  1. Enlarged prostate? Or is his lizard tail growing back?
  2. Fair enough. We were a championship team who'd contrived to get into league one (sounds very familiar to now, albeit a level higher) whereas they were bankrupt I suppose. The club looks broken though. Their dear lovers forest have moved on. We are in every sense on a other planet, team, fanbase, profile, finance. Their profile outside of Derry is literally non existent. Kids today wouldn't differentiate them from Blackpool or Plymouth or even a Port Vale. The world has moved on and hopefully left them behind. Edit; even autocorrect prioritises ,Derry' over Derby hahab
  3. Definitely. Heart says we aren't quite as dominant as the table suggests. Head says, as others have pointed out, that we could bumble through against the 15 weaker teams without breaking sweat. And despite our indifferent form against the better sides, we outclassed Southampton, Leeds had 0-0 all over it, we outplayed Ipswich for 45 and looked untroubled by their second half improvement. We were cruising against Cov. We were way better than west Brom even though we Were lucky in the end. We beat Sunderland on playing at 20% Two more mini 4 game winning runs against a succession of garbage.... the rest we can stumble through
  4. I don't think the ticket office will ever be happy until crowds are down back at COVID levels.
  5. The Pools lady (or man). I guess Avon lady falls into same category. The Club book. The shellfish seller in a boozer People hailing cabs (outside of London) TV repairman
  6. Great point. Off on a tangent, fro this thread, but the timing element was the opposite for Tigers. Their first John player cup final v Gloucester in about 77 had thousands from Gloucester and only hundreds of Tigers. Very much the underdog. Two or three consecutive finals later, Tigers had transformed themselves into the big team.
  7. There is absolutely no way we were this bleak in league one. They look horrendous, irrespective of the final scoreline.
  8. It is. I suppose it's a bit like us playing Shepshed or Nuneaton
  9. Wow, just popped on the 5 mins before half time and that was a surprise. Grim..real grim. Looks a dying club to me, though they don't yet know it. I suspect Derby will go they way of other old traditional football names; Preston, Blackpool, Huddersfield. Might bum the occasional season in the top flight once every 30 or 40 years but apart from that, that's about it.
  10. Happy to be corrected!
  11. Just watched it. Basically same film as talented Mr Ripley,.right?
  12. Norfolk has always had a few, but generally Leicester exiles who've moved or retired out there. Obvs the club want a closed shop of supporters for its own unfathomable reasons, but assuming we can get back up and stay up, this season should be a lesson to us all that the brand image / perception of the club is unrecognisable to what it was a decade ago. And with that, is the opportunity to grow the base beyond the county and the occasional traditional isolated enclaves (Kettering, Nuneaton, Stamford) and grow support into areas an hour or so away- Northants, South Lincs, Daventry, MK, Banbury type areas - all lack a local PL club
  13. Oadby Sikhs are almost all Liverpool, 80/20 split between Liverpool and city there.
  14. Villa are funny one as urban Brum and south Brum they aren't like particularly strong. But get out to Tamworth,. Kidderminster, Worcester, Redditch, Sutton Coldfield and yep, Ashby, it's a big ol' catchment area
  15. Northampton rugby has a much more working class following than tigers.
  16. One of the reasons I can't stand them (even tho i do try to like them)
  17. Thing is in Loughborough, same as Melton, the forest filth that are about feel the need to wear forest clobber 24/7, artificially increasing the profile as City fans there don't tend to wear fox leisure 24/7 I was the same in Nottingham TBF. Dated a bird there for a while and when I'd go for a jog in the morning,.I'd always pop my city.top on
  18. Loughborough changes with the wind. They had a forest spell but it's now swung firmly back on our favour. I'd say to the tune of 60%, 40% big teams and forest
  19. Bosworth we compete with Tigers (who I'd say are dominant)... likewise any other posher county town; Oakham, harborough, uppingham
  20. I'd say our strongest outside of county towns are Kettering and Nuneaton. Castle Donington I'd nuke. Derby stronghold, weirdos (tho that's coz it's derby people escaping, rather than Leicestershire folk supporting them)
  21. Second dates are much harder than first. First the bar is low. if you are anything above a complete social inadequate, you can do OK. The second - where expectations have grown - is where any stunning lack of charisma and limited knowledge on item outside of war, football and lockdown loophole stories become startlingly obvious We shan't be meeting again
  22. How comes I am only just starting to appreciate the back catalogue of Squeeze? Always kinda considered them a workmanlike but likeable outfit. But I'm learning their stuff is marvellously crafted. And ageless. How hard is that to consistently write songs that don't age. My fave, funnily enough one of the few without Glenn Tilbrook on lead vocals
  23. I don't think our tactics take into account the opposing team's mentality. We can be (seemingly) cruising at 1 or 2 up and the opponents can often be quite content with that and basically then give it bash in the last 15 mins. Even v Brum, cruising with a 2 goal cushion and an opponent totally out of their depth against us, shithouse a goal late on and it's game on.
  24. I do. He's stinging. I like players to have a mean, mardy side. Winner's mentality
  25. If there's one criticism you can make this season, it's that one single incident seems to derail us. Middlesbrough were hanging on for 0-0 for dear life yet won off a worldie. Today's sending off after a textbook first half. Leeds had 0-0 written all over it. Sheffield Wednesday almost complete dominance playing at 20%. West Brom one lucky punt. Ipswich fluke double deflection. It's no use just being better than the opposition. You have to run their nose in it too.
