I said this at the time the Super League was announced. I genuinely wanted those six clubs to go. It would have provided an opportunity for the English football pyramid to be reformed in a way that benefits the majority of its members. Another thing that bothered me about the Super League was seeing Man United and Liverpool fans who weren't from Manchester or Liverpool getting all worked up about it when they had contributed to the problem in the first place. I have far more time for Forest fans from Nottingham, Derby fans from Derby and Coventry fans from Coventry than I'll ever have for Liverpool or Man United fans from Kent.

Surely Robins will be sacked if Cov fail to beat Luton on Saturday. Their squad should be nowhere near the bottom three. -
Aldi's imitation of Moretti 'Mapelli' is much much nicer than Moretti.

It's funny because they see themselves as the positive ones and I think they genuinely believe that they're doing more good than harm for having that mindset. The truth is, in addition to support sometimes the club you support needs a good kick up the arse. I truly believe that a big reason that Everton haven't been relegated over the past three years is that their support don't tolerate a lot of what they've been served up. If they get relegated this year, they'll demolish Goodison themselves and their new stadium, whereas many of our lot clap the team off after delivering the most avoidable relegation in living memory.

No excuse for Cov not to make the play-offs this season. Robins may get the bullet if their form doesn't pick up soon. -
He can go back to lying in bed picking bits of tissue out of his bumhole for all I care. Just please never manage another game for my football club.

Controversial opinion (maybe), but if Coventry fail to finish in the top six of the championship this season as a bare minimum, Robins should be sacked. He's done a brilliant job overall but that squad really should be chalkengining for promotion. If they want to go up,they're going to have to be ruthless. -
Which teams are supported in your workplace?

What do we think? I like him. He's very good at carrying the ball forward.

I went to see the band American Football at Rock City last night. It was good! However, the fella in front of me had his phone up filming pretty much the whole show. Now, I get getting one little video to prove you were there. I accept that is the modern way and I can be guilty of this, but why do you need to film anything beyond that? You can't tell me that you're gonna watch all of it back when you get home. I've not paid for a ticket to watch pretty much the whole show through your phone screen.

I actually don't mind so much that Cooper's football is shite, as long as it gets results. With that in mind I wouldn't have cared if we had appointed a manager whose football is hideous but has a proven track record at this level of getting results i.e. a Sean Dyche or David Moyes type.
-
He's frustrating. Has the attributes to be a top class defender, but has moments of complete madness. A consistent 7/10 performer would probably serve us better at this point.
-
I'm certainly not as harsh as some. I've seen shouts for him to be sacked already. I'm nowhere near being at that point. I don't hold him solely responsible for our defeat. I think our squad isn't good enough first and foremost. I can point out what appear to be his faults without calling for his head.
-
I'm cutting him some slack for now. Our squad isn't very good. However, him leaving Mavididi and Ricardo on when we're struggling to create chances is poor. He seems allergic to creative footballers. He seems to just like footballers that just work hard. That alone is not enough at this level.
-
Actually surprised that people are being so negative. Yes, it wasn't very good but what were you expecting? Our team isn't very good.
-
If we're 3-0 down with 5-10 minutes to go and it's obvious that we're not going to get it back, then sure, by all means leave early. However, on Monday we were drawing against one of the best sides in the league and the team were showing real grit and deserved support in getting over the line. I just don't get that.
-
I wasn't really in favour of his appointment, but no matter how bad that first half was, I came away from the game convinced that we have a far better chance of staying in this league under Cooper than if Maresca had stayed.

Most people who I've met that have been in the forces are massive willy pullers who can't wait to tell you that they were in the forces.

Southgate steps down as England manager
BenTheFox replied to foxfanazer's topic in General Football and Sport
I think he'd take it if he was out of work, but why would he take a pay cut for it when he has a good job? That's not the only obstacle here either. The FA cup would have to pay Newcastle a compensation package. He'd be my first choice if he was interested. It's not essential but I'd like an English manager, and he's the best we have. International football generally doesn't appeal to top managers like it used to. It's mostly ex club managers at the end of their careers or people who have come through the country's youth setup. Nagelsmann at Germany is an exception. He was Bayern manager, which is a more lucrative job in my opinion, but he was sacked. -

I absolutely think that he wouldn't take a pay cut to manage England. People massively overestimate the appeal of the England job in this day and age. The intense media scrutiny, going months without being able work with the squad instead of being able to work with the players daily, having an entire nation thinking they can somehow do the job better than you and success or failure being defined by a tournament every two years rather than over a season with at least 38 games when anyone can lose in a one off game against a side they are expected to beat. -
Tuchel is the only one of those that would consider it imo. If I could handpick a manager a 'big name' to manage England it would be Ancelotti. Proven time and again to be tactically astute in big games and his biggest strength more than anything else is to get talented to like and respect him. He definitely doesn't leave Real Madrid to manage England though. The issue with Klopp and Guardiola other than them not being interested in it is that they're both systematic managers who have specific styles of football that take time to implement. In international management you don't have the luxury of being to work with the players daily, nor do you have the luxury of signing players to strengthen your weakest areas to make it work.

Southgate steps down as England manager

Eddie Howe is paid a much better salary at Newcastle than Southgate was at England. Not only would the FA have to at least match his salary to drag him away from Newcastle, they'd also have have to have pay Newcastle compensation. I just don't see it happening. -
Yeah, he was on some podcast a few years ago and said that Southgate did very well in blooding in new players and he admitted that he wouldn't have been anywhere near as bold in doing so. After the one game that Allardyce managed for England he said that "Rooney can play wherever he likes because he was brilliant" when all of us knew that we had to move on from him.
