Good shouts for Johnson, Knight, Wood, & Dewsbury-Hall. They’ve all shown promise this season. But I think they are the next batch after Hughes, Choudhury, Barnes & Thomas. There is only limited space in the first team squad, so we can only promote so many. However in the summer of 2019 Simpson, Morgan & Fuchs contracts run out, so if they leave it will free up room in the squad for the likes of Johnson, Knight & Wood. In regards to Dewsbury-Hall, we’re pretty stacked at CM. But if James continues to struggle with injuries next season we could see Dewsbury-Hall introduced sooner than expected. I also have to agree with people that it’s highly likely these lads will only get a chance if it’s Puel in charge.

We might not have to spend hundreds of millions in the summer as we’ve got some talented players coming through. We’ve seen Hamza’s progression already and I think some of these lads would be useful additions to our senior squad. Those that I think should be in the first team squad: Sam Hughes - Clearly our best defender for the u23s and is very comfortable on the ball. Has been given the captains armband on several occasions so he is a leader too. Honestly is it beyond the realms of possibility he could partner Maguire? If we don’t sign Dragovic, he has a chance of being 2nd choice imo. Hamza Choudhury - Looks very good. Great positioning, aggressive in the tackle, reads the game well - a worthy competitor for Ndidi’s spot. Harvey Barnes - Looks like a natural number 10. He wasn’t impressive in the Fa Cup games but the talent is there. If he works hard over the summer, could he potentially be the solution to the number 10 role? George Thomas - Our most gifted attacker for the u23s. He seems to have a footballing brain and shows intelligence in the final third by making the right decisions. Which is why I think he can make the step up. He looks dangerous on the wing but he’s also rotated a lot mid game, playing behind the striker where he’s been effective so that might be another option for us to explore. Who would you like to see in the first team squad?

Imo we’d look so much stronger with a new RB and LB. As Fuchs is staying and Chilwell unlikely to leave, what about signing a LB and using Fuchs as 4th choice CB? I know he’s not great at CB, but as 4th choice we won’t be reliant on him anyway, providing we sign a solid partner for Maguire.

He’s average and will probably cost 30m or something ridiculous. We have better options to pursue such as signing Dragovic or promoting Hughes/Knight to the first team squad.

Tonight was his best performance for us imo. I’d be interested to know how many tackles/interceptions he got and how many forward passes he made, the stats must be quite high. My favourite part of his performance was his positioning. He showed intelligence by getting into the right positions ready to stop the opposition. His positioning is similar to Iborra’s, but Choudhury on top of good positioning has the athleticism to take the ball from the opposition.

Hope we can get another goal or two and bring on Barnes & Thomas

Ugh hope Silva’s ok. Iborra’s slow build up play and lack of movement off the ball could kill our momentum.

If Puel does stay, what is the end goal? I can’t see us ever breaking into the top 6 playing a possession based style, because there are already plenty of teams better at it than us.
