I don’t think as many will leave as we maybe think/ would like, because we pay our players too much, or clubs won’t pay what we want. Planning for worst case; ie. we go down and get hit with an embargo, we’ve still not got an awful squad at Championship level. What we need this January therefore is the same as what we need for the here and now. A Left sided defender, a striker and a Goalkeeper (otherwise we could be left with just 1 next year). Ideally we would also sign a winger and Mcateer could either be sold or loaned out. I also think we may keep hold of Bilal. Whilst he’s shown promise I don’t think he’s done enough to convince a club to spend c. £30m on him which we would likely demand to show a reasonable PSR profit. I don’t believe he’s been recalled as such. But is back at the training ground for his recovery. Think the initial diagnosis was c. 4 months from early Nov, so hopefully back March time could allow him to be available for Oxfords last 10 games or so of the season.

January window is always difficult, but 3 new signings could make a huge difference and give us a chance of staying up. Would go for the below order of priority, but ideally need at least 3. 1. RB - Rensch / El Ouahdi / Van Ewijk / Hume 2. Left footed defender - Gomez, or Reguilon 3. Winger - Louie Barry / ?? 4. Striker - if funds available etc. not sure who.. Guiu on loan from Chelsea? Send back Edouard, and loan McAteer and Thomas to the Championship. Also get Alves a 6 month loan, probably L1 after giving him a good run out vs QPR as he needs minutes. And organise new loans for Braybrooke and Silko Thomas and keep Nelson at Oxford for second half of the season, ready to come straight in for us next season.

Was watching the Soton game on the tv the other day. And even though they were getting battered by Spurs, it was noticeable how good the atmosphere was behind the goal where all the safe standing is in the second half. Wish we would follow suit as we have a similar bowl style stadium, so clearly can work in the Premier League. Got a real opportunity here to make a big improvement to the atmosphere at the KP, just hope we take it.

It’s always crazy the level of atrophy you can see in such a short space of time in his right leg. Long term would rather he recovers fully, has a full pre season and ready to go next year

As most of their threat comes down their left from Barnes/ Gordon, think RVN might keep BDCR at RM with Justin staying back to help strengthen that side, with Kristiansen bombing on to provide the width on the left and El Khannous tucking inside. The alternative is for BDCR/ Mavididi to play on the left with Bilal 10 and Buonanotte on the right, but think Justin and Buonanotte on our right hand side would leave us exposed.
