I actually think the 3-2 Knockeart game at Forest was a sliding doors moment. As much as I worship the ground Big Nige walks on, we had been in a massive slump in the second half of 12-13 (Barnsley away still makes me shudder) and that game got us into the playoffs by the skin of our teeth. I reckon that had we not won that game, Vichai would have given Nigel the boot. Despite Deeney Day, the rest is history from then on. End of era - yeah it's the Forest away game in the cup for me. Ironic really that it had to be on that ground again, but something really broke in our mindset that day and Rodgers phoned it in ever since.

Season Ticket / Membership renewals for 25/26

Debating it, especially as I'm moving away from the county and it'll be a 2 and a half hour drive to games. Really only holding onto it at this point because of the closed-shop way tickets operate in general, and there's part of me that figures it'll be a lot easier to get to away games in the Northwest once I'm up there. It'll only be a short hop for me to the likes of Preston, Blackburn, any number of the clubs currently in the playoffs for League One. And I kind of know my Dad's keen to keep the priority points up so he can follow them home and away once he retires in two years' time - with that in mind I'm probably gonna hold onto it for his sake. Factor in the obscene prices for home tickets and it will probably pay for itself if I make it to 9 or 10 games across the season, even in the second tier. Will I attend every game though? Not a chance. Like I said in another thread, fully planning to pick a local lower-league club and start going to their matches instead, to see if I can fall in love with the game again. Was toying with it this time two years ago with Coalvillle, but now it's a matter of when, not if. LCFC will always be my hometown club, but they're a miserable thing to support and have been for years now. -
So what we're saying is that Top and Rudkin are the Michael Carroll of football?
-
Wheeled out Walshy to reminisce about the playoff final too, not even an 'on this day' thing. The comments are calling it out as distracting from the disastrous state of the club - even Patson's fanclub are talking more about the state of LCFC as a whole instead of why he isn't playing. Even the casual happy clappers can smell the BS now - they reap what they sow!

Really though, coming straight back up was the worst thing that could have happened to us wasn't it? Cut short the chronic rebuild job that was required after the malaise of the Rodgers era. We probably need 2-3 years in the doldrums to start to build a core of players that actually give a shit about representing LCFC, led by a spine from the academy.

I'm moving to Merseyside in Spring and considering going to Tranmere for my footy fix. They're in a relegation scrap themselves right now in League Two, but I can forsee a point where in two years time I have split loyalties as we face off in League One. Maybe Marine are more my level.

Honestly at the point now of thinking we need a cleansing. It's going to take more pain to get there. Strap in for a few years of rotting in the lower leagues - possibly even lower than the Championship for a while.

Which stage are we at folks?

He's going to tear it up and get snapped up by Premier League Everton and their shiny new stadium. We've decided McAteer and Thomas are our spine for next season.

Starting to feel the Spurs duo are emblematic of the same brainless thinking that led to us signing half of the Southampton defence we tonked 9-0. You want players up for a fight, proper battlers, and you go and choose to sign not one but two players from a club with systematic mentality issues. And it's showing. Neither looks bothered. More quality recruitment from the higher ups, and can't even pin Winks on Cooper - he was an Enzo pick, but even then he was one of the players throwing in questionable performances when the wheels seemed to be coming off from Feb-April last year. Did a job against a lower standard of opposition but has been found out as lacking the drive to lead at PL level. Every new comedy of errors and chance to analyse the state of our squad just casts my mind back to the Pearson days, and I realise he wouldn't be having the vast majority of this squad anywhere near one he built. We've filled it with Sven-type picks who wouldn't last five minutes if the board had the balls to sanction a clear-out.

LCFC is a social experiment to see the breaking point of the human mind

This club is a social experiment 😂😂😂

Ayew is the right one for this game, it's going to be an ugly attritional game and Facundo would get snuffed out too easily on current form. Jordan is just better at holding onto the ball and breaking up play. ... He's going to have an absolute stinker now I've said that, isn't he?

You can't get rid of a young mid-Championship standard striker who might develop, and use that money to sign an older mid-Championship standard striker who is probably at his peak already and probably demands higher wages. But Rudkin will certainly try. Bullet dodged, next!

Villa succeed in Europe or Rodgers does... choose your poison

Conveniently all the papers for their transfer and financial dealings for the past 20 years were kept in that kiosk behind the mugs and Balotelli 'Why Always Me-opoly' board games. 🤔
-
Definitely on Rodgers radar regardless, came through during his days at Liverpool.

They all need to work on their Welsh

And there's the true elephant in the room right there. Behind closed doors I fully expect there is a pressure to hide homosexuality for fear of upsetting the EPL's "global fanbase" (read - armchair fans in African / Asian markets countries with a medieval mindset). It's all about money - same reason you see the rainbow lace stuff censored on broadcasts in certain areas. It needs calling out.

It follows exactly the pattern we had from outsiders in the run up to, and aftermath of, sacking Rodgers. For those of us who were there watching that shite week in, week out, we knew how bad it was and that he was the problem. For lazy pundits it was just little old "Entitled Leicester" hounding out the manager who won them the FA Cup. See also - Ranieri's second season. We knew what we were seeing, and we were right to demand change. The difference this time is that the squad depth just isn't there for Ruud to arrest the nosedive without some real reinforcements. BDCR and Ayew have some role to play, but I don't think any of us are kidding ourselves that the raft of signings made for Cooper were shit and haven't strengthened us whatsoever. Rudkin needs to pull his finger out over the next week, or we're still going to be right up against it without a miracle upturn in not just desire but actual ability.
