England's cricket team, and was watching on TV when he came on in a test match, presumably to relieve someone who had to relieve himself!
  25. Yes, remember how Fuchs completely nullified Mahrez in League Cup game last year.
