  1. When you get a fullback to fullback goal like that in the enemy box, you know you can get anything you want out there. This is a rout.
  2. I read that as "Both Leeds and Burnley are promoted if they win on Monday". As in, they win their match they're in no matter what else happens.
  3. Leeds only if both those things happen. If they and SU both win it's still mathematically in doubt.
  4. Georgia is basically on par (pun intended) with the rest of the country on a left-right basis now and like most of it, the divide is strongly urban-suburban vs. rural. SC is still pretty conservative but again, NC is just barely right of the national axis (it's a battleground state) and the cities and college areas are very liberal.
  5. Ryder Cup is a different animal, that's self-evident. There's absolutely no way a Masters crowd was going to get behind BdC against Rory today. None. It's a fantasy. On top of everything else these people are very aware of his LIV situation, and his antics may play in Phoenix but not at Augusta.
  6. It’s funny, a lack of an arrogant streak is probably why McIlroy hasn’t become not just great, but one of the all-time greats. Jack, Gary, Tiger, Hogan, even “FIGJAM Phil” have it. But it’s also what makes him so relatable and so compelling a figure, and why people love him. I knew the Augusta fans would be squarely in his camp, despite a lot of people here just making it into an anti-American thing. Masters fans are savvy to the big picture and the history of the game - they get it. They know what this means historically and what it means to Rory.
  7. Watching Rory's press conference, has there ever been a great golfer as honest as he is? He's so open about his own failings it almost defies belief. What a thoughtful guy.
  8. Yeah, nothing to see here. Scheffler and Rory are pretty good friends in fact.
  9. Sometimes good things happen to good people.
  10. At least he got beat by a great shot and a birdie. Anybody else, I'd have been pulling for Rosey. He's a peach of a guy.
  11. It just goes to show how great Rory is when he's on. Four double bogeys, two terrible wedges on the back side, and he still wins. He really is the best player in the world and it's hard to fathom that he hasn't won a major in 11 years. I hope this sets him off on a tear to end all golf tears.
  12. I don't think the phrase "monkey off his back" was ever more fitting. This was ****lng King Kong. On steroids.
  13. Has any golfer ever hit so many great and awful shots in the same round? The pressure on him was... inconceivable. As many mistakes as he made, to keep hitting great shots in response every time - that took incredible guts.
  14. I've never seen anything like that in my life. What a roller-coaster.
  15. Feel kinda bad for Justin, who deserves to be rooted for but has everyone wishing the worst for him. But come on, Rory...
  16. You know I really like Rosey - a class act who deserves another major whose clock is running out. But part of me wanted a meteor to hit him before he putted on 18.
  17. This is like surgery without anaesthesia.
  18. I'm pretty certain the crowd will mostly be pulling for Rory, even given the nationalism angle. Masters fans are more savvy than most golf crowds, they know what each of them means to the game and how their conduct has impacted it. And they love a good story - look the way they embraced Sergio when he finally broke through. That said, after 11 years of this I still dread the worst for Rory. That arrogant punk will probably pip him at the post.
  19. Not to mention he got the ball first. Not even sure that's a foul, never mind a red. Horrendous decision.
  20. 5 straight league wins, 12 unbeaten for Claudio. Huge Europa match tomorrow with Athletic Club.
  21. Stolarczyk.
  22. Has a tendency to run out of gas, but club believes he can be electric in future.
  23. Posted something similar in the Rickey thread, but I'd go with something like a 5-4-1 with all of our wing options being dross. Three at the back with Okoli-Coady-Faes, Ricardo and Woyo (maybe Thomas) as wingbacks, Wilf and Winks playing directly behind Bilal and Facundo, Daka up top. It's narrow, but you rely on the WBs to provide some attacking width. Our CBs are better suited to a three (Chelsea was further evidence). And that formation with that personnel might restore some decent control in midfield.
  24. I'd almost be temped to try something like a 5-4-1 with all of our wing options being dross. Three at the back with Okili-Vesty-Faes, Ricardo and Woyo as wingbacks, Wilf and Winks playing directly behind Bilal and Facundo, Daka up top. It's narrow, but you'd have to rely on the WBs to provide some attacking width. Our CBs are better suited to a three, obviously. And that formation with that personell might restore some decent control in midfield.
  25. Contrary to what some here may assume I think Ruud is smart enough to know Ricardo is part of any possible best 11. But I don't think he'll start him after he's been out so long.
