Larb Is Good Food

Honestly, if he comes in just give it to Brownhill. This squad is such a disjointed mess that I don't think anybody bar Ricky P deserves it, or could say with a straight face that they have any authority to speak for the wider group. My only concern with doing that would be that the last time it happened was a certain Mr. Matt Mills, and that was a disaster - but that was someone walking into a squad full of characters who had standards thanks to Pearson's first stint, who saw through his BS (as did Pearson on his return). This lot lack the marbles, or the track record to back up their words, and I don't think it particularly matters on this occasion if someone comes in from outside to lead by example.

We are very grateful that you didn't attend more in that case

It would be nice to be the club that nabs a player's services from under another one's nose for a change - it's happened too often in recent years due to our snail's pace approach to negotiations. That said, maybe it's just my Piroe PTSD, but this just reeks of a prem club like Leeds or Everton swooping last minute to get him in as a squad player. I must say I've been pleasantly surprised with our activity so far, certainly in terms of trimming the fat, especially if the Wilf deal goes ahead. But we've shot ourselves in the foot leaving everything so late for bringing others in (as usual), we're almost certainly going to be stuck in deadline day bidding wars again if an embargo doesn't cut us off before then.
-
Good luck to Wilf, it's the right time for him to go but I'm grateful for his contributions over the years. At his peak he was a genuine 'Kanté replacement'. Shame how it's gone since the FA Cup peak, but he's in what should be his peak career years now, needs a new challenge.

Thailand is the 'big guy' both in terms of military prowess and it's activities. This all came about because Cambodia got given some holy sites on the borders back in the 60s, and Thailand wants them. They're culturally relevant to both nations but they just happened to fall in Cambodia when the border was drawn. I guess from a moral standpoint it's a grey area, but from a purely political/military one it's just a dick-waving contest. The only real surprise is that Thailand hasn't used its massive advantage in tech and personnel to blunt force the whole thing. Their army is 3-4x the size of Cambodia's depending on which source you read. Cambodia could bite the bullet and cede the territory to end this, but why should they? It's sacred to them as well. The cynical view is that both governments want the distraction for their populations, a bit like how you'll get Argentina tubthumping about the Falklands every time their economy shits the bed. And it's totally on brand for KPFC to throw a doggy-bone to the government back home, like they did with the King there. It's pretty pathetic but not surprising at all. The fact I'm sat here commenting on geopolitics instead of the upcoming start of the new season sums up the absolute fever dream that is KPFC. Sick of it.

Might be worth complaining to the FA / local MPs? I doubt they'll do anything but, even if nothing disciplinary comes of it, if the FA ends up having to put out a statement it will be incredibly damaging for KP's image and face back home. And yes, it's a completely valid line of reasoning to suggest that this sort of thing serves to inflame tensions and potentially makes match going fans targets for retaliation. It's incredibly irresponsible, even if I can count the number of Cambodians I've met in my life on one hand and still have digits left to pick my nose.

Should be booing this shit when it comes up. They've kept it intentionally vague so that those not clued-in don't know what it's about. Imagine the optics for King Power if the crowd are doing that, maybe with a cheeky song to accompany it, on live TV

We've done some garbage business over the past few years, and he's been part of it, but let's be honest - Ayew is going to piss the Championship

What do you mean? It's a perfectly legitimate family business, and with local ties too!

I'll wait until we've played a few competetive games before judging Cifuentes. That said, anyone who was genuinely in favour of Russell Bastard Martin - including the morons on our board who seemed to genuinely want him to manage us - deserve to have their balls stapled to a dartboard. I'm still convinced that they only found Marti because they were typing 'how to hire Martin' into Google and Rudkin can't spell.

Congratulations to Celtic on your league title

Just nice to have competitive footy back at any level, this summer has been the longest I can remember thanks to our board sleeping through most of it. Can't read too much into opening day, but Huddersfield seem to have put down an early marker, 3-0 over Orient is not to be sniffed at.

One of the few culprits from last season I don't really have any ill feeling towards. He was just constantly found out due to the way we played, and teams very quickly learned to target his side. That's not to dismiss the fact that behind maybe Faes and Soumare he did more to doom us to relegation than any other individual last season through his continued shite performances. But he was clearly getting no help from anyone around him. The worst in a long line of bad things Cooper and Ruud did was to keep putting him in when he was clearly struggling and his confidence was in tatters. There was a point where a ball down our right side was a guaranteed goal, it was getting that bad. He's been part of some great times too, and I thought he was turning a corner form his injury last time out in the Championship, so there's still a player in there if not one at the heights of his pre-injury self, when he had a genuine claim to make the England squad. I hope he goes, we get some cash for him, and he's able to rebuild some sort of respectable career. His stock's never been lower, but the right manager could benefit him after the clowns we've had this past year. I'd hope many LCFC fans would wish him well if he leaves. -
If Daka was worth throwing £20 million (!!!!) at, then this lad could be underwhelming and still a complete bargain for a quarter of that price. Young, strong, sounds like he fits a possession / wing-heavy system. GERRIMIN #KONE2025

Can we just tell Rob McElhenney he's that fella from LMFAO? He'll be dying to get him in so they can film a music video together down Wrexham Market. -

I won't even be annoyed if he does okay for them. We know his ceiling is probably this level at this point, though that's being generous given even Wolves fans admit he was useless when not playing in a back 3 with two others to spare his blushes. And that was years ago - they let him go because he was clearly on the decline after 2020. Even if he does show up in their game(s) against us, so what? It's the Championship. As much as their hollywood gang would like to make it out as some sort of revenge arc, there are levels to this. It'd still just be a mid-table borefest in the second tier, not something like Chilwell "scoring" his equaliser at Wembley. -

I was going to say, unless they're planning to go bust they'll struggle to drop all the way to the Northern Premier that soon. -
Players you disliked, but reluctantly rated...

My brother absolutely despised Antony Knockeart and still stands by it to this day, to the point he'd join in with the chants yelling "PLEASE SELL KNOCKEART" - despite all his memorable moments for us. That one good enough for ya? For me, a player that got on my tits at the time was Paul Gallagher. Frustrating, powderpuff twat who could get outmuscled by a light breeze, but my god he was good at set pieces. So he's one of those where you spend 80 minutes groaning every time he touches the ball, then the next minute you're cheering and singing his name like it never happened after he scores a 30 yard belter. He also has vocal credits on Jersey Budd's "When You're Smiling" and I thought his face in the studio with those headphones on looked punchable, so I'm reminded of my love-hate relationship before kick-off every game. -

Talk to me when Faes, Soumare and Daka have pissed off elsewhere and (miracle bids notwithstanding) Skipp and BDCR are playing with the reserves. A very positive first step in draining the swamp though.
