It was interesting that after the Plymouth defeat it was suggested the players almost broke rank to play slightly different to get us over the line last season. I would suggest aside from Palace, have our improved 2nd half performances been as a result of the players going slightly rogue and stepping away from the passive and negative tactical set up.

There is really no defence of that performance, league 2 opposition and we had 2 shots on target during normal time, our goalkeeper is man of the match and the absolute worst of all, 2 very exciting young talents on the bench are ignored and given zero game time. There really are no redeeming qualities to last night or this manager and the club need to accept that this appointment has not worked and will not work, he is so far out of his depth it is beyond belief. Just get him gone ASAP before we throw away much more of this season. -

He hasn’t been banned his punishment is a free season ticket and poster of spaghetti coops -
I never wanted him here in the first place, much in the same way I never wanted Megson as it felt such an unimaginative, unappealing and underwhelming appointment, all he has done for a good proportion of pre-season and in our competitive games to date is re-endorse to me that this was such a poor decision by the club. Clearly the players aren’t having him, so if that is the case then why should the fans. He is a championship manager at best, he performed a minor miracle in getting Forest out the Championship and then seemed to struggle in the prem but was fortunate that we decided to pretty much down tools and take the relegation place. Since he has arrived he has managed at some point to sideline a good proportion of last seasons better players, his tactics are negative and his game management is appalling. I am ashamed to say in that 2nd half i wouldn’t have been arsed if we had conceded if it meant he was shown the door this morning. This is worse than anything under Puel and sadly on a par with Megsons very short but very hideous tenure. Get him gone either before or immediately after the Arsenal game but do not give him one more chance at a very winnable fixture as we are highly likely throwing away a golden opportunity to secure much needed points.

Just a week to go so thought I would bump this thread and hopefully keep raising awareness and support for such an amazing cause. Still yet to hear back from the club. -
Given the clubs philosophy has been very much focused around the development and promotion of academy players I wonder how the now broken run of games has gone down with the clubs hierarchy, I can’t believe it won’t have gone unnoticed. In terms of our football identity, the style of play employed, now the moving away from utilising the clubs own developed players, plus there is clearly some issues with certain established players, I would be shocked if the club is not concerned with how quickly Cooper has started to dismantle what has been a pretty long standing project. I know many say it’s too early to cut ties but given he is so out of sync with what the club has been looking to do over the past 6-7 years, whilst not really backing up his decisions with results will surely lead to a fairly hasty parting of the ways.

My team would be - Iversen Ricardo Coady Vesty Thomas Choudhury Skipp McAteer Bilal Alves BDR

I think you could add Kasper Hjelmund to the list, recently left the Denmark job, think we have been linked with him previously, I really like the way Denmark played under him. Very good tactically and I think he would get a decent tune out of this squad and his team always seemed to play a high intensity style which would be well received by the fanbase.

Yesterday summed him up for me, we barely laid a glove on them until Mavididi’s scruffy equaliser. We had two shots on target against a club conceding goals right, left and centre. I actually don’t recall Pickford having to make a save of any note They had a 39 year old left back and a makeshift full back and yet chose to leave Fatawu on the bench until the last 4 minutes. Ricardo saw no game time, Edouard got 10 minutes and he made 3 subs at separate times, surely yesterday was crying out for more changes and a lot earlier than +80 minutes to bring on fresh attacking impetus. I watched the game and every time the camera panned to Cooper he genuinely looked lost, like he didn’t know what to do, he is so far out of his depth, we were outplayed for large spells by a team who had not yet picked up a point until yesterday. Everton could and probably should have been 3 or 4 up by the time we equalised. The issue and concern I have, is that we aren’t actually that defensively solid despite the negative tactics. we are conceding a lot of very good chances and let’s be clear had Spurs or Everton taken the numerous good chances then we could have been on the end of a couple of heavy defeats. This is a competitive squad with some decent attacking options so I am more than bemused with his obsession of being so negative and he is genuinely stifling us. I don’t think sacking him will happen this early but it should as he is so clearly out of his depth and it already feels that he is struggling to gain the respect of the squad. I hope the club act quickly and decisively and have no concern or regard for external perception, this is a poor appointment and the club need to rectify it at the earliest opportunity, this has been such a downgrade from Enzo.

Subs killed our momentum last week and lack of subs this week has meant we haven’t been able to really throw the kitchen sink at Everton. It’s all too cautious no doubt saving a sub to make a defensive change for injury time.
-
We are fortunate to not be 2/3 down to a team that has had their arse handed to them on a plate, in most of their games so far. We have a manager who believes that Vesty, Ricardo and Abdul are not worthy of starting in such a game, get him gone before he destroys this season and alienates a number of talented players.
-
Looks that way, interesting that 2 of the 3 players absolutely critical to how Enzo played have been sidelined.
-
Good to see Bilal get a start but have to say I am scratching my head somewhat that Ayew starts over Abdul, Skipp dropping out is a strange one too and Ricardo continues to miss out. No Vesty or McAteer involvement in the matchday squad is another strange one.

Thank you, although still not had an acknowledgment from LCFC Help to my email just under 2 weeks ago and same from the email to the board from just under a week ago, hopefully I hear something next week as it gets closer to the challenge starting. -
My big fear from what we have witnessed to date is at some stage of the game, Cooper will cack his pants and set us up to be very negative, be it with his team selection and tactical set up to contain and stay in the game or if we do go ahead he will make defensive substitutions and concede territory and attacking intent, either way at some point he will hand the initiative to the opposition and it has resulted in us conceding goals and this far killing our chances of securing wins. I think our issue this season will be we will draw way too many games, where we should be targeting wins. Today I can see us either being ultra cautious and going a goal down and then having to throw the kitchen sink to try and rescue a point or go ahead and then go ultra defensive and negative, concede any momentum in the game and gift them a point or more.
-
I really hope Cooper shows he is prepared to be flexible in his team selection and pick horses for courses and not just go with what worked last week. Very different approach needed today. They will sit deep so we need players capable of drawing them out, it will be very similar to last season so highly likely we will control and dominate possession, I have horrible feeling he will go with a very defensive and workmanlike line up and we end up struggling to break them down and get hit with a sucker punch and lose 1-0 my team would be, not that I think he will go for it. Development/Youth Squads 2024/2025 Thread - U18/U21
Claudio Fannieri replied to davieG's topic in Leicester City Forum
Given the investment, success and focus we have had on our academy in recent years, regardless of the division we find ourselves in, we should always be targeting the promotion of 2 or 3 academy players each season into the 1st team and to be regularly involved in the matchday squad, there has to be a pathway, if we can develop a production line of homegrown talent and then sell a star player each season, this is a model that can push us on to be competitive whilst also ensuring a long term sustainable future and PSR compliance. But to get this model up and running we need invest in a manager and coaching team fully committed to the project, give them time and accept for the overall good of the club we may have to take 1 step back to take 2 or 3 big strides forward. The club have to be brave, back their vision and employ people that align with that philosophy. -
Or when Puel thought it was the right time to leave out Vardy.
-
Absolutely magnificent post, good valid points, eloquently articulated and I think sums up my feelings 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
-
If he is carrying a knock it’s a strange one that he is being selected for the bench and effectively restricting the options available to you from the bench. It’s just a very peculiar situation.
-
What is clear is he doesn’t trust him or refuses to utilise him in the premier league when we are chasing a game or when we are looking to close a victory out, so on that basis I struggle to see how he will get any semblance of game time whilst Cooper is here unless it is in the cup games. Surely in the 4 games so far in the league, there would have been a positive in utilising Ricardo to try and influence the result in a positive aspect.

Emailed the club last Monday to both the Help and Press email addresses and not even received an acknowledgment reply let alone anything else. So last night I sent it on to the board so hopefully will get some positive engagement as they did last year 😊
