  1. Squeaky bum time at its finest (worst).
  2. The point is that it was extremely close either way, and the linesman clearly erred in raising the flag. It should have been a VAR decision.
  3. Most managers in that position, even needed 3 points, take the approach of parking the bus for 75 minutes to keep it scoreless and then trying to sneak a goal in at the end.
  4. Looks pretty clearly onside here.
  5. Interesting subtext to this one. Obviously two wins gets us up, but if we beat Soton that pretty much guarantees their finale at Leeds is meaningless and Leeds is the bigger threat to us. Leeds can still catch us, but can still be caught by Soton, so if we lose they have a better shot at the former but that pretty well guarantees Soton will go all-out in the last match. If Soton loses they're probably out of danger from them and may have an easier match against them, but very unlikely to catch us. Southampton and Ipswich are in one GD race, Leeds and Leicester in the other, with no overlap between the two.
  6. Same here (it kicked off at 4 AM), but what a glorious shitshow. Farke said he "would have preferred a measured composure" and I'm sure that's an understatement.
  7. What was the second one? Gnonto was obviously off but the Rutter penalty was the right decision.
  8. As far as Wrexham going up back to back, first and foremost I think it’s good for the sport. Raises the profile in places where it has a lot of room to grow. Also, circumstances aside, it’s an old club with a ton of history and great fans that’s had some genuine shlt luck. Why would you begrudge them the good fortune they’ve had with Ryan and Rob buying the club? It’s not just a matter of splashing cash, either. You still have to make good decisions regarding management and recruitment, and they’ve clearly done that.
  9. The thing is, L & L are both in a position where financially speaking, not getting promoted will be an absolute debacle. For Ipswich, not so much. It would suck - but they're not under the same pressure the two big clubs are. That may play to their advantage. Farke over Enzo is obviously Leeds' biggest advantage in getting through the next few weeks. He's been down this road before and managed to get it done, Enzo seems pretty much adrift.
  10. Pretty big assumption with this many matches left.
  11. Complete non-story. Just people looking for new crap to be upset about.
  12. 14 goals in 1451 league minutes. But FT orthodoxy is that if they're American they suck, and dissent will not be tolerated.
  13. I like Ipswich, but something about McKenna's pouty face is very irritating.
  14. Norwich, you beauties.
  15. Ipswich being lucky and McKenna doing a good job are not mutually exclusive. And I would argue both are true. Perfectly logical for Farke to be nominated, as Leeds are at the top of the table and along with a lot of attacking talent, he also inherited a colossal mess and an organization left in shambles by the old owner and DoF. Rosenior is indeed a very weird choice. But McKenna should probably win, certainly if Ipswich manage to go up.
  16. He’s played DM and RB, not like they’re counting on him to score goals. Fact is, they went through a stretch until last week were they didn’t allow a goal from open play since the start of the year. During that stretch Gray played basically every minute at right back despite never having played there professionally, and did most of that as a 17 year-old.
  17. Well, that's what top teams have to do and at the moment, they're top teams in this league. Leeds were very lucky to get away with three points, as they were rubbish for much of that match. But when you have the better skill players that puts a lot of pressure on the opposition, especially late in the game.
  18. Ultimately the thing with Winks is that he doesn't create much himself. He's like a top-grade synthetic oil - great for keeping the engine running smoothly, but if you have no pistons it doesn't do much good. Also, that should have been a pen on him in extra time.
  19. That's how I see it. It will reflect poorly on him if he bails on the club when this is hanging over it. And he should feel confident he can survive even with a 6-point deduction (which is likely what we get), assuming we lose the appeal (which we likely will).
  20. Southampton are in trouble to avoid the playoff. Tough run-in and a crazy backlog of matches. Interestingly all three demoted PL teams have never gone back up the following season.
  21. So basically in half the games it’s 3 subs or less. Unacceptable. Those two extra subs under the newer rules are a freebie, and it’s silly not to use them. The number should never be less than four.
  22. With the intl break immediately after I don't think there's any correct answer except play the strongest team possible.
  23. Why does he need a reason? Bad refs are bad refs. He realized he was about to send the guy off and panicked.
  24. The question of "motive" - implicit in which is that there was some sinister anti-Midlands bias in the decision. It was just bad officiating, and bad officiating doesn't need a motive. He was about to pull the card, realized he was going go send off a player for a non-contact reason, and chickened out instinctively. No conspiracy, just incompetence.
  25. The amount of self-pity and conspiracy theorizing on here is truly staggering. No one is out to get us or keep us down. Officiating is bad in the PL - how awful is it going to be in this league? We get screwed by bad calls and have a few go in our favor as well. It shouldn't happen but it doesn't help to look for intent in it or use it as an excuse for our poor form. And generally speaking, the style of officiating in the Championship works out badly for possession and flair-based sides, because weaker teams get away with murder trying to slog the game down. It sucks but that's all it is, not Men in Black.
