  1. I feel that the word 'tangential' should appear somewhere in this discussion, so here it is!
  2. If a rifle were strapped to the outside of the space capsule travelling at 25,000mph towards (and half-way) to the Moon, and was fired (with a muzzle velocity of 2,500mph) straight backwards in the direction of Earth, where would the bullet finally end up?
  3. Has anyone got one of those Titan Car Locks? I bought one 2 months ago, because I liked the idea of it using the seat-belt socket as its anchor point. However, the device proved to be very fiddly to fit - the steel cable is looped through the steering and then locked into the socket. Also, the shortness of the cable meant that the steering wheel position had to be lowered and the seat brought forward for it to reach. But the worst problem with it occurred recently when I tried to unlock the device, but it wouldn't cooperate. Fortunately I was at home and so had the tools at hand to basically destroy the lock in situ. It took ages to cut through the plastic housing to expose the lock, but the seat-belt socket was eventually freed. This felt like problem that was always likely to happen and it would have been much worse had I not been at home at the time. If anyone is thinking of buying one - don't!
  4. Nevill Holt, just up the road from Medbourne, does at least one every summer. The standard is excellent, parking's a doddle (a nearby field), but it is very expensive. The interval is usually 90 minutes long, so most folk picnic in the grounds. I guess it's Leicestershire's answer to Glyndebourne or Garsington.
  5. LCFC will almost certainly be playing Championship football next season! Lincoln City, that is.
  6. Oxford United beating West Brom could also be very significant.
  7. Except that we've been a league club for nearly a century longer (and we don't have a pier).
  8. Peter Taylor - was he really that bad? In his first season we ended 13th in the Prem and got to R6 of the FA Cup. It all fell apart for him after losing that FA Cup match at home to Wycombe Wanderers. His overall win %age was fairly respectable at about 35. That's better than that of David Pleat, Mark McGhee, Craig Levein, Rob Kelly, Ian Holloway, Paulo Sousa, Claude Puel, Steve Cooper, RvN, and level with Marti Cifuentes. I know that using win %ages isn't necessarily the best metric to use, but if it were, Enzo Maresca would be way ahead of everyone else, including Claudio Ranieri and Brendan Rodgers, arguably our best two ever, based on the silverware they won.
  9. Some Lincoln City fans are terrified that we're going to poach Michael Skubala.
  10. Maybe a 12-point deduction would have been better. At least it would have killed off any lingering hopes of Championship survival completely.
  11. What a difference a decade makes - exactly 10 years ago today, JV scored that amazing goal against Liverpool, and that win was followed 4 days later by another victory, away at Manchester City, as we marched on towards the PL title.
  12. What next? A 12-point deduction? That would leave City on 26 points in 23rd place , a point below Oxford United.
  13. If America were to acquire Greenland and make the 51st state, they'd have to redesign the stars and stripes. Well no, just the stars.
  14. Blues fans may be interested to know that today is Blue Monday. The third Monday in January is 'officially' the most depressing day of the year, and I wouldn't disagree with that!
  15. Looking at the result of the ManchesterCity v. Exeter City game was like looking at today's date!
  16. Today's date, written in its full form, is the last one for over 90 years that can be expressed as three perfect squares: 25 / 9 / 2025 = (5x5) / (3x3) / (45x45). The next one will occur on New Year's Day of the year 2116.
  17. I think it's the worst season ever for points gained, when adjusting the figures to take account of the old 2pts for a win system and the total number of games played.
  18. At least 12 of the 19 PL clubs we'll have played by the end of the season will have produced doubles of different sorts. (One double win, one double draw and ten double defeats.)
  19. A City win today would mean that more than half this season's points will have been gained against the three south coast clubs.
  20. Keeping an eye on FT's matchday thread. Tbh, the more calamitously awful City get, the more entertaining that thread becomes. Doubtless, it'll go into total meltdown if we again lose without scoring.
  21. Today's defeat produced the 10th. double of the season against us. Arsenal, Aston Villa, Brentford, Chelsea, Fulham, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd, Newcastle and Wolves have all taken maximum points off us. We've also not gained a single point against any of the top 8, with one game (against Forest) still to play, from amongst that group.
  22. Jamie Vardy (ne Gill) has several links with the number 9: 1. Wears shirt number 9 2. Hat-trick in record 9-0 PL away win at Southampton 3. Captain in record 9 goalless home PL defeats in succession 4. Goals total of 198 which equates to 9 for every player on the pitch 5. His original name contains 9 letters
  23. Shouldn't the time signature be 4/4?
  24. So which is the ideal scenario? If there's a chance that Manchester City get a massive points deduction, how can our relegation be confirmed very soon?
  25. I think you'll find it's 715 minutes, which is just under 12 hours.
