Would be a fair call this. I'm in the same boat (re. Brendan - not claiming your level of rationality). Don't want to bang on about it but those three subs today (not even the actual subs... although Soumare?! ...the stupid rigid-idiot timing of them) have pushed me into 'don't even care who replaces him' mode.
-
I'm not sure even on here there'd have been many who would hold it against him if he'd at least let that period of dominance culminate in either a goal or the game clearly moving back to one of our familiar 'run out of ideas' phases
-
Hmmm
-
We were on top. Maybe one change to tweak it/turn the screw slightly would make sense. Three just smacked of him have decided 10 minutes earlier and refusing to take into account what was happening on the pitch.
-
Ricky's challenge early on was worse and set the tone for what was a pretty, ahem, tasty game
-
Yep. Had been completely on top for the previous 5-10 minutes at that point. Should have held off making any of them until Chelsea got back into it. Making three changes just seemed like we had someone not watching the game phoning them in
-
Apparently it was because Brendan literally hated him
-
Oxynoronic for a winger, no? And that's before you factor in the fact he's been shit
-
I imagine this has been posted before, but anyway... I suggest the 'me-own-eyes' crew avert their gaze - https://theanalyst.com/eu/2022/10/premier-league-stats-2022-23/ I've extracted the first example...

Corruption! -
'That kind of character? If true he's a easily managed hypochondriac, not Red Robbo.
-
Absolutely. In an ideal world we'd have a situation where both those goals were allowed, and with minimal fuss. BTW - this is what the 'modern' offside rules were designed to sort out (that is, movement away from a form of rugby as directed by one of Sean Dyche's more progressive ancestors).
-
My thoughts are he's a meritricious sadsack with the critical faculties of an umbrella and he'd really get on with the samelamers in our PL and match threads.
-
... but you can be offside because of your shoulder, or the bit of the [insert your word here, I'm going with 'arm'] between the shoulder and what IFAB is defining as the 'arm' for football specific purposes. And if you have your arm pointing straight down as Faes does, your elbow will be a line with the outer edge of your upper (sorry, I'm going to do it again) arm, and that's a part which you can be offside for. I'm going to really quite strongly suggest that this is exactly why the line drawn below extends beyond the elbow up to his unowot
-
You posted the *handball rules* to define where the arm starts (they use the armpit because there's no equivalent fixed point on the outer arm), not the rule to say which part of the arm should be used in an offside decision Tbh your other reply (to me this time) means I'm pretty sure we're in 'bored and boring troll' territory now

Who Weghorst wants to be. I rejigged that post a few times and did get his name right once, but admit that the mental pull of a former player was too strong.
-
It's as accurate as the still-required human input allows it to be. A lot more accurate than someone running the line, but not perfect. My problem is that the chimera of perfect accuracy (which is what people claim they want) is driving the current VAR process for offside, when it should be driven by ensuring that the preferred outcome (from a neutral's POV!) of both the Barnes and Rashford goals standing. Even when it's fully tech'd I'd prefer it to slightly favour the attacker e.g. has to be offside in the stopped frame and the frames either side
-
Nope. That just clarifies where the arm starts, and thus how much of the arm should be excluded from the decision. Offside is measured from whichever bit in green is nearest the goal line. So the outside of the upper arm/shoulder (obviously assuming head/foot etc not nearer)
-
As you said in the match thread, half a dozen times. Please explain it. Who controls it? Which clubs are involved? Who pays whom? Are all the officials in on it?
-
Yep. It might have been fair to blame Souttar as much as Faes if Ward had made the save and the rebound had gone to Weghorst. The only way Souttar could have influenced that goal was by stepping out earlier and playing for offside. But... I don't think it's hindsight to say that Faes charging out to help out with the Sabitzer/Weghorn overload, but leaving Rashford a free run in behind, was a poor decision, and not one Souttar would have been expecting, And when I say 'leaving Rashford'... this is the position at the point the ball goes past Mendy...

Man Utd vs LCFC - 19/02/2023 - Match Thread

Anyone got anything sillier than this, or can we announce the winner? -
18 months ago was the start of last season. And people were definitely having a pop about him at that point. Flick through from here. https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/123630-maddison/page/96/#comments (you'll also find plenty of moaning in the months prior to this)
-
This. Although <nasal>it's the tracking cameras that negate the need for the line drawing</nasal> VAR works best when it completely removes the human element (which in turn helps to remove any claims of bias). Adding tech but keeping humans involved is like adding a strong link to a chain with an existing weak one. It would also massively speed the decision making process. I'm sure they were about to kick off when the match commentary mentioned they were even looking at the Barnes offside yesterday.

Aye... goal aside I'm loving his pass/move/receive/repeat to negate their pressing. Don't want to jinx it, but it's very reassuring watching him show just how effective simple can be (with added kapow) Be shagged out before the 90 mind
