PSR is dictating this, looks like we can spend big on one player and that’s likely to be a forward. Skipp on loan is a decent option.

Jordan Ayew (interest confirmed by Percy)
lcfc_forever replied to iancognito's topic in Transfer Talk
Even Tanner on The Final Whistle podcast said signing Ayew would be "getting into desperation territory" and hopes we weren’t after him. He added "I’d be a little bit concerned" if this is true as would think he'd be at the lower end of our target list. -
Steven Bergwijn - signed for Al-Ittihad

Has played at left-back, and if we stick with a 4 out of possession and 3 in possession, he could tuck inside to be the left cb.

Thanks! Well played @Silebyfox_89

Sure someone posted a yesterday or a couple of days we were in for him? All hail our new ITK!

Analysis from Dominic Wells - this quote stood out for me - said this before, I think this squad is used to being told what to do and Cooper’s attempt to empower the team isn’t working: One of those is within the structure vs. freedom approach, the Welshman has spoken on providing a foundation for players to have the “ability to make their own decisions”. https://medium.com/@dominic.wells24/doms-comms-week-11-preseason-ef822d9a5929

That’s the thing - I think Cooper wants the players to think more independently but it’s not working. He either drills them into system football and builds on Enzo, or he moves to a different style.
-
Yeah, they had some good players but lacked severely in the goalkeeping and striking positions as well as defensively generally. If we have limited funds, we should prioritise spending it on a striker as we have a good GK. The promoted sides have been lacking here, which I think is a key reason why they’ve generally struggled recently (except 22/23!).
-
The players have got used to being told exactly what to do - they’d been drilled and coached by Enzo to a such an extent that it was almost robotic. But from Cooper’s comments, it seems like he wants them to take more responsibility so the players are having to think more (and I don’t think they like it). When you’re then being pressed by a team like Lens, those automated/muscle memory solutions aren’t so much there so we look hesitant in position. We’re trying to play system football but without the automation that made it successful. Either Cooper goes back to that, or he moves away from system football and imposes his own style - the hybrid isn’t working.
-
Absolutely share Cooper’s frustrations - the comment about not knowing if more players are joining us wild, how can the board not keep him more informed - but I don’t understand why he didn’t play two of our very best press-resistant players in Vestergaard and Ricardo when trying to play out from the back. It’s clear to see Winks wants Ricardo alongside him, it’s not working with Ndidi. And we utterly lack creativity. If you play out from the back, go with a similar set up to the previous system. If you want to change it, then change it so you are playing to the the picked team’s strengths. At the moment, we’re getting the worst of both worlds.
-
The performance has been generally dreadful but Faes, Ndidi, BDR, Fatawu and Choudhary were comically bad. I’ve rarely seen such an inept performance from a Leicester midfield and attack, awful. Vestergaard/Coady and Ricardo have to start, we need their experience in the defence.

Probably is different to certainty - that's the point I'm making. Read other posters say it's definitely off. The only positive interpretation of Tanner's comments is he's not understood amortisation, but that would be optimistic!
-
And I've just copied the exact quote for you, read the whole article. There's a difference between a deal being unlikely (Carvalho) and off (Nelson).
-
Here's the exact quote, so yes, really: Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson was another they enquired about, but it quickly became apparent he would be beyond their budget. They have been linked with Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho at Liverpool but may encounter a similar situation, while his team-mate and 18-year-old forward Ben Doak remains a target.

Nope, Tanner says we may have a similar situation with Carvalho, it's Nelson we can't afford for sure. -
That's not what the Athletic says. Tanner says that we can't afford Nelson and MAY have similar issues with Carvalho but it's not confirmed. Fossehub has posted incorrectly about the article.
-
Tanner confirms he’s a target in the Athletic: They have been linked with Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho at Liverpool…while his team-mate and 18-year-old forward Ben Doak remains a target. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5683611/2024/08/07/leicester-premier-league-transfer-window/?source=ukdailyemail&campaign=711528&userId=5501264

Tanner on the Fofana transfer: Signing the 21-year-old Ivorian striker would be straightforward, but Leicester are weighing up other potential options.
