  1. That was known more or less from the get go. I presume the Govt were more worried about teaching unions kicking off about the safety of their staff than the kids, who who at almost zero threat from the infection (and certainly way way less endangered from it than they would be meningitis, measles, chick pox, TB even etc)
  2. She didn't even realise that she'd cracked an amusing line, won a polite laugh....but then stunned the audience when it became clear it wasn't a funny line. I don't ever think I've ever seen a worse politician
  3. I disagree.. My guess (stress guess) There was a fear that the NHS could collapse under sheer weight of covid admissions, risking potential social disorder. In the end,.the NHS quietly tamd.discreetly made decisions to choose who lived and died. .
  4. I largely agree..I'm no conspiracy nutter that thinks COVID didn't exist or that the vaccine was so Bill Gates could make us buy computers But COVID itself knocked out the weakest of the weak and, in some unfortunate cases,.the unluckiest of the unlucky. Lockdown itself condemned thousands of cancer (and other illnesses) patients to an early grave,.who might otherwise have had years.of useful life ahead of them
  5. Not even post mortem. It was tested positive at any time in the previous 30 days to death counted as a COVID death. If we applied that same 30 day formula to the common cold, I'd estimate an easy half of the 700k deaths a year would be down to a.runny nose
  6. I've generally found them lacking in customer service skills.. But I've found that they generally respond well to customer indifference and generally being a bit offhand .... and subsequently lighten up a bit.
  7. True. Fair point. Maybe they didn't count car accidents and heart attacks and strokes and cancer as COVID though,.like we did.
  8. I enjoyed it. So did the kids. And all the people I saw out at the same time were enjoying it too. And, much as I despised the concept of a forced, mass house arrest....personally, I absolutely enjoyed being paid 20 grand a year to chill.
  9. So that's got nothing to do with the appalling health, physique, lifestyle and diet many people in the UK have compared with other European countries?
  10. Nice clearing header defending a corner. A feature of our game not seen since Huth and Wes.
  11. Good day for the club. A win. No supporters allowed to watch. No social media communication, until it's all been sanctioned that it's Thai influencer friendly. Matchday goals for Whelan.
  12. Yeah, defo. Any compo have to come off a traveller's own insurance. This will go down as a force majeure
  13. Or go full Italian, loan him, agree to a 50m fee next summer,.then send him back and offer 4m
  14. Sadly the boring truth is that Percy is correct and previous reported bids are wrong. But, in many ways, wouldn't we all love it if Rudkin has just bid less 😂.... something he's probably learned from Asian businessmen in Leicester, who routinely.pull that stunt
  15. The batters havent all clicked this season together. Tonight would be handy!
  16. Basically being played at an equivalent of Chesterfield. Non league Kempten. Anyone going? Or is it behind closed doors?
  17. Telegraph reporting that these supposed investors interested in that hundred shite are starting to do the maths and it don't stack up. I questioned a while ago where and how these investors will make their money back. The whole thing is a sham. A sporting pyramid scheme. It will never, ever.make money. It comes back to the age old thing of counties living within their means. Much as I love county, how many fcking pros do they have? And many of them on decent buck. Wage cap and said limit the counties..let the counties get sponsors for any big name overseas players. And bin off the hundred.
  18. If you're good enough, you'll make it...was ever thus. Last two prior to KDH and Barnes were Chilwell and Jeff. Both largely booed and/or disrespected each week.
  19. Didn't fancy him anyway. Too weak. Too slow. Wreaked of Silva. It should be noted I've never seen him play, done zero research on him and would not recognise him if he came up and introduced himself to me. But I can smell a bad signing a mile off.
  20. It's a good and fair argument. I'm not sure Putin is in that league though. He's more gangster, more mafiosa than a real genuine desire for world domination. Surely the notion of selling out Ukraine is at least worth 'war gaming' and seeing if the west would be better off?
  21. This prospective Vice President fella Vance and his opposition to funding Ukraine. Bad for Ukraine,.sure. but Is it actually bad for Europe? Might it not be better? Throw Putin a piece of meat in exchange for European (and/or Baltic state) security? Is that not an argument?
  22. Ward is the obvious overpay. And as you say, we have a long history. But there are more unsung examples of overpayment.. Monaco had our pants down for Tielemans. Most clubs would've bid more.modestly....and left Tielemans to kick up a stink with his parent club to sanction the move. Puel at St Etienne knew with insider trading knowledge exactly that we'd pay 5.or 6m more for Fofana. Perez was a grotesque overpayment at 30m FFS. We all knew he was a decent 12m level player. The Bertrand debacle. Nobody else in the world would've paid a penny more than 30k a week. We shelled out ,80k. Obviously Slimani and Silva funded the entire Portuguese game for 2 or 3 years. And there'll be more, that I CBA to think of
  23. Would suit us if we could loan all three off en masse to garbage like Derby, who haven't a pot to piss in and we can dictate the loan terms that they have to play. Also, deals can be renewed or recalled at Xmas at our whim We get battled hardened players back and we cuck Derby at the same time. Happy days.
  24. Just popped this Daley Thompson thing on,. presumably on iPlayer too. 10 mins in it's fantastic. Any kid of the 80s will find this fascinating
