We were led to believe that we needed promotion to help our finances. …… Our last season in the championship we lost just under £20m on revenue of £105m fast forward to our season back in the premier league and the supposed golden egg of increased revenues and on a turnover of £185m, an increase of £80m rather than make a profit or at least see a reduction in our losses we instead saw our losses increase to over £70m. So our reaction to securing an additional £80m in revenue was to spend an additional £130m to further increase our losses, from a collective of people who claimed lessons had been learnt from our initial relegation. The result of this massive overspend was an abject relegation, a squad with very few saleable assets, a bloated and unbalanced playing squad on inflated wages and very difficult to move on without taking a hit on book value or subsidising wages. We now sit here on the verge of league one and financial collapse and to top it all off the 2 key people advising and supporting Aiyawatt have been rewarded for this level of honking performance with promotions. If this does not demonstrate the massive drop off in standards and culture then nothing does. Trying to convince KP supporters to wake up and smell the coffee or at least recognise what a shambles we now are, seems a forlorn and futile move. They seem to just dig in even more, double down that everything will be fine and deflect by calling out anyone who dares to challenge the status quo as negative, entitled, not backing the lads and the real reasons we are in the situation we are in. Anything but admit we need a complete overhaul from top to bottom.

I can honestly see us losing this. Wednesday haven’t won at home in the league all season and along come the ever obliging Leicester City.
-
Couldn’t agree more changed very little except made us quite hard to beat away from home whilst our home form continues to falter. One win in 8 games from a supposed experienced championship manager who has alienated most of the academy prospects from the squad and yet again turned to the tried and tested who have let this club down time and time again and guess what we are seeing the same old story. Whatever the outcome of this season, I hope by 3rd May it is announced he has left at the conclusion of his contract.

Absolutely spot on I cannot believe how many fans still back this ownership and leadership team despite what has happened these last 4 years. £270m lost, 2 relegations and staring a 3rd in the face which will send us into league one and potential financial meltdown, horrendous recruitment of players and managers, lack of engagement with its fanbase, dubious sponsorship arrangements with obscure betting/crypto companies plus endless more PR own goals including the Christmas payroll fiasco. And yet so many continue to give them a free pass, in fact will resort to getting quite aggressive in their defence of the club and toward anyone who dares not to conform. The Premier League win and FA Cup triumph is sadly becoming a millstone around the neck of the club, it’s almost like because we won both we are not allowed to ever criticise or complain ever again. So from a ‘plastic ‘ and/or ‘glory grabber’ of over 45 years to the many true loyal fans please explain to me how the Manager who led us to the Premier League title and the Manager who was in charge of the FA Cup Final win have both been sacked since those heady days, and yet the people who are now residing over this absolute shambles which not only is impacting our on field demise but also places the very existence of our club at risk, are beyond criticism and should be allowed to continue to run the club into the ground and potentially drive us into administration and possible liquidation. when does this free pass expire with some of our fanbase because if I recall correctly with the Managers it didn’t last that long so what is so different with Aiyawatt, Rudkin and Kevin Davies?
-
The continued attempted gaslighting and spin to the media that the likes of Rudkin and Kevin Davies have done a good job and it’s all PSR’s fault. No it isn’t even last year shows we are poorly ran and make bad decisions, we spent a fortune on Ayew, Okoli, Reid, Skipp, and Eduard we sacked two managers both ill thought out appointments on the way to a feeble relegation and posting a loss of over £70m. And now as it stands today we are staring relegation to league one flush in the face we have had the shame of our first ever points deduction and if we are relegated we are facing financial meltdown …….. the reaction to this is to promote the Director of Football and the Finance Director and give them both even more power and influence. Absolutely beggars belief.

LCFC 2-2 Preston, post-match thread

Couldn’t agree more I reckon at least half of those 28 were pot shots from outside the box with most more endangering the flask drinkers than the goal. I thought from about 15 minutes in until about 65/70 minutes we were quite passive in large spells happy to just knock it about without really trying to hurt Preston. There was very little to really get you off your seat. It was hardly blood and thunder football. I think anyone who is trying to say yesterday is a turning point is clutching at straws. We all want to get out of this relegation sized hole but let’s be straight that was yet again another opportunity blown, another chance against rank average opposition missed and on the balance of what we have witnessed this season more evidence that this group ain’t going to suddenly go and win 3 or 4 on the bounce. -

we were playing a team already on the beach and just about managed to snatch a draw. At 1-0 up after 3 minutes we should have gone out to kill the game off. Just shows how low expectations are now that we should be celebrating and lauding the players for a 2-2 home draw to Preston North End. Standards are on the floor. Another opportunity against a bang average side squandered. -
Pre planned sub of Lascelles and then a lacklustre decision to bring on Bobby Reid why not bring Monga on against tired legs and players on yellow cards
-
We are so passive, this is do or die and yet we still look in 2nd gear. Real lack of urgency given our predicament.
-
Absolute fecking disgrace of a performance from 15 minutes onwards. Rowett has put all his eggs in the experience camp and it’s backfiring spectacularly as guess what, as per usual this mob keep letting us down. PNE are woeful and yet we are that bad and disinterested that they are managing to be beating us 2-1. the club and culture is absolutely rotten on and off the pitch and yet we have just rewarded 2 people who have played a massive part in the shambles with promotions.
-
1-0 up inside 3 minutes and a chance to really go at them and bury them instead we dropped right off and let them back in. Far too cautious as a manager. No better than King or Marti.
-
Own goals?
-
What a job Alex Neill has done at Millwall
-
Let’s hope so, he is either unplayable or an absolute liability and walking red card, so no doubt a hat trick against the ever obliging Leicester City
-
Preston will be in our faces and I think they will look to bully us, they can be a really physical team to play against and against our spineless little loves we will no doubt fold. Osmajic will run us ragged at the back. No JJ is a massive blow as he is such a key player for us and sets the tone.
-
Got to be honest even if we stay up I really haven’t seen enough from him to give me any confidence he is the man for next season or long term.
-
Because they have been horrific since the new year not withstanding the fact that we have as well it will be like watching 2 bald men fighting over a comb
-
At least one positive is the club using Page and Jakub to promote the season ticket sales imagine if the likes of JV, Ayew, Bobby et al had been used 😂
-
As I keep saying PSR compliance is not a barometer for the financial health of the club, whilst we may end up being compliant and not breaching and not getting a points deduction. We have lost over £70m in a season when our revenues were significantly increased and yet we managed to blow a kings ransom on players like Caleb Okoli, Jordan Ayew, Oliver Skipp and Bobby Reid which has left us with minimal saleable assets to help us out the mire. This loss is deeply concerning as we appear to have learnt nothing from the past we have recruited very very poorly and the underlying problems will only get worse given our current position and lack of saleable assets that will yield the value required to stabilise our finances. I am really really concerned as these level of losses are unsustainable, there is not a bottomless pit of money to resolve our woes and without a massive shift in strategy I really cannot see how we fix this.
-
And yet some still blame our woes on PSR not dogshit recruitment and financial decision making
-
If and it’s a big if we manage to stay up then given the infrastructure and the promotion opportunity then to PE it would probably be somewhere in the region of £180m to £200m as you stated earlier, however if we do get relegated then the picture changes dramatically, the value of the club reduces by half and instead of it being a promotion opportunity and double your money sale, the challenge becomes more of a long term recovery project. the next few weeks are massive for the club not only on the pitch but also whether we are at immediate risk of administration but also what opportunities lie ahead for any potential KP / Aiyawatt exit strategy if they have one.
-
To aid these horrific losses the club has also continued to sell its soul work front of shirt sponsorship with obscure betting/crypto companies such as FBS and BC Game…….not forgetting the failed and aborted partnership with K BET at the beginning of the season. In addition our pretty uninspiring deal with adidas that in recent years has delivered some pretty boring kits, trotting out in a fairly standard bland template home kit and some pretty garish away/3rd kits. Our model or lack of one both on and off the pitch is so lazy and predictable, we have lost all creativity in how we operate and as a consequence we continue to haemorrhage money. I repeat over the last 4 years accounts we have lost £275m which equates to £200k per day and all that to deliver 2 relegations and create the foundation for a potential 3rd relegation this season which will take us into league 1. And yet here we are following a restructure, with 2 of the key decision makers in this latest set of accounts, horrific finances and an embarrassing relegation, whilst following up this season with similar, rewarded with promotion. This is why football and our club is going to hell in a handcart because in any other walk of life and business, for one these losses would not be allowed without drastic recovery measures and both would be relieved of their duties for such poor performance. £275m lost in 4 years and barely a saleable asset of any real value left. Abdul we will do well to get £20m and the rest will mainly be sales of academy prospects with heavy performance and sell on % if negotiated well but let’s be honest in reality there is very little left in regards to players who are going to generate big fees to get us out of this mess.
-
It doesn’t matter if we are fine from a PSR perspective, these losses are putting the very existence of our club at risk. Over the last 4 years we have lost on average £200k per day so we have cash in bank to cover about 3 weeks … we are in the absolute mire.
