Maybe the players that we want to sign are waiting to see if more established PL teams come in for them. We show our hand, the player looks and goes, hmmmmmm, it's a PL side but one that's likely to struggle this season. I'll wait and see if a West Ham or Fulham or Palace show any interest. Chances are, if none of our targets get better interest from elsewhere, we'll see a fair bit of business towards the end of the window. And I'm not sure filling the squad out with loan singings is the answer either. If we have a poor season and we're struggling for most of it, as many of us suspect we're going to, how bothered are these players going to be if they know they're going back to their parent clubs. They're aren't many Kevin Campbell's out there, sadly.

Take Danny Ward. Only really had one crack as a first team regular and it was an utter disaster. He's reportedly on £50k a week to be third choice keeper and just participate in training. He's never going to get interest from a PL side or any half decent Championship side, so his options are limited to lower Champo sides or the lower leagues. If anyone down there took a punt on him, he'd be on what, £10k a week at the very maximum, and he might turn out to be just as bad in League One or Two as he was for us, so he ends up back on the bench for £40k a week less. Would you move?

Surely if we're pulling keepers out of the stand it needs to be Russell Hoult.

Surely it's better for Cooper to see the results of trying things before the season starts and know what he and the team need to do rather than getting battered in the first five weeks of the season and then try and change things. If he played his best eleven in whatever system he thinks will work pre-season, he wouldn't know what or what not to do if that doesn't work. Preparation and all that.

Let's hope he doesn't get the electric cha.....

Bit rubbish for the poor lad though isn't it. Signs for us in the PL, hardly plays, doesn't play at all the next season, this season he doesn't get a sniff again but we keep him in case we get relegated where he might not get any games again. What a terrible career move for him. Best to just cut him loose and let him try and kick start his career again elsewhere.
